“Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

My wife & I spent two lovely weeks at this hotel from 3-17 March. We paid extra in advance for a sea view room and was tempted to upgrade to a superior one in advance too but decided to wait til we arrived & see the basic room before we committed ourselves. We paid about 168 euros extra for the sea view for a 14 nights. When we got to our room (144) we were pleasantly surprised, especially after reading some previous reviews. It was big, clean & had everything we wanted & a beautiful view so we saved ourselves the extra money for the superior room. If you want to go round inspecting every aspect of the room sure you can find faults. If i'd paid a lot more money and was expecting a 4 or 5 star room i wouldn't have been impressed but we'd paid very little (apprx £600 each for 14 nights all inc.) so i thought we'd got a very good deal for less than £50 pppn.
Our first couple of days the weather was a bit dodgy, in fact we landed in a storm and were lucky we actually landed at Arricife because lots of flights had to be diverted to other islands., But after that a the weather improved and we managed to sunbathe most days around the pool area. The help yourself drinks at the bars work perfectly well and as one bottle runs out it is replaced.
Food at the pool bar is more than adequate for a snack, burgers, hot dogs, chips etc and the buffet restaurant was much better than we expected. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner and always managed to find something nice to eat. (still trying to shed the xtra pounds now)!
The evening entertainment that we saw was much better than we had seen at other places and Ali the bar man is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome. He works very hard and keeps the place spotlessly clean. Thanks Ali. We went out into the square quite a few nights and sat outside a bars having a nice drink listening to live music. Had a few meals in the square too. All the restaurants seemed to be very nice, out of all the people we met i never heard one say they had a bad meal. Had a couple of late night kebabs from the 'filling station' too. Delicious!

Stayed here for one week 14th March all inclusive. Apartments were very dated could do with a lot of maintenance, our toilet leaked everywhere but the maintenance man came straight away and put mastic round the bottom which fixed the problem. The pool area was quite nice but not enough beds or umbrellas and that was in the winter. Food was ok, mostly the same day in and out, breakfast was the best. There were no bar staff at the pool bar or the disco bar you just went and helped yourself, even In the restaurant. The disco bar is dire like an underground bunker. We went out for dinner a few nights and the best place was just near the square, The Grill Casa Blanca, good food and good value for money. Good point was the weather was lovely.

We stayed at the hotel in march for a 7 night all inclusive holiday.I would just like to say that the hotel location is excellent as was our room apartment overlooking the pool on the 3rd floor. The reception check in was fast and efficient, we paid 3 euros for the safety deposit box not unreasonable. Hotel entertainment was good but mainly geared for Spanish and Germans but not a problem, they are very friendly. They FOOD was luke warm at breakfast and evening meal, the presentation of food was poor and quality of a basic standard. The staff work very hard but could do with the odd smile as if they were enjoy working, but as for the all incl.drinks its a self service which really works very well and was not abused, the wine was most drinkable. We traveled with Thomson and First Choice holidays and our Rep whose name was Tara was a very friendly and pleasant girl with one years experience who did say if we have any complaints about anything to speak with her (correct) but you do hope that the food will improve as your week goes on.You cannot make a complaint on first impressions afterall you are abroad. Overall Hotel good, location excellent, weather very good, food needs improving,Only just a 3 star. Last comment BOOK your trips with Customer Travel and save money, very safe, reliable,Maria our travel guide excellent for Customer Travel. Hair dryers available from reception.

Room Tip: room facing pool on 3rd floor no 326 good. but no aircon in rooms.

we have just returned from the barcelo la galea..check in at reception was good..we were allocated room 140..a studio with seaview..no kitchenette or fridge..inter connecting door which was okay for 4 days then the new loud neighbours arrived!! the maid service was poor..holes in sheets..old tv..plugs hanging of the wall.. no hairdryers.. toilet paper scarce and generally poor cleaning..the bars opposite on the corner were noisy at the weekend..the windows were not great and the door not safe..the entertainment was poor..downstairs and more for the spanish and germans which were in abundance..the staff were very friendly..the food in the restaurant was good but repetetive.. with red and rose wine of acceptable quality..the pool was cramped and cold..the poolbar snacks and help yourself drinks, ice cream were good our only complaint were the heavy smokers everywhere..the gardens were well tended..costa teguise is great with hippy market on friday night and some excellent restaurants with good atmosphere..best to hire a car and visit the island..autoreisen are excellent..overall a great winter sun holiday close to the beach meeting expectations..but not up to the usual barcelo group of hotels we have experienced before..

Room Tip: sea view rooms are windy and noisy..pool rooms get the evening sun..not worth up grading to the new...

First the down side our room was very tired with a badly chiped bath. Also the area around the pool being to small for the amout of rooms ( not enough sun beds and very cramped) The up side we were all inclusive for twp weeks and never had to eat the same thin twice. The position of the hotel is excellent with acsses to the beach out the back of the hotel down some steps or via a lift. Staff are very helpfull the rooms and hotel are very clean just need a bit of TLC Our room was serviced daily ecept Fridays and towels were changed if you feft the over the bath and our bed was changed every other day.

Room Tip: Ask for room over looking the sea

Stayed here for a week at end of Feb, was on an AI basis.
We were on a top floor, it rained and the roof gutter poured water onto the external balcony outside our room. An accident occurred and a report made.
The following night there was another shower, again not very safe, worse still there were no lights on on the balcony!!
No one from the hotel said a word to us or made any kind of enquiry into what had happened!!!
I actually saved them work by placing a towel at the door to prevent out apt from being flooded, all the staff were worried about was the lower floors being flooded.
Best meal was breakfast, lunch and dinner was ok.
Thomson Rep was not great, and seemed a bit in awe of the hotel management.

We have just returned from a lovely week all inclusive at this hotel. The food I thought was very good, quite varied. The apartments were basic and beds not very comfortable. They were serviced only three times and we almost ran out of loo paper (had to pinch some from a cleaners trolley) and would have liked clean towels sooner than when we got them. The shower was very hot which was lovely. We had a sunny balcony so sunbathed there 5 out of 7 days as had no intention of using the pool as it was freezing! We used the sofa cushion. Also it was nicer than being surrounded by smokers. The pool bar was smoky too which wasn't very nice but good to be able to help yourself whenever to drinks and snacks. The evening entertainment was ok,not really our cup of tea but the team put in a lot of effort and were obviously gifted in their field of dance etc. The proffessional acts were actually very good especially the acrobats. The whole complex is very well laid out and very attractive. Only down side really was the cold wind. I hadn't taken enough warm clothes. At this time of year it's probably wiser to take autumn weight stuff and height of summer stuff. We have previously been in Lanzerote in July and October when the wind is warm and welcome but its not a pleasant wind in Feb..........burrr! However, despite a mix of weather, hot, dull, sunny, cloudy and even rain we got a lovely tan and had a great break. Would return but not in Feb.

Room Tip: We had an upper floor apartment on a corner so had a large balcony that got the sun until about 1pm...
