“Could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2009

Stayed in a two bedroom apartment with two children and my wife. The apartment was way below the standard that we expected. That was perhaps because of the image that Thomas Cook staff gave us upon booking in the shop. The rooms were large but very dated and not that clean. The pool area is good and them entertainment staff could not be better, genuine and friendly to the point where we now miss them. The restuarant and bar are very dated and so is the remainder of the complex. The toilets in the main block were leaking for five days with the only thing done to them was towels put underneath to catch the leaking water (the same towels that are in the rooms). After the five days they were removed from the wall! We stayed all inclusive and ate out several times due to the terrible food. It was chips with everything else which was not a lot. The food gave me indegestion and none of the people I spoke to appreciated it. It was a good conversation maker that helped us make several good friends (we all moaned about the food together). With a lot of financial investment this place could be really nice but until I would say it is only a two star. Nice beaches 10 minutes walk away but very quiet and cirtainly not for people without children as you would be bored daft. I would not recommend the hotel for any reason other that Mo and Andy the entertainers, without them we might hacve come home early!!!!

Well i will start by saying we had a fab holiday. we had fantastic weather for 10 days we were there. we only paid £550 for the whole 10 days self catering so we wern't expecting 5*. The rooms were very basic with no cutlery or anything to cook with. rooms were cleaned frequently but towels could have been changed a bit more. take travel cot as i wouldn't want to put a dog in the ones they provide!! the pool area was nice and well maintained however the kids pool with slides had no sunbeds around so you couldn't sit and watch your children you had to go and sit with them every time they wanted to go! we met some lovely people whilst we were there and my young boy aged 6 and daughter aged 4 had a wonderful time with all the other children. my baby aged 6 months was a dream .only fault was there was no shade and they chargerd you 12 euros to hire parasol!!! from what we heard the food was awful and made a lot of people ill so beware! we ate at many retaurants incuding legends which made me and my husband ill for 2 days food is disgusting so dont waste your money. go to the portabelo for a fantastic meal we found it on the last night which was a shame!! night life good at cactus jacks but hotel entertainment no good! we were lucky enough to be given all inclusive wrist bands by people who went home the day after we arrived so made full use of the free bar!!! try it cause they dont check! we would go back to costa teguise but maybe try a better hotel.

Ive just got back from a one week stay in el trebol and was a little worried about some reviews. All i can say is - are you thinking of the same hotel?
From arriving to departing i can't think of anything i would complain about. The rooms are basic but satisfactory, everything you would need - Living room with couch, with a pull out bed, coffee table, dining table and chairs, small kitchen with cooker, sink, fridge/freezer, pots, pans and cutlery, the bedroom had 2 beds and bedside tables, with a more than big enough wardrobe, and the bathroom had the usual - bath/shower, sink, mirror and toilet. They were all cleaned well troughout our stay.
The hotel itself was well kept, clean and tidy.
The dining hall was something else! The amount of variety and choice was enormous and changed everyday, all was cooked to perfection and couldn't have tasted nicer.
The pool bar is medium sized and has snacks throughout the day for all inclusive guests, which were also different everyday.
The pool was rather cold but that isnt an issue for me so no complaints still.
The piano bar was lovely, kids disco and bingo followed by entertainment that changed everynight with the exception of thursday, when there wasnt anything on.
Situated in a beautiful area equipped with a supermarket, bars, restaurants and souvineer shops literally just outside, and only a 5 minute walk from the beach.
I would recommend el trebol to everyone, and will definately be going back!

After reading previous reviews we were a little unsure of what to expect as they appear to be a very mixed bag. We went with open minds thinking that, if it was awful, then we'd just use it as a base to sleep in. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the lovely reception area and the rooms, although quite basic, were fine.

We had booked to stay half board and thought that we'd try the food and if was awful then we'd eat elsewhere instead. The first evening was an eye opener. The restaurant was ok but the food choices seemed a bit odd and nothing seemed to go together meaning that you ended up with a plate of strange concoctions. It was ok but nothing better than that. Breakfast was slightly better with more usual food offerings but diabolical service and not enough staff members on to cope with the clearing up, washing of dishes/cutlery and general tidying. Throughout the week we had problems getting cutlery, plates and glasses at breakfast. Some people resorted to bringing their own, from the apartments, with them. We ate out 4 nights out of the 7 and had lovely food then.

Our main gripe was the noise and poor manners of other British holidaymakers. There were many large extended family groups whose main aim seemed to be to get drunk as quickly as possible, shout and swear as loudly as possible and neglect to watch over their children. The pool area, on the one occasion that we tried it, was the same only with added littering. We couldn't face the evening entertainment or the bar as people were constantly queueing for drinks.

We paid £350 each for the week and this was definitely over priced. We didn't have high expectations and this proved to be the right attitude. It is at best a low 2 star aparthotel with the only 3 star feature being the reception area .

As the weather was great we made use of Las Cucharas beach and used our hire car to see a bit more of the island and the tourist sites. Lanzarote is a beautiful place and Costa Teguise is a great base to explore from so we were pleased with the island.

Advice= Unless you are a large family party wanting to lay by the pool, eating and drinking all day with other large families pay more and stay elsewhere in Costa Teguise .

Had a weeks stay in Aparthotel El Trebol. shown as three star hotel and this is exactly what you get.

Arrival the reception area quite compact, check in quite painless. Directed to room on third floor.... No lifts and a fair trek with luggage etc to find room.

Room was basic but clean. 2 single beds fridge, cooker etc. However you had to hire everything else..from the TV channels to a heater, a fan and even a ketlle!

limited crockery and had to buy own cups.

Towels only changed twice a week but you have to ask or thet don,t bother.

We went half board and boy were we glad! the Food was good enough but very limited 1 or 2 weeks of All inclusive was not a good prospect. We watched our fellow guests with wristbands queing up for 1 small drink at a time without envy.

Breakfast was ok but why the small side plates?.

Staff generally friendly the usual odd surly member of staff who obviously didn,t want to be there.

The pool. First off no shade anywhere, not great if you are sun sensitive or have young kids. You could (You guessed it!) Hire a sun shade....Not good enough El Trebol!

Plus side, kept clean by staff every morning, however green astroturf round pool is pretty grimy and smelly. The usual even in November of people reserving sun beds with towels despite signs. Not enforced as per usual so why bother!.

Didn,t try entertainment so can,t comment.

Resort ok but quiet. Can recommend the trip tp teguise market on Sunday. Book through Legends pub and they throw in a nice Sunday lunch for 10 euros each. The reps take 10 euros just for the coach!

Overall a nice quiet holiday and you get what you pay for!

The holiday was the best I have been on so far. Thomas Cook did all the work for us and it made this holiday the best ever. The Apartment was amazing… really big for two of us. We had a kitchen even though we were on all inclusive so me and my partner went to the shops and got some bread so we could make toast instead of getting up early for breakfast. The food was really good and we had a different thing every night and then it was repeated in the second week. We had massive salmon steaks, Mexican night, Sunday dinner, Chinese night, loads of choice for kids and loads of good salad stuff like tuna salad and mixed salads. We found an amazing takeaway pizza place called Verona which we used late at night when crawling in after all the free cocktails which were also amazing! The hotel is clean and the staff are hilarious and really helpful. I must recommend the volcano trip as well. We got to see a live volcano which erupted about 500years ago and the tour guides show you how hot the mountains are in the national park by letting you see loads of experiments including a volcanic oven and geyser. We went to a house built into the side of a volcanic mountain and we went on a boat trip for the day. I read all the reviews before I booked to go to this hotel and having seen others while over there and having such a great time at El Trebol I would not hesitate to recommend it. 10/10

In late October this year, my family and I spent a week at El Trebol apts on H/B basis. We were quite appalled at the quality compared to what we expected. The maid service was non -existent, the room was basic and due to it being only locked by a small, rusty, ill fitting bolt our security was in question.
Everybody complained about the quality of food and the attitude of some of its staff. The choice is very limited and was either: uncooked, cold or plainly just uninviting. Even the fruit and salad looked tired and limp. A very large amount of guests including us had little choice but eat out! All we heard all holiday was complaint after complaint about the poor standards, especially about the food and staff.
The A/I guests were more angry but even those self catering felt ripped off when they saw all the excessive extras charged for cooking equipment etc. I advise everyone to avoid El Trebol as it is barely a 2 star venue. The only thing it has in its favour is its location. But I will definitely not be returning!!!
