4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

We first came here 5 years ago and have been back each year since, we will be back again this September. Cannot fault it and have never heard guests being foul mouthed or crass. Staff are friendly, food is excellent and hotel is clean. Looking forward and can't wait!

Visited this hotel for our family Summer holiday (in a group of 5 adults). Upon arrival, the reception area and front of the hotel were impressive and check-in was very efficient.

Rooms:
Although the rooms were a little bit basic (and we had been upgraded to "Superior" rooms) they were comfortable, clean and tidy and we had a brilliant view over the pool/beach (If you want this, you need to ensure that you book a superior, otherwise you may not end up with the stunning view!) They were a great base (because who wants to spend too much time in their room)

Pool Area:
There were always sun beds available by the pool each day, although many people were reserving some of these (and sometimes not returning to them until late afternoon - a little unfair for others). The pools were great with a shallower pool if you just wanted to cool down and a deeper on if you wanted a proper swim around.

The pool bar was open for a good amount of time each day, and the only issue with this was the fact that there were sometimes long queues, with only 1 staff member working and the queue out into the blazing Sun.

Main Bar/Entertainment:
The main bar was good, Loved the fact that some of the seats rotated round. It wasn't particularly well set up for the evening entertainment, with some seats behind pillars, and the front of the stage overlooking the water feature. There was a packed programme of entertainment if you wanted to stray from your sun bed during the day with sporting activities and competitions. The evening entertainment ranged from flamenco dancing, to Beatles tribute acts, to acrobatics.

Restaurant:
We went all-inclusive, so had access to the restaurant 3 times a day. There was always a good range of food, and even though I'm not a fan of seafood (which featured heavily) there was always an alternative so everyone was happy. The themed nights were particularly good (Mexican, Italian, Mexican, Spanish and my personal favourite Canarian).

Location:
This was definitely the best feature of the Grand Teguise Playa. Right across from the beach, on the promenade and a short walk from the Plaza Pueblo Marinero (a market square by day, bustling square of bars with live entertainment by night). Whether you wanted to stroll out during the day to find shops, or wander out at night for food/drink, you were never far from something to do. We found a great agency who organised trips so we got out and saw the island (some trips were offered through the hotel, but we specifically wanted something that the didn't offer - A Jeep Safari)

We would definitely return to this hotel. In my opinion, it would be 5 out of 5 with a bit of TLC to the rooms/communal areas - it feels like it's just about due a refurbishment to bring back it's sparkle.

Room Tip: Book a Superior room - this puts you on the 5th/6th Floor overlooking the sea/pool.

stayed here the last weekend of june. after reading reviews we went with an open mind, glad we did. on arrival check in was quick and polite we were given room 320 on the third floor, although in need of a referb the room was clean and tidy. the view from the balcony was of nothing but ocean.
outside in the corridor however was a nasty smell which the cleaners did their best to remove every day. we went all inclusive and found the food to be very good, champagne for breakfast was a nice touch. we never had a problem finding a table, likewise for the sun beds although many beds were reserved, which is against hotel rules but not enforced. there is waiter service at meal times in the restaurant for drinks and at the main bar in the evening. from cleaners to kitchen to reception to barmen to grounds keepers they all have a smile and friendly hola. all in all a great week end.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting. It is disappointing in that some of the staff were rude, a lot of the guests were loud, crass and foul-mouthed. On one occasion there was a physical fight for the sunbeds in the morning! On occasion I saw a big brown rat coming from the direction of the dining room with a piece of bread in its mouth, it ran across the pool area and jumped onto a pushchair with a sleeping toddler, the toddler woke, the rat ran away leaving the bread. Then the toddler proceeded to eat the bread that the rat had carried in its mouth. Disgusting! This all happened while the parents were in the pool next to the pushchair. I looked to where the rat had run and found copious amounts of rat droppings on the ground just outside the hotel perimeter next to the beach. There must be more than one. Yuk!!!

Room Tip: Do not choose rooms around the atrium because of noise levels.

We have just left the Grand Teguise Playa and had a very pleasant stay.

We booked the hotel back in May and have been watching trip advisor reviews of this hotel for a while. Some of the reviews have not been great so we had little expectations, however we have had a wonderful stay. The food is very typical for an all inclusive hotel and there was always a lot to chose from. The themed country evening in the restaurant were all very enjoyable with the staff dressing up. In the restaurant Sammi one of the waiters was always very happy and friendly with a great personality which made meal times very enjoyable.

The poolside entertainment was very good with all manor of activities Pilates, Zumba, shooting, mini golf, along with paella making and chocolate wraps. My daughter attended mini club on most days and Anna was the most attentive to the children, the kids loved her.

The poolside snacks were a bit disappointing with many other 4 star hotels iv stayed in offer pizzas, crisps, nuts etc. There could also be more of a selection for the kids than just tubs of ice cream, it would be nice to have a ice lolly. Tomas was the main poolside waiter who always wore a smile and cracked a joke.

Yes the early morning reservations of sun beds was a pain but you get that everywhere. A lot of the sunbeds around the pool were broken or just not working correctly so this could do with attention.

The views from our 6th floor room were stunning. The rooms were ok, the bathrooms were a bit dated but the cleanliness could not be faulted, it was really nice to have a fridge in your room. The hair dryers are terrible and should be removed from the rooms.

I was disappointed that room service did not offer the hire of an iron, however if you are there for 2 weeks they offer a 48hr wash and iron service which is very good.

My only extreme negative of this hotel was the masseuse in the gym area who decided to get very aggressive with myself and 2 children when we went to view the facilities.

I would definitely return to this hotel, you can see they are trying to make improvements and with constructive comments on trip advisor they will certainly succeed

The hotel has a fantastic location, and is so central that no matter what you want to do it won't be far away. The restaurant is very good and the staff work very hard, the food is varied and more than plentiful, with theme nights and bbq cooking on alternate lunchtimes. The staff are welcoming , efficient and can't do enough to help.
The rooms are in need of upgrading which we were told is due to happen in october. Having said that they offer everything you need given that you won't be spending all day in them. The are cleaned daily, as is the whole hotel.
Quite simply we wanted for nothing and I am sure we will return.

Returned from this hotel on 4th August, 2014. Great location extremely clean, yes rooms do need up dated but for all the time you spend in them they were adequate. Food so so, breakfast best time of the day however, not sure chips should be served. Salad very poor basically lettuce grated carrot tomato cucumber and beetroot every meal. We ate out every evening as the choice in dinning room not to our taste, heard a few others say they weren't impressed with the food either. Eating out was very cheap and loads of restaurants to chose from. Disappointed that there was no water supplied in fridge in room. Entertainment every evening but we are not too bothered about this as it wasn't too good. Drinks of good quality, wine we found very good. Staff not too friendly probably because they work constantly, only one bar open in the evening which was always busy, once a week they opened the pool bar which we think should be open in the evening also. Pool water freezing so didn't venture into pool until around 5 pm and they are salt water. We really enjoyed the hotel and the location and will definitely go back however self catering is the way for us as everything is so cheap.

Room Tip: Rooms on 5th and 6th floor have great sea views.

Dear Guest,
I read very carefuly your post, and I'm really happy you finally find the right product that suit you, many other guest love our AI service which consist on a buffet who catter for 600 guest every service and ould not be compare with a la carte restaurants in town. They are not good or bad they are simply different. Fortunately in Lanzarote we have a varied range o touristics products, from bars, restaurants, apartments to AI hotels like here.
Even if you prefered the Bars outside, at Hotel we have proffesional shows, live music and an Animation team wich work really hard and make the delights of adults and children.
Tipp - At Lanzarote never rains, there´s any waterfall or water sources, the water supply comes from desalination plants which take basically the sea water, extract the salt and supply water for agricultural and sanitary purposes. Water is really precious here so most of the hotel pools have a mix of salt and desalinated water. Sea water is very healthy.
Nevertheless we take good note of your dislikes, and considered your comments very valuable, as our main concern is to offer the best service to our guest.
Sincerely,
Laura Diaz - Deputy Manageress
