“Loved the rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2005

I was very wary after reading the reviews and almost didnt go. I am glad I listened to my boyfriend though. Arrived at the hotel and immediately checked in. Our room was MASSIVE. he bed was bigger than super kingsize which was great for my boyfriend as he is so tall, but he was nowhere near hanging of the bed!
Rooms, the hotel and all areas were very clean, which I was surprised at. Weather was nice about 25 degrees everyday. Pool was freezing though, we think they may have set it like this, although once you got in it was ok.
Sunbeds were available no matter what time you went down.

Disappointed with the food, choice was wide but usually a varietion on the same thing. Always pasta, chicken and salad with a choice of veggies. We didnt go hungry though. No entertainment either here, better for older people and couples wanting to relax, but you can go over to the Akti club which is a few mins walk.

Free bus into Kardemena is a bonus, but if you dont make those times buses run regulalarly from outside the hotel for 1euro.

Overall a good holiday and would probably go back again.

after ariving in the middle of the night was greeted by the receptionist who didnt speak much english. was put in a room next to public toilets(very smelly) the walls were covered with splatted mozzys. the bathroom was filthy and the whole room just smelt. the worst of all was they didnt know we had a baby so didnt provide us with a cot had to put the baby on the bed and didnt sleep much as was frighted of him falling off. Couldnt change room till morning. second room was cleaner but still very basic dull and gloomy. We read on here b4 we went so we knew in advance not to eat here as food was c**p so we ate in other hotel which was better but not much. (ther was a note saying "if food is cold please use microwave to heat up" - what a joke!")

Arrived after a 4 hour delay with my wife and 3 kids, only to be put in a room that we later found out use to be a storage room.
Then after alot of talking to the manager and a rep with no interest, was moved to a better room. The wife only went to breakfast once, and I only went so that the kids could eat something.
Down at the Acki, 50M away, it was better, food ok, but entertainment not great.
Staff friendly, but not really interested in putting them self out, apart from the maids (dena) who could not do enough for you, even to the extent of taking our washing home for us and bringing it back ironed.

Were do i start!....we arrived at the hotel at 2am, and straight away you have to pay out 50 euros for your air con and a remote for a your tele but dont worry you do get it back at the end of your stay ...but what use is then!....then another 20 euros for the key for the safe! but you dont get that back!.....checked in and never got shown to our room we had to look for it on our own in the pitch black!....opened the door to my room it was terrible i asked for a pool/beach veiw instead i got a road veiw!! i actually said i wanted to go home after only being at the hotel for half an hour not even that....the rooms are very small, for a shower we got a small shower tray and a curtain and the performance out of gettin a shower was unbelieveable the whole bathroom was flooded even leaking through into the main room, the beds dont get me started on the beds they were solid!!!! not at all confy and they were so low down i would recommed you take a pillow with you as you onlu get a small pillow...i was using the cusions of the couch in bed to it was that bad! The next day we went to have our breakfast....if you like "COLD CHIPS" your ok the food was horrible and cold get this they had microwaves there and a sign sayin if your food is cold please reheat in microwave you shouldnt have to do that when your on holiday i certainly havent seen anything like that in any other hotel! FLYS everywere yet they had nets that they could of covered over the doors to stop them coming in..... sitting by the pool and me and my mum decided to go have a swim in the pool we stood there for about 10 mins tryin to get in the cool it was that cold.....finally got used to the pool being cold we noticed the pool was that dirty there was little insects swimming init! i have never seen anything like it!....one man walks round with a little hose wetting the floor if thats there idea of cleaning theyve got to be joking!.....one lady actually in the end had to go to reception and complain that the baby pool had bits of wood and leaves init were they havnt cleaned it so a man come out with a net and only got a few bits out and left the rest. 3 days the pool was dirty in the end thy gave up and cleaned it but even when they cleaned it there was lumps of the powder they put in at the bottom of the pool everywere! NO ENTERTAINMENT at all not in the day not even in the night time but yet of you go down to the akti they have all entertainment going on for the kids music scuba diving you name it they had it and at the night time they had a show every night it was fantastic one night they had greek music show and they had everyone up doing the traditional dancing it was fantastic and the akti is only a couple of mins away not even that....we went to the welcome meeting and our rep said by the pool we have none slip tiles....well i actually sliped i dont know how many times in one day and for the rest of the week the kids were fallen over were they get out the pool and start running to the other end. i also seen one kid fall down the stairs in reception and hurt his back. we went down to the akti for our tea and it was out of this world compared to the other hotel i recommend you eat at the akti they have a big grill were they will cook grilled chicken or some kind of meat right infront of you and you know its freash too. they make pancakes too they have melted chocolate to go woth them or other toppings. they say its all inclusive but you have to pay for DIET COKE ! whats that all about and you have to pay for cocktails and all your acoholic drinks! at the night i asked for a hot chocolate and she said you have to pay fo it but why should i pay for it when i have come all inclusive and i can get it free in the resturant!.....In the book it says daytime snack your day time snacks are ham , cheese and ham or cheese toasties, ice cream but you have to pay for a magnam or something like that.....and chips!....so over all i recommend you DONT go to the kalimera kos but if you do book it go to the akti its much better!

Before going to stay at the Kalimera Kos Hotel in Greece, I actually came on this website to read the reviews, which as you can see are very mixed, and slightly concerned me. However once we arrived we were pleasantly surprised.
There were six girls all aged 19 who were up for a laugh at night but by day wanted to chill, take it easy and catch a good tan.

The hotel complex is very spacious, clean and well located for a relaxing, sunny holiday but was easily accessible to the town by a 6 euro cab ride taking only 5 mins. Or you could get a free bus that came more or less every hour, with the last one coming at 22.00 meaning you have plenty of time to drink your all inclusive drinks.
The drinks were quite limited. If you wanted any English brands such as diet coke or fresh orange juice you had to pay, also for things like archers, Smirnoff ices, red bull etc.. meaning you were restricted mostly to beer, wine and vodka.

The food was reasonable in this hotel, but there was much more of a variety at the Akti, which is the Kalimera Kos' sister hotel, which you could also use.
The food was nice although it seemed as if they had poured a whole shaker of salt into each dish.
There were a lot of fly's and mosquitoes around, but this is expected in such a hot environment.

The pool bars are made out like a small canteen and are a waste of space as they only serve only ham and cheese toastie’s, chips and local drinks.
The pool is quiet and mainly for couples, kids and those who want a more relaxing dip. If you want loud music, games and teenagers you need to go to the Akti pool 2 minutes away.

I do agree that this wasn’t up to a 4* standard more like a 3* but was very reasonably priced for what you got.

I would recommend this hotel to couple, families and also partygoers that want to chill in the day. This hotel is for everyone.

Hope this review helps!

P.S The hotel is right by a small beech, meaning it is quite windy, meaning you catch a tan without even knowing . Hurray !!!!

The Kalimera Kos is possibly the nicest hotel I have ever visited in my life. It was excellent in so many ways. Firstly, I must say a huge hello to 'Gabrielle' and her friendly daughter and also Smiler & Co. There is a real family atmosphere at Kalimera and I did feel as if I had made friends for life on this holiday.

The food was 5* - absolutley wonderful every day. The salad were mouthwatreing - especially the sprout salad. The white wine was also excellent and we often refreshed ourselves by indulging in a big of vergina.

The waiters and hotel staff were excellent especially Geroge Jak Bibba who runs the pool bar. He would always deliver service with a smile and would read his love poetry to us. The team animation were excellent and there performances were not dissimilar to what you would expect to see on Broadway or London's West End.

The rooms were great - everything we needed and offered a private terrace too. The maids cleaned the rooms daily and did an excellent job in doing so.

This hotel really is the place to be if you want a 5* relaxing holiday. The use of the neighbouring 'atki' hotel was an added bonus.

I would go back tomorrow, if I could. And for 409, you really cannot complain. Over to the hubby...who will now share his comments.

it were a lovely holiday and i reallly feel like a gave the missus a treat, the rooms were lovely which meant that hannah and i could spend lots of time (how can i say this...?) conseunmating our relationship. watch out for george jack bibo though, the missus was swept over their feet. lovely folk those kos people and they make a wonderful sprout salid (as the missus has really pointed out). anyway, enough from me, back to the old ball and chains...

we loved it, you'll love it, the world loves it: kalimera kos forever!

This is a small lovely Greek hotel about 3 mile outside Kardamina, don’t expect 4* more like 2* but very clean. The pool bar serves local drinks and toasties/chips during the day,Sevvy is the very excellent barmaid who cooks, cleans, washes tables and always has a smile for you.The food is at best OK,this is Kos..but no worse than other hotels I’ve been to in these islands. The rooms had mostly a smallish shower but air conditioning to keep you cool throughout the nights, maid service was good and the rooms very clean. If you come to this hotel with an open mind..you will really have a pleasant Greek holiday,If you are expecting to click your fingers and think services will be there on demand ..maybe you should go elsewhere!
This is Greece..good value…hot sunny weather although there’s always a breeze/wind about. The Hotel is grouped with the Akti, which is great for families as there are lots of activities to keep them busy, the restaurant at the Akti is much larger and has more choice than the Kalimera Kos,the other hotel Kalimera Mare does not share with the other two,we were charged when we went to buy a drink there and to be honest..its very bland..no tree’s etc around the pool, wouldn’t like to stay for more than one drink anyway!!
The beach is rocky,we only went there once..you really need flip flops as it hurts your feet getting in and out of the sea (oh my..)!!
Kardamina is a beautiful place before the teenagers turn it into a highly charged electrified nightclub around middnight, great places to eat around the picturesque harbour and the food really excellent.
We booked a Greek night in an agency along the main street saving ourselves loads of dosh from the organised hotel trip, this was far the best venue for a Greek nite ever, the sunset was unforgettable, take your camera!!..but don’t leave it behind after all the free wine!!.The sound of those live Greek guitars..the food… the views ..will stay with us forever through the long cold British winters.
