We stayed at the Porto Bello Royal at the end of May / start of June and had a great relaxing holiday.
We just got taxi transfers from the airport to the hotel which was 20 Euros and from touching down on the tarmac we were in our room within 40 minutes.
The hotel complex is very nice and although reasonably large with about 300 rooms, it never felt like a hige place as there are lots of pools (14 I think) so everyone is fairly well spread out. We mostly lounged by the pool by the Asian restaurant and found it nice and quiet with a fairly even mix of Brits, French, German, Italian and Dutch. If you're looking for a holiday where you'll meet loads of people and have a nice lively time by the poll then this probably isn't the place to go - but that was what we were looking for so was perfect for us.
You can hire pool/beach towels from reception for a 20 Euro deposit per towel and you can get them changed for clean ones every day which was excellent - saved us needing to take towels with us, and you're towel isn't filthy by the end of your holiday.
The animation team come round every now and again for the activities, but we didn't bother but they didn't hassle you like other resorts we've been to - they stopped asking us after a few days as they realised we weren't going to Aqua Gym in the mid-day sun.
The food was excellent - we tried 3 restaurants during our stay - the main buffet restaurant, greek taverna and Italian restaurant. The buffet restaurant is the main restaurant and had a good selection for breakfast, and plenty of different options for lunch and dinner each day. The greek taverna is only open for lunch but hasa nice outlook to the sea and has a more authentic greek selection of food than the main restaurant. The Italian was our favourite - there were a couple of chefs there who made pizzas and fresh pasta for you with the past made to order. The italian is also next to the Gelateria so you could mix and match your dessert with some ice cream from the gelateria as well.
Drinks were also very good - during the day we mainly went to the pool bar which was never that busy and didn't have to wait long. We also used the reception bar for a cocktail most nights before the sun went down and also for coffees after our evening meal - George the barman was excellent and extremently fast at his cocktail pouring! The other minor bonus was that you didn't have to wear an plastic tag on your wrist as everyone was on an all inclusive package - although you sometimes needed a card if you were at the beach bar.
Overall, we had a great relaxing time and will almost certainly be back in the future as it was a great complex and also excellent value when we consider what we'd normally spend on a holiday including all eating out and drinks.
