“A sunny week at the 'El Trebol'”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

Please remember these are my comments!
The El Trebol.......Well as the first time in Lanzarote what did I expect? A little better I think from a 3 star rated hotel. As you will read, it’s the little things that go a long way.
3 levels and no lifts.
On arrival the reception is nice and airy. Shame about the guy on the front desk at the time, he was a bit miserable. The others were fine. May be he was having an off day the 3 times I spoke to him during the week.
The room was a good size for a couple but would have slept up to 5. It was kept clean 5 times a week. We were surprised it wasn’t clean 7 days a week, but not a too much of a big deal making the bed twice during the stay. The towels were changed when we wanted. It’s a good job we didn’t want them changing on the cleaners days off. Some of the towels had had their day(attached pic), they looked like the kids had been playing tug of war. Had to pay for the TV, hair dryer....What!! Not included, afraid not, not all inclusive in the room. The balcony overlooked the pool which was great.
The pool area was tidied every day and the poll cleaned every day too, where was the room cleaner? With plenty of sun beds it’s great for the sun worshiper. At the time there were only a few fixed parasols to get away from the sun. Are there more when it is a lot hotter? The pool bar had more than enough refreshments, drink, food and ice cream to keep you going between meals. Some activities take place most days like darts, crazy golf and big splash competitions.
The restaurant is a decent size but a little crowded at busy times. On our first time there the head waiter was very helpful, he told us how it all worked, were things were etc. The food was plentiful with a good variety of meats, pasta, salads. The soups are always good and the deserts ran out very fast every evening. Again help yourself to the beer, wine, coffee and soft drinks.
The piano bar where it all happens at night! Not quite...They have various things to keep you entertained during the evening with only 1 day off for the entertainment team. Some nights have a professional act on which to be fair are the better nights. I did like the lady who squeezed herself into a small box. Yes, they do play bingo, also guess the tune and a singing entertainer to mention a few. But there was always a funny smell when you enter the bar, they said it was cleaning materials, I’m not so sure. It smelt like someone brought something back up after a night out, Who knows? There are seats outside the bar in the old reception and outside to relax and chat about your days adventures.
Overall, not that bad, great for families with young children. I would rate it 2 stars. Like I said at the start it’s the little things they have forgotten that go a long way. Been to better places for better price.
Now the Thomas Cook rep.....No.. will not go there, I will save that for another day...she wasn’t very helpful and the trip prices too high.

'Love the island and the people'

Room Tip: Our beds were good. Room over looks the pool.

dont know why people moan about this hotel our hol 2 adults 2 kids 3 & 7 was birll had a week here rooms were cleaned 5 times in the week with fresh towels, room was very big and had a kitchen in with fridge even though we were all inc on the ground floor over looking the kids pool pools are cold but once you in it find & kids dont care.
Food pleanty to eat & choice was good think you would have to be really bad eater not to find some thing you could eat. Only thing id like to see in this hotel is table and chairs out side as was only sun loungers to use. lovely grounds & pools cleaned every day, kids entertainment on a night kept the kids happy.

This was meant to be a cheap and cheerful holiday from the outset, so it's really not made any huge impression on me! Travel agent (TC) didn't market this as an apartment hotel, so I was a bit shocked when checking in to see it was in fact that. Should have looked closer when booking probably. The hotel reception is probably by far the smartest bit of the hotel! It doesn't last long. The rest is your typical spanish build: only shaped like a clover (El Trebol). Apartment was decent enough though, split double bed, sofa bed, TV (was coin operated when I visited), kitchenette with fridge and table and chairs.

The rest of the hotel varied: pool was ok, bit chilly and it doesn't benefit from much sunlight as it's right in the centre of the building. Few hygiene problems on a couple of days with it. Made the mistake of being all inclusive, as it was only a tiny little bit more then half board. So hello wrist band unfortunately..! I cannot for one second find a positive thing about the hotel's restaurant. It was appalling. It's all buffet style (fair enough) but it's been entirely English/American based so I may have well just eaten at home: it wasn't good, it was frequently cold.

The bar hosts regular entertainment, which is great if that's your thing. Short walk to some shops, and beaches aren't far. Car hire I would recommend Sixt as they offered a good deal. There are some local companies literally a few paces from the hotel too.

Would be great for families! If theres just a couple of you- I'd say look for alternatives.

All in all, it was fine. It was cheap so didn't expect much. But maybe a few improvements on the food would have upped my rating. Maybe I'm being picky. Probably knowing me.

just returned from the el trebol , we went all inclusive and really enjoyed the hotel, this is a reasonably priced 3 star resort, the room was large and recently refurbished, cleaned regularly and clean towels etc every other day. there is no air conditioning though, but they rent you a fan if required ,which is a bit naff at 15 euros .so that is not all inclusive, also you have to pay for the tv if you want it..again not all inclusive.must admit it is the first hotel i have been to where they charge for tv, but didnt want it so it didnt matter,
the grounds are very well kept , people cleaning and gardening everyday.the four pools are excellent, they were very cold ,but after a while in you got used to it.the food was good ,plenty of choice, and there was always something we liked. service was good .. the bars were good and always very friendly bar staff.there were snacks available all day in the pool bar and sandwiches late at night in the restaurant.a shame about the shops and bars outside all closing down, but thats what all inclusive does to these areas..overall a pleasant stay ..

Just returned from a week at El Trebol. Overall it was very good for the money we paid. 2 adults and 2 children, 18 & 15 , for £1600 all inclusive. The food was fine , the weather was perfect, and the room was spacious although a little tierd. The staff were friendly and the maids did a good job cleaning the room etc. we would have no problem in a return visit at all. Like lots of the reviews it is simple. You get what you pay for!! If you want 5 ***** then you need to pay 5 ***** prices.

Excellent hotel staff and location, rooms were clean and spacious linen was changed 4 times while we where there rooms had a good clean twice, food was really nice and a massive selection so didn't get bored of it at all, entertainment was good, good for kids and the local acts where great but get there early to get a seat as the bar isnt massive. Hotel was quiet enough to get a sun lounger at any time but busy enough not to be boring. been back less than 24 hours and already looking at when we can go back. Went on a few of the days out, submarine safari, fire mountain and tequise market all booked cheaper through local companies than through Thomas cook, market was booked through a nice bar just around the back of the hotel called cactus jacks, and the submarine and volcano was booked through a fantastic company called 'Last Minute Travel' who i couldn't recommend enough
