“Perfect Holiday!”

We've just returned from a 2 week stay at the Porto Bello Royal... I'm so sad to have the leave the place. As you can tell from the photo's its a stunning place!

We arrived on an early flight around 4.20am, the hotel was only 15 minutes away from the airport (if that). Check-in was brilliant, he gave us a map of the grounds, instructions of how to use the free safe in the room and a timetable for the hotels free bus and the public bus. The bell boy then took our luggage to the room and expained how to use the air con. There was a complimentry fruit bowl, red wine and cans of soft drinks and water in the fridge which was a nice touch.

It is hard to describe the room, they were by no means a disappointment or let down however looking at the hotel grounds you'd have thought the rooms would be abit more modern. We had a double room with sea view (the view was amazing). The beds were very comfy, the bathroom large, and was cleaned daily. There is a TV with cable channels, I think the only english ones were Discovery Channel, MTV, and BBC News. There was also a hair dryer, shampoo's and bath foams, robes, slippers, and plenty of wardrobe space. We where only there to sleep and get ready so it did its job perfectly.

There are 5 all inclusive restaurants. 'Ambrosia' which is the main dining hall that served breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late evening snacks. They had loads to choose from like greek salads, fresh fish, pizza's, soups, pasta and the list goes on. The others you had to book 1 day in advance, 'Tavarna' Greek restaurant and the Fish Restaurant only did lunch which was a buffet, then the Asain restaurant and Italian Resturant only did dinner. We tried them all and they all were very nice! They also had an icecream bar which opened from around 4pm. We also went to a traditional greek resturant in Kardamena called Avli. The food here was absolutly amazing and a reasonable price, its a beautiful seeting in a little courtyard! I would definatly recommed this place to anyone. www.avlirestaurant.gr

There is a pool were every you look at the hotel and even though the hotel was full when we went you never struggled to find a sunbed. The pools are very salty though!

There are 3 bars in the hotel.. 'Pool Bar', 'Beach Bar', and the main bar. They all did a variety of drinks and cocktails. There was always a live singer in the main bar at night and they had greek night every wednesday. They also did shows everynight or you could get a free bus into Kardemena (or taxi approx 8eur), so you didn't struggle for anything to do.

The hotel was quite out of the way, but only a ten min drive to Kardamena. The town itself isn't much to be honest, its more for clubbing holidays but they are some nice shops, bars and resturants, its worth a little look. There's other things you can do though like day trips to turkey or a trip to Kos Town.

To sum up, we absolutly loved this hotel and are looking to go back next year.

“Fantastic- a perfect hotel!”

Porto Bello Royal

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in late June 2008, and it was pure bliss! This hotel is one of the best I have ever been to, in every sense.

The hotel itself was incredible- 12 pools, all nicely spread out so you can swim in a different one each day. This also means that the hotel never seems very busy, as everyone is so spread out. We were lucky as we got a room on the ground floor- we literally had to open our balcony door and step onto our own sunbeds and virtually private pool (shared with two other couples only!). The beach is lovely, with beautiful clear sea and sunbeds are plentiful! The pedaloes and canoes are included in the price- which makes a nice activity on the water.

The all inclusive resort is really worth the money- all restaurants are included except the French- which we avoided for this reason! The main restaurant has amazing food, which changes every day and caters for everyone- the Greek night is especially delicious! The Asian and Greek restaurants are lovely, and the Italian (our fave!) makes eating a little bit more special with cooked to order pasta and pizza. Drinks are always flowing, and the cocktails are made to perfection in every bar!

The staff at this hotel cannot do enough for you. The service in all restaurants and bars is first class, and extremely friendly, and the maid service is very good, and our maid was very pleasant.

All in all, I have absolutely no complaints about this holiday. We did not venture out of the hotel- preferring to be lazy in the sun and indulge in the all inclusive ice creams!

I would go back to this hotel again and again- we didn't want to go home! Enjoy!

We took our family here as we have recommended this hotel to everyone! We were impressed as usual, so were our family we have more friends going out in September too.
We really enjoyed the high quality of this hotel with good food and great staff whom most, which I couldn't believe remembered us - how sweet!
We had a Junior suite again and it was nice to receive the fruit basket /wine from the staff because we were on a return visit.
The weather was perfect about 100 but with a lovely breeze. We were pleased to see there was a man at breakfast cooking eggs for you that there wasn't before, he was so lovely and would do what ever you wanted even an omlette.
We visited the usual , Paradise beach, Zia and Thermal springs which can all be done in one day (car hire 50 euros from hotel). This time we went to the water park which was really good I have been to Kos 5 times and never been there! Go towards the end of hol though when you have tan otherwise you will burn! Well I couldn't recommend this hotel enough again it really is 5 star with maid service 2 times a day and they make it all so easy for you, no rushing about for sunbeds/tables etc. Love the gowns and slippers to! We will be back again next year for sure!

“Fab Porto Bello Royal”

Porto Bello Royal

Just got back from 7 days at this fab hotel.
If you want 7 quiet days of R&R, easy all incl, a beautiful beach and close to the Airport go here...

The resort town is pretty minging really typical brits abroad but staying at this hotel means you dont need to move from it everything is on site. Not good if you want to get the Greek experience as its really more generic than Greek but nevertheless I'd plan to go back again and we are really fussy about likes and dislikes esp on holiday.
If you can push the boat out for the suites do - well worth it but dont get too excited about having a 'private' pool as they are private really only to the hotel guests - saying that we are pool lovers but the beach was so close, well serviced, clean and the seas was so lovely we did not spend more than 1/2 hour at poolside.

If you have a dislike of aircraft noise think again on a handful of days every hour or so for approx 5 hours you have planes landing (hotel is directly under landing path) but REALLY its no big shakes as its not late at night or early am.

The all incl was easy and laid back any no cruddy plastic bracelet to prove you have paid, also no hassle for someone to go up and get drinks for all their party in one go either.

Perfect for couples and young families as its so very quiet but wouldn't want to take teenagers as they would want to partake in the bright resort lights (which in all fairness looks like something from one of those awful holiday rep programmes on the telly). Food really very good, clean, plentiful.

Downside: Flight path if planes really bother you and skip the 'Asian' restaurant (the sweet and sour tasted like a chicken tonight sauce!!)... I cant really think of any others

“Great Relaxing Holiday”

Porto Bello Royal

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

We stayed at the Porto Bello Royal at the end of May / start of June and had a great relaxing holiday.

We just got taxi transfers from the airport to the hotel which was 20 Euros and from touching down on the tarmac we were in our room within 40 minutes.

The hotel complex is very nice and although reasonably large with about 300 rooms, it never felt like a hige place as there are lots of pools (14 I think) so everyone is fairly well spread out. We mostly lounged by the pool by the Asian restaurant and found it nice and quiet with a fairly even mix of Brits, French, German, Italian and Dutch. If you're looking for a holiday where you'll meet loads of people and have a nice lively time by the poll then this probably isn't the place to go - but that was what we were looking for so was perfect for us.

You can hire pool/beach towels from reception for a 20 Euro deposit per towel and you can get them changed for clean ones every day which was excellent - saved us needing to take towels with us, and you're towel isn't filthy by the end of your holiday.

The animation team come round every now and again for the activities, but we didn't bother but they didn't hassle you like other resorts we've been to - they stopped asking us after a few days as they realised we weren't going to Aqua Gym in the mid-day sun.

The food was excellent - we tried 3 restaurants during our stay - the main buffet restaurant, greek taverna and Italian restaurant. The buffet restaurant is the main restaurant and had a good selection for breakfast, and plenty of different options for lunch and dinner each day. The greek taverna is only open for lunch but hasa nice outlook to the sea and has a more authentic greek selection of food than the main restaurant. The Italian was our favourite - there were a couple of chefs there who made pizzas and fresh pasta for you with the past made to order. The italian is also next to the Gelateria so you could mix and match your dessert with some ice cream from the gelateria as well.

Drinks were also very good - during the day we mainly went to the pool bar which was never that busy and didn't have to wait long. We also used the reception bar for a cocktail most nights before the sun went down and also for coffees after our evening meal - George the barman was excellent and extremently fast at his cocktail pouring! The other minor bonus was that you didn't have to wear an plastic tag on your wrist as everyone was on an all inclusive package - although you sometimes needed a card if you were at the beach bar.

Overall, we had a great relaxing time and will almost certainly be back in the future as it was a great complex and also excellent value when we consider what we'd normally spend on a holiday including all eating out and drinks.
