This will be our 4th MW holiday and Hotel Lakitira is the nicest hotel we have been to. We chose to book a superior room, (without kids for the first time and we chose to come back) which included bathrobes (for skinnies with short arms, curvy folks need a modesty towel as well), flat screen tv (mainly news station, BBC & Sky) We had a sea view & balcony. Tea & coffee making facilities as well as a bottle of water on arrival in the fridge..Surprisingly the room was cleanly carpeted, as were some of the corridors. There are lifts also, as the heat does get to you if you are 3 floors up.
The bathroom was very spacious with a glass shower screen attached to it and the shower was excellent and it did not flood. Some complimentary toiletries were provided. On the corridor to the room the view was of some more appts being completed and there was some building work going on, but it did not impact very much. Gated security access to the hotel as well and there always seemed to be someone on duty.
Lots of kit if you are water sports enthusiasts and lovely waterfront staff. Good beach for sunbathing and a nice beach bar to sit in the shade. Good tennis courts too and the adults only pool was very restful, this also has its own bar and lifeguard. Childrens pool very hectic as it was half term.
Restaurant food was nicely prepared, lots of salads and a choice of hot meals at lunch and dinner, with tea, coffee and water from dispensers. No bottled water handed out at mealtimes now. Notice on the dispensers that water provided may only be drank in the restaurant. Wine list expensive in the restaurant, so the best thing is to buy it at the main hotel bar and take it in with you, roughly 16 Euros as opposed to 25 Euros.
There is a shop just beneath the restaurant selling suncreams, beachwear , knick knacks etc, but did not see much water or food in there to purchase. Computers in the main hotel lobby that can be used for internet.
Viking Airlines seemed to be ok, quite generous with space and legroom we thought. Looks like they are Excel planes painted over, XL logo on the trolleys anyway. Short delay on outgoing and incoming flight and also had to sit through 2 safety briefings, one in English, then French which seemed a bit pointless, but the airline is registered French/Canadian we were told. Transfer to resort quite seamless, about 15 mins ride. Mark Warner staff all quite young and helpful and friendly. The welcome meeting was more of an introduction to the key staff, but you could ask anyone anything you needed to know.
The week we were there MW had taken in a Christian group of people who could not stay at the hotel they had booked into, owing to some archaeological finds there that had to be investigated. I think most of them were very appreciative and really enjoyed Lakitira. All in all a lovely resort, just be aware there are planes flying overhead most days as its on the flight path and no nightlife to speak of apart from the bar which could prove expensive.
