This is a very welcoming hotel. The staff are always smiling and work very hard to please. This was our second holiday here, and were looking forward to another lovely holiday, but unfortunately there were a few things which disappointed. The standard of the food was disappointing. During Christmas and New Year the quality was good, but immediately after the holiday the standard went down considerably.
The surrounding areas to the pool and walk ways need repairs. The hotel needs freshening up as it is looking quite tired in certain areas.
There is no area apart from reception where you can go if the weather is inclement.
It is good to know that one of the pools will be heated soon, as the water was freezing when we were there. It is still a lovely place to visit and with a few improvements could be excellent.

My mother (66) and I (38) spent another lovely two weeks at the Coronas.

Having been numerous times, we find the 'garden suite' type of room suits us best with the separate living space and private patio.

As vegetarians of 20 years plus we find food on any holiday limited, but this year the cooking staff at the Coronas seem to have made additional effort with the offering. Although we did not attend the gala dinners for Xmas and New Year as the queues to get in and the scrum for the food are ridiculous, you would think people hadn't been fed for a week.

I cannot really comment of the entertainment as we only went once years ago and had to walk out due to the high volume.

All of the staff are very helpful and friendly, Naty and Pablo in the restaurant, Jose in the bar, all
reception staff, the porter, the gardener and Mary our cleaner!

If you have a garden suite, you should know that the paid for wifi signal is very temperamental, in our room (248) it only worked out on the patio.

Bit of both really.
Went for my wife's 50th,I'm pushing 60 and are virgins at going at this time of year, never been to lanzerote. Had read all the reviews and well aware of the mature clientele this was no problem but I suspect leads to my major Grumble, the food, it's not bad or cold, reasonable choice, totally edible but BLAND and unimaginative. I suspect the kitchen has no seasoning, herbs or spices, also all veg was frozen. For the week there was only one paella dish, other wise Sunday dinner but for the majority this is what they like so the hotel gives them it.
Whilst I'm on the grumble and why I only give 3 stars is how a 4 star hotel charge for a kettle, make you pay for the UK TV channels and have horrible soap dispensers is a new one on me.
Now the praise,
On arrival the staff had a smile which never washed off and checkin well organized.
We had booked a suite, room 250 end of row, very little extra,so we did have a kettle. The bedroom and lounge were very large which did give the room a bit of an echo. Yes we did have a flat screen TV but no channels you would want to watch, yes I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV but it is nice to keep up with the news in the morning. The one downside with the room was it faced a wall and therefore got very little sun and meant you could not sit out the room in the sun. If I was to go again I would stay with the standard room on the side.
The hotel itself is in a good position if as us you like a walk, the flat promenade gives you a 10/15 walk into the centre of town with numerous bars and restaurants if you want to eat something other than a Sunday dinner.
The entertainment in the pavilion is not bad but again geared for the older majority who seemed to lap it up and most nights were still dancing as we walked down to our room. Having said that we never book a hotel for the entertainment.
All the rest has been said in other reviews and I can see the attraction of this hotel to a certain group.
And just to finish I went in the pool 3 times!

Room Tip: Stick with standard room on the side.

We have just come back from a lovely holiday at the Coronas Playa, but whilst we enjoyed it, faults are starting to appear. When we arrived it was still the high season of New Year - the food was excellent, plentiful and hot. However as our time progressed and it went more into a lower hotel price we found that the quality of food deteriorated. No longer was there so much choice, it wasn't as hot (it was often only lukewarm)and the staff didn't replenish the buffet servers as often and it was repetitive with things appearing to be recycled. The area around the pool bar wasn't kept as clean as the other areas. Whilst the hotel is nice it lacks the WOW factor that you get in many more modern hotels and the Foyer in particular could do with sprucing up. However as the majority of the clients at the time of our visit were elderly, they were probably wanted a comfortable hotel with predictable standards of service. You do get the impression that Thomson's are skimping on things like shampoos, soaps, towels and food whilst at the same time making a fortune from guests - its certainly not the cheapest place to stay. On the plus side - the rooms are enormous. The situation of the hotel is fabulous and the staff.............well they are all second to none and it is because of the great standard of service that this hotel boosts repeat visitors. Everyone did their job efficiently with great humour. The waiters are all hard working - don't know when they ever get to rest. Lesley and Les aided by Chelsea and Sharneice made sure the evening entertainment was always lively and the majority of the profesional acts were very very good. There is room for improvement with this hotel - updating and, a heated indoor swimming pool where the tennis courts are (non one used the courts when we were there) whould be really good.

Went Jan 5th 2014 for a week the rooms are huge, not exquisite but nice and spacious, all balconys facing the sun. All the staff were great always helpful and being all inclusive they could not fill your glass up quick enough. The public areas were always clean and tables always kept clear of used cutlery etc. The two pool bars were well stocked, even branded drinks and ice creams were included. I agree with some reports of food could be hotter but having fresh eggs and bacon made meant it was hot, also I found stiring some of the warmers such as beans made them warmer but this was not a problem as plates red hot. Loads of types of fresh breads were on hand, some to carve yourself , pools too cold to use but solar panels installed ready to connect anytime. My only issue was WiFi was 25 euros a week per device which would be about a 50 quid per couple with two devices but rep said it was due to be free in April 2014 .you can pick up freewifi in Costa teguise itself, the beach has a free one and most bars. All in All great hotel and service and will be going back next year

Room Tip: Rooms 300 + are ground floor to the reception but one floor up near the beach end , garden rooms onl...

Lovely warm weather with lots of sun and temperatures over 20C. This hotel is rated as 4 star. Our experience would have to say 2.5 to 3 stars. Threadbare linens and towels, industrial soap dispensers in the bathroom (bring your own toiletries including soap) and beach towels if you want them as they are not provided without charge and only to deluxe accommodation. No free wifi (25 euros a week - not four star standard) and no free kettles (12 euro charge per week if you wish to prepare your own tea and coffee).

This is a resort for a much older crowd (75 and over). Activities are gentle stretching exercises or beanbag boules. Nothing for active people.

Restaurant meals are adequate but typical, wine list mediocre.

Thomson staff are excellent and very helpful. They met us at the airport, greeting us in English which was wonderful to hear in a foreign country. They bent over backwards during out stay to provide suggestions and excellent customer service.

Would we go back? Maybe. If you want to lie in a deck chair and read books for the time you are there, this is the place for you! If you want some physical activity, then we are not sure this is the place to be as it is geared to adults only with limited activies.

Room Tip: Don't choose a room above the bar - it's really noisy. Ask for a room with full sun and she...
