“great place for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

we took our 9 year old son away for his first holiday abroad and the hotel was perfect for us. I agree with some who say that the apartments were looking a little tired, but they were still ideal, clean and a great size! Although the beds were very uncomfortable and we all woke up each morning feeling sore all over! we were advised that there was a heated pool but when we got there we found that we were not allowed to use the pool as it was part of a different side to the hotel. therefore we were stuck with a pool that was salt water and freezing cold!! I never used the pool but our son was in most days, even though he vomited on the 1st day due to swallowing salt water! ( he was sick by the side of the pool which I cleaned up, not in the pool!!) most of the staff were fantastic and very helpful, although there were a couple ( 2 in particular) that were quite ignorant and made no attempt to speak to us in English. the entertainment that was provided to us on New Years Eve was fantastic and a great time was has by all. The food was good, but there was not enough of a choice and was similar most nights, although there were plenty of nice places to eat just outside the hotel and can highly recommend the all you can eat Chinese buffet, about 10 euros per adult and 6 euros per child, food amazing!! kids entertainer was excellent and made sure our son was involved in the activities. I would stay here again if going with my son, but not if I was going just with my husband.

We have recently returned from our third trip to the HPB site in Lanzarote at Costa Teguise. We were very impressed with this resort when we first visited in 2011 and our subsequent visits to both the island and Santa Rosa in particular have reinforced this impression. The facilities on the site and amenities in the apartments are first class and the opportunities for visiting and eating around and about are great. There are also great walks both in Costa teguise and in the island in general which range from easy to more strenuous for those who are more dedicated walkers. Public transport around the island makes it feasible to do without a hire car but, of course, having one does make more things possible. The climate of course is ideal and during our stay at the beginning of December the temperatures were in the mid-20s which was very pleasant!

We stayed at this hotel in one of the one bedroom self catering apartments for a week over New Year. The whole hotel was very clean and tidy and the staff friendly and helpful especially the pool bar area (which was very busy and good value for money) and the entertainment staff. Our room was clean although the tv was ancient and the bedding did not seem to stay on the beds due to the size. I would not bill this as 4 star but more a 3 star.

Room Tip: The apartments that do not look over the pool get more sun later in the day which during the winter...

Nice well maintained grounds. Staff were helpful. Pool bar was ok for breakfast or a snack but depending which waiting staff is on duty it could be very slow. We stayed in room 1096 which is in one of the two blocks and were disappointed in the standard, especially as it was billed as a 4 star (not close). Room could have been cleaner and definitely needs upgrading. There were no drawers to keep clothes in, a shortage of electrical plugs and shower was positively dirty looking and aged.
The little bungalows around the pool looked (at least from outside) a much better standard. There is no AIr Con in the apartment so I would have hated to be there in high season. Had to pay a daily charge for hair dryer and web access which even thought it was not a huge amount, is not good in this day and age. Pool was ice cold and though it was December it was billed as solar heated in winter (yes that means by the sun, I.e. Not from solar panels), pool is also sea water which came as bit of a surprise since it was not advertised and is quite a distance from sea. There is no outlook from apartments we were in. I doubt whether I would visit again.

We first went here 5 years ago and were quite impressed. However the apartments although clean are now looking very tired. We had an ancient 14 inch tv in our room. Although television is not important to us it is a sign of the type of accommodation you get. There are better options in Costa Teguise, but they cost a lot more.

Santa Rosa is a kid friendly place to holiday, stayed over Xmas and loved it. Kids club is good and lots to do in the complex for all ages. Pool was v cold but this didn't deter my 7 yr old. Food ok but much nicer restaurants in the square down the road. Pool bar was nice but very busy at lunch time, happy hour worth going to. Stayed in 1 bedroom apt but sofa bed not worth calling it a bed really, hard & uncomfortable, our room was above the kitchen so noisy and smelly at meal times (1099)
Overall a good holiday was had, would consider going again but only to a bungalow with proper beds.

We stayed at the hotel from Boxing Day until 2nd January 2013. We opted for the half board knowing that we would also eat out as we love Canarian food. Out room wasn't brilliant, room 2014 which overlooked the car park and a busy road. It was quite quiet though but I didn't like the fact at there was a back entrance which meant anyone could walk up to the door and balcony of our apartment, even non guests of the hotel. We kept the curtains closed constantly for privacy.
The restaurant is small and just like any other typical three star buffet. We opted to eat in on new years eve, nothing special. The staff are very friendly but the horrendous euro dance music on new years eve meant we went for a walk instead of having drinks at the hotel . The pool area is spotless, mainly because a man swills the pool area constantly with water and a brush which was a bit nerve jangling after about 20 minutes when you were trying to get into a good book. For the cost of the holiday £1,500 for two of us with Jet 2 holidays we would usually stay at a four star hotel but it was twixmas, hence the inflated cost. Would we stay there again, perhaps not as we prefer Furteventura as it is warmer at christmas and isn't as windy (we had two days of horrendous weather which meant very little hot water due to solar power and lack of sun).

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view. Hope you get it!
