We've just returned from a 2 week stay at the Porto Bello Royal... I'm so sad to have the leave the place. As you can tell from the photo's its a stunning place!
We arrived on an early flight around 4.20am, the hotel was only 15 minutes away from the airport (if that). Check-in was brilliant, he gave us a map of the grounds, instructions of how to use the free safe in the room and a timetable for the hotels free bus and the public bus. The bell boy then took our luggage to the room and expained how to use the air con. There was a complimentry fruit bowl, red wine and cans of soft drinks and water in the fridge which was a nice touch.
It is hard to describe the room, they were by no means a disappointment or let down however looking at the hotel grounds you'd have thought the rooms would be abit more modern. We had a double room with sea view (the view was amazing). The beds were very comfy, the bathroom large, and was cleaned daily. There is a TV with cable channels, I think the only english ones were Discovery Channel, MTV, and BBC News. There was also a hair dryer, shampoo's and bath foams, robes, slippers, and plenty of wardrobe space. We where only there to sleep and get ready so it did its job perfectly.
There are 5 all inclusive restaurants. 'Ambrosia' which is the main dining hall that served breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late evening snacks. They had loads to choose from like greek salads, fresh fish, pizza's, soups, pasta and the list goes on. The others you had to book 1 day in advance, 'Tavarna' Greek restaurant and the Fish Restaurant only did lunch which was a buffet, then the Asain restaurant and Italian Resturant only did dinner. We tried them all and they all were very nice! They also had an icecream bar which opened from around 4pm. We also went to a traditional greek resturant in Kardamena called Avli. The food here was absolutly amazing and a reasonable price, its a beautiful seeting in a little courtyard! I would definatly recommed this place to anyone. www.avlirestaurant.gr
There is a pool were every you look at the hotel and even though the hotel was full when we went you never struggled to find a sunbed. The pools are very salty though!
There are 3 bars in the hotel.. 'Pool Bar', 'Beach Bar', and the main bar. They all did a variety of drinks and cocktails. There was always a live singer in the main bar at night and they had greek night every wednesday. They also did shows everynight or you could get a free bus into Kardemena (or taxi approx 8eur), so you didn't struggle for anything to do.
The hotel was quite out of the way, but only a ten min drive to Kardamena. The town itself isn't much to be honest, its more for clubbing holidays but they are some nice shops, bars and resturants, its worth a little look. There's other things you can do though like day trips to turkey or a trip to Kos Town.
To sum up, we absolutly loved this hotel and are looking to go back next year.
