“great location but Lanzarote wasnt for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

We stayed here November 2012 as a family of 5 and had a 2bed apartment. Excellent for self catering, cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer, everything you would have in your own kitchen at home! slept 6-8 people, 2 bathrooms, large kitchen, pool view on ground floor with a very large balcony. Pool was a bit on the small side and seemed to have older couples lay around the kids pool which didn't seem too happy when children splashed in the pool. Entertainment was ok. Didn't eat here either so cant comment on food. Location is excellent but I don't think we will return to Lanzarote as it just seemed a bit on the quiet side for us. We did suffer a lot with cockroaches too, even coming out the door inside the dishwasher but cockroaches cant be helped! It is a timeshare place and did find getting hounded by a lady all the time who even came to try and change my mind while relaxing on the sunbed round the pool. All in all though nice place to stay

Room was dirty, shabby and could have done with a makeover years ago. I found a dirty t-shirt in the wardrobe from a previous guest not nice. The bathroom was especially disgusting the mould on the shower curtain was awful. The area in front of our apartment was not cleaned while we were there hence lots of leaves and rubbish. The gym wasn't worth writing home about dirty dark and dirty. The gardens and pool were pleasant, but serious lack of decent sunbeds meant so e people reserving them for the day even though they weren't being used !!!! However some apartments have been refurbished just make sure you get one of those because the one we stayed in was disgusting.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room, we were told by the tour rep they were all the same, THEY ARE NOT !!!

Just had a week in Costa Teguise staying at Oasis Lanz,. The 2 bed apartment was huge! We started on the ground floor but due to the cockroaches (very common in lanzarote), we were moved to the 2nd floor. The only thing not in it's favour is that the bathrooms lack ventilation and so become a bit damp smelling. All the apartments look onto one of the pools which is lovely as the gardens are well kept and pretty. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The sunbeds were stacked and chained overnight till 9am to stop people putting their towesl out too early. The location is brilliant as it lies between the road leading down to Las Cucharas beach and the promenade. Lots of good eating and drinking places around with live music in many of the bars. We will definitely return to these apartments in the future despite the cockroaches.

Room Tip: Any apartments off the ground floor.

Having read mixed reviews we went open minded to this hotel as we know the area really well. We were aware that refurbishments were taking place only because we had been advised on arrival other than that we would have no idea.
The apartment was enormous having decided on 2 bed rather than one but could easily coped in a 1 bed with the 4 of us. The sofa bed in the lounge was really comfy compared to the beds in the rooms which were rather hard. All staff were friendly and helpful and other than lack of entertainment we cannot fault this place. Make sure you venture out and visit the local bars and beaches.
Only negative we had was Thompson Package holidays that insisted on being up at 8am waiting for the sun loungers to be unlocked by the pool to "bag" their spot. Always plenty of spare around the 2 pools and if you wanted a particular spot the pool guards were happy to bring a lounger down so WHY BOTHER stacking your claim with your towel ????

We read the reviews on TripAdvisor and as the jury appeared to be divided in their opinions we decided to make up our own minds.
THE POSITIVES: The location is fabulous with several beaches only minutes away and some fantastic bars and restaurants on the doorstep.
THE NEGATIVES: Firstly, there are two room standards - the outdated, tired and worn apartments used for 'Thomson' customers and some time share. Then there are the ultra modern newly refurbished 'show peice' apartments for members of their own club. From the minute we arrived we were 'invited' to view one of these whist having to put up with a sub-standard room with a stained bath with no enamel, electrics coming out of the wall whenever you removed a plug ... the electrics were rectified and we were eventually offered the opportunity to look at another room...this was just as bad and smelled damp. To her credit the receptionist did assure us that all of their rooms were of the same standard as ours!!!! We woke one day to a pool of water on the floor and discoverd that the fridge was broken, this took two days, several phone calls and numerous visits to reception before it was replaced! The sofa bed mattress offered no comfort or protection against the hardboard base and the beds squeeked verytime you turned over. The room was serviced and towels were changed twice a week, bed sheets were only changed once a week. Ther gardens were maintained and there are two pool areas - one is by the club house and has new beds and is supposed to be heated; the other has all the old beds and is quieter. Both pools were clean however, from what we saw the beds were stacked only once a week and a man with a dust pan and brush swept up here and there and we never saw the area hosed down and cleaned properly.
Although appearing friendly the attempts by sales staff to interest you in ther wonderfully refurbished apartments gets annoying and they should be grateful my husband fended them off! Their comments added insult to injury and I had to bite my tongue!!
Finally, at £250 per week this accomodation was not 'cheap' and the standards fall far short of our expections having paid the same for private accomodation I would not recommend this accomodation to anyone unless you got it for a song!!! Having said that many of the people we met were on their second or third visit - I can ony say that our expectations vary, we all paid different amounts for the accomodation and for some location over accomodation won the day. I would also point out that had my review been completed during our stay it would have included more detail about the poor condition of the rooms and would not have been as complimentary as it is now.

I've never stayed at this hotel, but found the sales people very off putting after dragging myself and my boyfriend off the street.....they gave us a scratch card and of course we won a dream holiday....which was all part a scam to get us to buy time share.
* Show room was very nice
* location was good,
* staff very rude and pushy
* hotel looked dirty
overall I will never stay here, and advise people to stay away there only interesred in your money for time share!
