“Excellent!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2012

We stayed at the El Trebol for 10 nights between the 3rd and 13th of May. After reading some of the reviews we were worried as to what to expect but once we arrived we realised there was absolutely nothing to worry about. The hotel is lovely, the staff are friendly and the entertainment team work very hard indeed. We had an absolutely fantastic holiday.

Ok so the hotel rooms are not 5* but I would not have expected that, they are a very good 3* which is all I could have expected for the price paid. The bathrooms are nice and modern and the shower is excellent. The rooms are cleaned almost every day and the towels were changed every three days. I have to admit the beds are not overly comfy but after a busy day exploring the island that becomes less of a problem. The best part of the room in my opinion was the large balcony. There are two double doors leading from both the bedroom and from the living area onto the balcony. We stayed on the first floor and I found this to be great. The balcony does also have a washing line so you can put your wet clothes out after a day at the pool. The biggest downside to the room however was the lock on the doors leading to the balcony; It was placed in easy reach for my four year old to be able to open by herself which did make me feel uneasy, especially at bedtime.

The main reason we chose this hotel was for the slides pool which we thought would be perfect for our four year old and thankfully she loved them. The water was a tad cold but my daughter didn't mind and I noticed that after you stay in the pool for a little while the water doesn’t feel as cold. We didn’t use the other pools as much but they were all nice and they were cleaned regularly while we were there. The only concern I had with the slides pool is that they don’t get turned on until half past 10 and they are turned off at around 10 past 5. Therefore to gain a sunbed near to the slides pool you have to be down way before they are actually turned on. Yes you do get people who put there towels on the sunbeds a daft o’clock but the morning time is usually windy therefore blowing the towels away. There was always sunbeds available throughout the day but the slides pool only has a small area containing 5 or 6 sunbeds so to get one there you have to be down early. One other problem I found was nude sunbathing, ok so I’m not one for complaining but some people or person was sunbathing topless by the kids pool which I just found totally inappropriate. If you are to do such a demeaning thing you should keep it to your balcony or the adult’s only pool, NOT the kid’s pool. I think the hotel should have more rules in place about this sort of thing. Anyhow we didn’t let it spoil our holiday!

The food was lovely, nothing to complain about there. Although I am a very fussy eater I always found something to eat. For breakfast there was everything you could want on a full breakfast, there was a choice of cereals, a choice of bread rolls, croissants, cakes, doughnut’s etc. but for me the best breakfast was freshly cooked pancakes topped with hot melted chocolate, it was gorgeous! For lunch there was a large choice of food ranging from pastas to pork. There was always a wide choice of different food and there was always chips. The salad bar was also great, it was huge and everything was delicious. Dinner was similar to lunch except there was more choice, lots of different meals to choose from and lots of little snacky bits too such as pizza, chicken wings, ribs etc. Also there were different themed nights, during our 10 days we had an American theme, a Chinese theme and an Italian theme, all were lovely and the choice of different food was welcome. The only downside to dinner was the deserts, everything wobbled? It wasn’t for my liking anyway, there was a choice of ice creams but after eating one that was labelled toffee which actually turned out to be coffee I was a little put off. There is fresh fruit however which is great for the kids.

The all-inclusive drinks are better than expected; there is a wide range in the restaurant such as fizzy drinks, tea and coffee and soft drinks such as orange, apple and pineapple juice. There is also beer, wine and sangria available in the restaurant, these are all help yourself. The pool bar and main bar have a wider choice and when we had ran out of drinks to try the kind bar tenders made us a selection of different cocktails to try out. Although the alcohol is defiantly weaker than normal the drinks are still nice and very refreshing. Especially the orange juice, I would recommend trying that with your breakfast.

The pool bar is fab, it has food such as chips and burgers and it has as much ice cream as you can eat. The pool bar also has better flavours such as strawberry and cookies and cream. There are plenty of places to sit whether inside or out.

The entertainment is ok, it’s not excellent but it’s fun. Much goes on during the day but we never got involved with this although we did sometimes watch and we witnessed things like grown men belly flopping into the pool and holiday reps getting thrown in, which I’m sure is fun for some but it’s not our cup of tea. We would go to the evening entertainment which was much better. It starts at 8 with the dizzy and shades shake down which my daughter loved. It involved lots of games and dancing but they do get parents up to dance so ifs that’s not your thing I wouldn’t advise getting front row seats. Bingo starts at 9 which is rather expensive at 5 euros a night buts it’s fun. The entertainment at 10 differs, one night we had a reptile show which was great and we got pictures taken with the snakes but then another night we had a show called African boys which was dreadful so avoid that one if it comes back again. All in all though the entertainment was ok and it wasn’t all geared towards children, they did have Mr and Mrs while we were there and rock the room which was all good fun but then children loved the stuff like the falcon shows.

The kids club was ok but shame we didn’t know about it earlier. The kids club is right at the back of the hotel where you would never consider looking, we therefore didn’t find out where it was until two days before we were leaving. It’s a shame as my daughter liked the time she did spend there and the kid’s club staff were very nice and friendly. The kids club has some great stuff going on during the day so take a look at it.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday, the hotel was lovely, the staff were lovely and the area was also lovely. There is so much to see and do and I would definitely recommend getting out of the hotel for a couple of days and going on some excursions. We found the Rancho Texas park to be an excellent day out.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the reception are quieter

I stayed at El Trebol for one week 8-15 May with my boyfriend. We paid £776.00 for the week for both of us and have to say, would have paid more.

There was lots of fresh food everyday and a brilliant variety each evening. Entertainment wasn't the best but was centred around children and therefore, good for families. However the location was fab and just a short walk from the town where there are plenty of bars and restaurants-beer very cheap and bars nice for a change of scenery.

Hotel and room were very clean and there is lots of pool space and didn't have any trouble finding somewhere to catch the rays. Weather was fantastic and Lanzarote is a beautiful place. We did the trip to the volcanos and also to the Sunday market in Teguise.

Overall, we had a brilliant time and honestly cannot think of anything that spoilt our holiday. We would both go back there and can't believe that we were at the same place as the people that have written bad reviews!!

Apartment although on third floor was excellent, kept clean and tidy, bedding changed everyday. the restaurant and meals were first class, the pools were good, reception were very kind and helpful, only blind spot was the situation and view directly outside the trebol apartments

Room Tip: choose apartments on south side overlooking pools and near the restaurant and bar/club

Just returned from week at El Trebol with our 18mth old son, first holiday abroad with him. For the price and rating I can't fault these apartments. We were given a ground floor apt which was ideal with the buggy and the terrace was safe for our son with no risk of him climbing and falling. Staff immediately provided us with a cot and list of other baby equipment that could be hired.

The appt was cleaned every couple of days and beds made daily. Everything u needed was there.

The pools were great, two lagoon style (one shallow) and one toddler pool. Although cold at first we were soon splashing around and given it was early may you can't complain.

Many of the restaurants/bars close to the apts were closed or in need of a bit of attention (probably different in peak season) but it was only a five minute walk to the beach front where there were some lovely places to eat and all very welcoming to kids. Quite a few playgrounds dotted around the resort too.

Would recommend and return to these apartments.

I stayed at the El Trebol from the 22 to the 29th of April with my wife and 2 kids who are 2 and a half and 1 and a half years old and we all had a really fantastic time, don't believe the bad stuff on here as long as you're not expecting the Ritz you'll be fine, its not a 4 star but you don't pay for a 4 star so as long as you don't expect too much you'll be happy. The rooms were in need of some repair here and there but comfortable enough (To be honest we were out all day everyday and only slept in them so weren't too fussed about the room, by the time we got in bed after being in the bar till late we were more concerned about the way the ceiling kept rotating as we lay on the bed than how well it was deqcorated!) The food was fab there was so much choice it was hard to know where to start and it was all good quality stuff and to top it off the restaurant has a self service bar with as much beer and wine as you fancy. The only pool we used was the kids one and our 2 loved it the slides etc are ace the only down side is none of the pools are heated so the waters cold. The kids didn't care though and I found a couple of brandys from the pool bar soon helped warm things up a treat. At night we took the kids to the mini disco (starts at 8 sharp) which the kids loved then stayed for the rest of the entertainment all of which was ace each evening was a really good laugh and lots of fun. All in all a fantastic holiday with as much food and booze as you can put down your neck in a well presented clean hotel with lovly warm weather, what more do you want for the price. Also a couple of tips firstly there is free WiFi in reception password was Trebol2012 when I stayed, helps keep the data charges down, second if you want a front row seat around the dance floor so you can keep an eye on the kids at the disco etc you need to be in the bar by half 7 at the latest as the bar fills up quickily after dinner and thirdly the place has a kids play area that's not on any map its behind room 157 which was our room if we had been on the other side of the hotel we would never have known it existed. Enjoy.
