We didn't fancy paying £900 each for a week in Tenerife but had to escape the depressing UK weather so happened to come upon a cheap week over New Year in Costa Teguise and jumped at the chance even though the reviews of the apartments were varied.
Flights and transfers went very smoothly and check in was very efficient. The apartments are supebly located on one of the main streets in the resort (there are only 2 or 3 main streets in Costa Teguise) so bars and restaurants are literally on your doorstep. First complaint is that you have to pay Euros 15 (plus a refundable depost of 10) for a safe deposit box. Even more ridiculous is that you have to pay for a TV card at Euros 3 per day. I don't go on holiday to watch TV but I do like the option to catch up on weather/news etc so not too impressed by that.
We had rooms 120 & 121 on the first floor right over the pool bar. Fortunately, it wasn't particularly busy so didn't really experience much noise except, obviously, for New Years Eve when the place was occupied till 2.30am. The rooms were what we expected; in need of a total refurb but relatively clean. On closer inspection it was obvious that the cleaning is more a cursory dusting and mop during guest stays but don't expect a full sparkle clean between guests. The quality of the furniture is very basic and tired and the kitchen cupboards need ripped out and rebuilt. Our balcony door was also in need of a good joiner to ease the guide rails and from what I heard so was every other balcony door. Moaning aside, the rooms are very spacious and if you are like us and only use the room for sleeping and changing in then they are just about acceptable. However, if you intend using them to cook food and make dinners then look elsewhere as they are way below tolerable standard. One other item that may irritate some guests is that every room has interconnecting doors on both sides. This was great for us as we could access each room for a glass of beer/wine etc but not so good if the people next door are smokers or like to listen to TV/music when you don't. Fortunately our neighbours were very quiet non smokers so were were lucky. You may also need to take joint showers as the volume of the water tank is too small for decent showers and so forget about a long luxurious soak in the bath.
The apartments seem to be frequented by middle aged couples and I can only remember seeing 2 or 3 kids so that's a bonus if you are not partial to the dulcit tones of lung-bursting screaming cherubs.
Overall, I would only recommend these as a last resort as I would imagine that during peak season they would be packed to the rafters with noisy youngsters due to the cheaper cost of the accommodation.
Very difficult to pinpoint a great room location due to it's tight location between pubs, the ba...
