“Q. Would I return? A. Definitely!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Just returned from a one week stay at the BlueBay Lanzarote. We travelled as a party of eight. First impressions were good. Rooms clean, well appointed (including kettle, fridge, hob and kitchen sink - in an all inclusive hotel?). Spacious balcony - we stayed in "E" block where you could find solitude from the sun and noise of the pool in the afternoon should you so wish. There is a good pool bar with self service beer (Cruzcampo), coffee, tea, hot chocolate, soft drinks and water. You can also help yourself to burgers, hot dogs, chips and salad from the pool bar between about 10:30 and 18:00. There are loads of sunbeds around the pool. The hotel does have a policy of not reserving sunbeds by removing any towels at 09:00 though I never saw this enforced. No glasses are allowed around the pool so all drinks served or taken outside are in plastic glasses which is fair enough. The restaurant serves decent food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast was a choice of fruit, cereal, toast or full cooked (bacon, eggs or omelettes, sausages, beans tomatoes), You can help yourself to as much or as little as you please. Lunch was a choice of one or two meat dishes, fruit, salads, cooked vegetables, pasta, rice dishes and pizza. Dinner was similar to lunch but with a greater choice of meat and fish dishes. Chips were available at every sitting - yes breakfast included. I ate like a King for a week. The main bar inside the hotel was okay - we preferred to sit outside even though it meant going to and fro' with plastic glasses. There is a separate "theatre" providing evening entertainment for children and adults (we stayed at half-term and had two little ones in our party). The theatre has its own bar with air-con. I am not one for evening entertainment so didn't attend any of the nightly shows - those in our party that did had a good time. The drinks were the only low point for me. Although the beer, vodka, white rum, brandy and Tia Maria were good, I didn't like the gin. The wine was awful (apart from the self-service red wine in the restaurant which was very good - but only available at meal times). Sadly none of our party tried the whisky so can't comment. The children enjoyed the kiddies cocktails. All staff were very welcoming, pleasant and helpful. We had a maid service with fresh towels six days a week and the gardens were beautiful and meticulously looked after. A very laid back and friendly hotel. Well situated - nearest Supermarket and ATM 300m, Playa Bastian beach 600m and Costa Teguise main beach 1200m. Q. Would I return? A. Definitely!

Room Tip: Rooms close to the bar will require less leg work.

Travelled alone with my 8 year old daughter as my wife is pregnant and could not travel and we had a great holiday. Nothing bad to say about the place really . IF I had to pick on anything a little negative I would say that the pool bar snacks were not the best , but you could eat in the restaurant anyway at lunch.
Food good , pool good , room good , service good (and with a smile) and self service drinks around the pool is a very good idea. Never had to wait for drinks or food in the week we were there and it was half term (19-16/10). I think that just about sums it up !
Hello to the Lichfield family , Abbie says "Hello Emily", and also to Halifax Rob and his tribe! I think a good time was had by all
Enjoy

I stayed here for 8 days in September, the location was just right for me- around 10 mins walls from the resort which meant lovely peaceful nights with no outdoor noise at 3, 4, 5 am etc...
The food was good (not fantastic) but it did cater well for its customer base..... there was a good variety and you could eat healthily there was a large salad bar and there were a variety of meat options but there were also a lot of chips everywhere (even at breakfast!) But this is what most of the guests appeared to want so not the hotels fault, and as I said earlier you could eat a varied healthier (non yellow) foods menu which I managed without complaint.
The evening entertainment was CHEESY and not my taste but it is what is expected for Spain..
The hotel was clean, well presented and the staff were friendly. The rooms were very nice, practical, well presented and large, the balconies also had plenty of room and very well designed which meant you weren't overlooked by other balconies which I liked.....
The swimming pool was clean and well presented, there were a few tiles missing but not enough to warrant the comments of some of the previous (and overly critical) reviewers. The hotel said they were planning to close the pool for a week in December for a full refurb of it anyway so it shouldn't be an issue going forward for anyone.
The pool area was always busy but it was strangely quiet, mainly couples and older people who were mainly reading, the pool was also not used by many people so it was great for me as I love to swim!
Oh and there were never any queues at the restaurant or the bars which was great for such a large hotel.
The local resort beaches were also quiet and a great alternative. The resort is that of a typical Spanish holiday destination, what more can I say.

Room Tip: Block B is away entertainment which can be noisy

Just returned from a week at Blue Bay with two children, 4 and 6. Had read reviews so were prepared for the bad pool, i.e all the tiles coming off and not that clean so we took pool shoes. It was as cold as people make out, kids were in every day despite the bad weather we had when we were there, not much sun during our stay. The rooms were excllent, well equipped even though it was all inclusive. Kids slept on sofa and pull out bed, was confy enough for them. Apartment was cleaned everyday and clean towels so very impressed. Found all the staff very friendly, the garden, Lola at the outside pool bar was very friendly. The animation staff were excellent with the children and the day time activities were very well attended. Kids club was also good if the kids got bored of the pool. The mini disco each nigth was a big hit, and loved the dances they learnt and we even liked the cheesey songs!!
Food was very good, and as with most AI buffets it can get a bit boring but we found something different to eat each night. The best nights were the themed nights, spanish and chinese. Icecream was very nice, walls and soft drinks were branded so very good. So all in all can't fault the place, was spotlessly clean, staff polite and helpful, just the pool needs refurbishment.
Shuttle to beach was convenient but could also walk to the local one 10mins walk. All in a all a good week sonly disappointment was the poor weather we had.

Room Tip: Block E 318 over looked tennis courts was very quiet and got the sun til it set, although didn't...

Myself, my husband and 3 children aged, 10, 2 and 5 months have just come back from 2 weeks here. We had a lovely time! Our apartment was right onto the kids pool which was fantastic as we were potty training our middle son and being only meters away from our door was perfect as there are no public toilets around the pool area.
Beds and rooms cleaned 6 days out of seven but sadly the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in!! I had to put 3 blankets under the sheet as for the first few days I was in a a fair bit of pain.
Food was good, plenty of choice and warm. The beach bar is Ok providing you go when they are cooking the burgers as the hot plates don't work and the food soon became cold :(
The pool area is clean and tidy although many tiles in the actual pool were missing, however while we were there they were attempting to rectify this in an evening.
Sunbeds are in abundance but pretty uncomfy! if you sit by the baby pool there were 2 slightly more comfortable ones, but most people popped a Lilo on them to make lying more comfy!
Evening entertainment was typical, bird shows, reptiles shows etc but the Mini Disco ( or Mini Tesco as my son called it :D) was good. MY main gripe was that all entertainment is inside and it smells foisty in the room but after a few cocktails this can be forgiven !
Staff at the hotel couldn't be more cheerful or helpful and in the restaurant the waiters were fabulous.
We met some lovely families around the pool and would definately come back again x

Room Tip: If you have young children with Prams etc rooms in Block C on the ground floor are fabulous x

This was the 4th time we have stayed at this hotel and it was as good as ever.
Food was plentiful and an abundance of choice including kids food, fish, meats, pasta, veg and salad.

The typical spanish problem of sunbed reservations has been solved, with the hotel rule of any sunbeds on sunbeds before 9am will be removed - and the hotel stuck to the rule.

The pool does have some loose tiles on the floor - mainly where people get in and out - but the maintainence team repair it at night, using adhesive to restick the tiles down.

Rooms are great - a one bedroom apartment, with a power shower in the bathroom. The room is modern with a sofa bed and pull out bed underneath, a kitchen table, and a small kitchenette with a fridge and kettle. The bedroom has two queen size beds.

Entertainment is cheesy but fun. The animation team work really hard, Lucie, Diego and Fran get everyone who wants to be involved involved, but don't annoy people who want to be left alone. Lucie also runs kids club between 11-12.30 and 3-5 all the kids loved it.

All in all a highly recommended hotel - we will be making our 5th visit in the near future!

Room Tip: Blocks D and E are in the quiet area of the hotel, Block AB, B and C are close to bars, restaurant a...

Myself and my friend stayed here from the 10 oct-17.we had a really lovely week. our room was lovely and was cleaned 6 days out of the 7 Unfortunately my bed was very uncomfortable i could feel the springs in the mattress.\The air conditioning was great to keep the room cool. The food in the restaurant was very nice, there was always something for everyone to choose from, though we did think they could improve a bit on the desserts. we didn't avail of the evening entertainment so i cannot comment on that.we both used the health spa, as a treat i had a massage and my friend had the reflexology we would recommend it.There wasn't a problem getting a sun bed by the pool as there were loads of them around.we did buy a lilo to put on them to make them more comfy.taxis are very cheap €3.20 to get to the shops near the beach, which is about a 15 min walk.. all the staff at the bluebay are very friendly.i do have an issue with a door that was locked ,i have e mailed the company about this .and am waiting for a reply back from them. The market on Sunday is worth a visit. All in all we had a lovely week here and i would highly recommend the bluebay

Room Tip: we were in room ab 207 it was an ideal location , but the downside was one of the beds was really u...
