“Good Basic Value for the Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

After reading many of the reviews, I was a little anxious to say the least about staying here at the hotel, however it was actually okay for our use, the staff were very helpful and polite.
We stayed on a self catering basis so are unable to comment on the food or drinks, however the hotel does seem to cater for those types who wish to stay by the pool and drink and eat all day.....
The room was basic but clean and in one week we saw the maid twice - more than adequate given our use of the room.
Only one comment to make that seems to be have been said before, if you want five star luxury then you really need to pay five star prices.
One criticism if at all, the beds are very hard....
Good, cheap accomodation that provides a base to explore Lanzarote.

where do i start.the hotel from the outside looks very nice and the receptionest was very helpfull. The room`s are very basic and the beds are hard and uncomfortable, air con consists of a ceiling fan only in the bedroom. Not enough sunbeds to go around and they are dirty, seats around the bar area have lumps of wood screwed into them very uncomfortable. All bar drinks are served in plastic cups which u have to wait along time to get a drink as Hamza liked to talk to everyone and ignore u while u was stood there, the beer is san miguel, no fresh juice of any kind, all dyed sugar stuff, daily cocktail waste of time, meals are repetative hake every day! u have to set your own table for breakfast lunch & dinner. The Volcano Grill excursion is worth a visit, u can have dinner on top of the volcano which the food is cooked on, 45 euros each. The beach is about 15 minutes walk. Basically the area is nice but the hotel let it down, would class as a 2 1/2 star, as holiday co sold it as a 4 star!

The food was terrible, didnt see a cook the whole week we were there the food was just left sitting. The selection of desserts was poor as well. The pool bar was very under staffed with one barman serving drinks and cooking bar snacks in a tiny oven. The bar snacks were very poor as well.the entertainment was the worst ever. The area and the weather and the company made the holiday, Would not recommend this hotel at all.

My husband and I have just returned from one week spent at the hotel.

I will start by saying when we arrived we were greeted by the reception staff of which some dont hardly speak any english we were given the keys to our room and we were pleasently surprised by the size of the room we decided to go fully inclusive the food was much the same every night, they defently need more variation at this hotel, you can have food from the bar at lunchtime I had a burger at lunch time which to my surprise was cold and would not recommend anyone to eat you can have pizza but it very small and not enough for a lunch time snack.

They advertise the use of jacuzzi and sauna but you have to pay for it! 15 euros for half an hour and 25 euros for 1 hour.

The Evening entertainment is rubbish consisting of bingo and music they have good entertainment for children and have a couple of shows in the week which are ok but nothing amazing very short they have a reptile show and a bird show. The bar man Hamza is very friendly.

Costa teguise is a nice area to stay in and is not very far to the local beaches and we saw many tropical fish when snorkling the water park only up the road from the hotel is a good day out.

I hope you will find this information useful if deciding to stay here .

we arrived at the hotel, after a short flight from Manchester. The welcome was not very friendly, and the women didn't talk to us in English. We just had to guess what she was saying as she was ramming paper in our hands. when we arrived in our room, we found it very basic and not what the pictures displayed. all we had was 2 hobs. one which was broken and a microwave, so self catering, which we were, was pretty hard. along with this we had to request cutlery, and a tin opener. this is poor for a self catering. there was no kettle or toaster as we had to rent one. we didn't even look into the cost, but to rent a tv remote was 10 euros so we guessed it would be costly.

the pool area was far to rammed and not enough sun beds, we felt the bar service was poor as there was one bar man and there was always a que for drinks. which i will add the cocktails were not very appetizing. then again that's what you would expect from a cheap all inclusive, hence why we chose self catering.

the beds were solid and very uncomfortable, like concrete. we used the extra bedding in the wardrobe to pad them out to make them bearable. on the first day we had an ant problem in the wardrobe and had ants all over our clothes, i asked someone to fix it. they sent a man to the room who knew no English, and i said it needs filling, all he did was take the socket off the wall and put a scrunched up piece of toilet paper (next to live wires) and replaced the socket. very dangerous.

however it wasn't all bad as in the 7 days we were there the cleaner came in 3 times. very short stay though, made the bed and changed the towels, mid week she mopped the floor.

we would never stay here again,

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from our stay at this hotel for a week (5-12th july) and all in all had a brilliant holiday and stay at this hotel. The rooms were spotless and were cleaned every other day. As we went all inclusive we were really looking foward to the food that would be available. After the first few days the food tend to repeat itself with the same food being served but the quality of the food cannot be faulted. The hotel itself had a very good and friendly atmosphere around the pool and the pool bar in the daytime and at night time in the hotel bar itself. (note to self: GET UP EARLY IF YOU WISH TO GET A SUNBED) As a couple we found that with the bar only being open till 11pm a bit of a hassle as some nights we just wanted to stay in the hotel but didnt want to go to bed as early as 11pm when the bar closed. (If your looking for vibrant nightlife, this is not the place) The hotel bar has various shows on at night including reptile shows and cabarets which are quite entertaining. We filled our week with day trips and days out to the aqua park (which is a ten minute walk from the hotel), went on a grand tour of the island and a trip to the teguise market which is a good shout if your looking for a bargain!..Some of these trips can be booked at the hotel but some you have to book yourself from a little excursion shop about a 15 minute walk from the hotel where the main bars, restaurants and shops are. All in all we had a good time here and would reccomend to couples that want a relaxing holiday or families.

Right, let me start by saying that I am used to cheap / budget holidays. In fact, this was my 4th holiday of the year - so they have to be cheap! However, nothing prepared me for our stay at Timanfaya Golf.

We arrived at the hotel at 2.30pm, after a 4 hour flight - so with the journey to the airport and check in time etc, we had been awake since 4am. We were told by reception that our room wasnt ready (without so much as an apology) and that it would be at least another 1 - 2 hours before it was. This clearly wasnt acceptable and after a little protest we were suddenly found a room we could use. It's also worth pointing out that during this 10 minute spell at reception I witnessed three people demand they were moved rooms.

To be fair, the room itself was huge and clean - This, and only this, was the only positive of the entire holiday (although the maid service "every other day" didnt happen, and we had to ask TWICE for our room to be cleaned after 4 days of it not having been).

Out of our 7 days there we only managed to get a sun bed around the pool once. This was because people were getting up early and reserving them with towels and then going about their business for several hours before returning. This selfish act actually ruined the whole holiday for us. When we complained we were told if we wanted a sunbed we too should get up early and reserve one (which we did on only day we got one). Queuing for a bed at 9am (because they were locked up until then) which then turned into a free for all once they became available was no fun. I've never seen grown adults physically fight for a sun bed before and i hope I never do again.

If you do decide to ignore my advice and book here - be prepared not to be able to spend a single day around the pool. Oh, and I've never been spoken to so rudely as the "lady" at reception did to me. Yes, it's cheap, and if you only want a room, then book. If you want a relaxing holiday where you can lay around the pool - avoid.
