“A bargain, with your own pool and mini bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We stayed for 1 week mid June 2013. Each block of around 18 rooms share a pool, then there are 2 further pools for every one to share. Its was a great week! All inclusive included the buffet dining room as well as a Greek restaurant and Italian -which you need to book the day before. Service and food in all restauarants was very good and because we booked through icelolly.com it was a bargain too!

Room Tip: One without an up hill walk, but the pool more than made up for it ;-)

I went away with 3 ladies from 16th-23rd June 2013. We didn't want a party hotel just a hotel where we had the option to go into the nightlife by taxi if we wanted to. It was perfect 10 euros there and 10 euros back for a taxi into where all the main bars and restaurants are.

It is a huge complex with a choice of many different kinds of rooms, is it very clean and the maids are lovely. Reception staff spot on, friendly and couldn't do enough for you. There are so many different swimming pools you can choose from, small and big ones, we ended up having our own private pool for the last 4 days which was lovely. I would highly recommend booking the sea view rooms as they are simply stunning views.
The beach is shingle but don't let that put you off just make sure you take a good pair of jellies as the water is clear and peaceful. (there is also a beach bar all inclusive there).
The food in the hotel was horrible at breakfast but fine for lunch and dinner the restaurant staff were hit and miss it depends who you get - in the morning it's always difficult to get a cup of tea/coffee. I highly recommend booking the Italian restaurant for lunch at some point in the week as its so nicely served and tastes lovely.
Although I go all inclusive I like t have a change 1 or 2 nights and we found the most amazing restaurant called Pelagos which is a 10 euro taxi ride to kardema by the port - Taxi driver usually knows if you just say the name of the restaurant as it has an amazing reputation there. The chef comes out and talks to you and makes changes to dishes and goes out of his way to please you, and prices are so little for the amount you get and the service you get.

There is no entertainment in the evenings for adults - but this is ok if you are easily amused by the kids disco and can entertain yourselves like we did.

Highly recommend to do some water sports - the jet ski is brilliant and if your English the man always gives you a discount if you push for one because apparently when all the English start doing the water sports all the Russians do to - we thought it was a joke but then when we were getting off the jet ski there was a que of about 15 Russians wanting to do it, he also gave us a discount of the DVD you can buy of your jet ski trips which is amazing quality.

The only down side of our holiday was a lot of the male staff in the bar - they are sleazy and don't take no for an answer even when you tell them you are married. Then when they don't get anywhere they are extremely rude to you and ruin your time in the bar.

Room Tip: Ask for room 311 or 332

Stayed at Summer Palace from 8 - 22 June 2013, our second holiday there.
The location of the hotel is wonderful and the facilities excellent.
However, the fantastic service from all staff at the hotel really does make your holiday special.
All the staff want to ensure that your stay at the hotel is the best possible and wherever you are in the hotel, the staff will give you a smile and will endeavour to provide great service - in all areas it is service 'with a smile'.
The cleanliness of the hotel is exemplary , room service is provided daily, the external areas and pools are immaculate, and the gardens well cared for.
Food served in the main restaurant is plentiful and varied and even at times of highest demand, the service provided by staff is first class.Thomas, the restaurant manager, and his team, provide a great service. The Italian and Greek retaurants provide an opportunity for a different dining environment and menu, and again the staff in both these areas go out of their way to provide you with a wonderful dining experience. The beach bar, Pool bar and Nautilus bar are all conveniently placed, open most of the day and are manned by staff who display the same positive qualities of customer service.
There are some nine pools on site - so there is plenty of bathing options.
In summary, a fantastic memorable holiday made extra special by fantastic staff. We will certainly return again!

Room Tip: Most rooms have a sea view. If you have children, the rooms facing the main building with pools nea...

We two oldies stayed at the Mitsis Summer Palace for two hot weeks in June. The hotel is spotless, the staff so friendly and the AI regime suited us. We had a large well-fitted room with terrific sea view. Cleaned well daily and AI fridge bar replenished every other day. We really enjoyed the outdoor dining and the great views, the indoor and outdoor pools (always a bed), and the shingle beach. Cannot comment on the entertainment as we bring our own, but the kids seemed to be well cared for. I would not recommend this hotel for the disabled, as it is built into the side of a hill. There are lots of steps, and most ramps are very long and steep, even those to any lift. The sister hotel, the Norida is next door and more on the flat. The site is shared with the Norida, the top of the range Blue Domes and the Mitsis Family Village. Extras : Supermarket, own Greek and Italian restaurants, same-day UK newspapers, sports bar, close to the airport 25eu and local buses to town. Notes: No library shelf, so bring a kindle or your own books. The Summer Palace is a no-nonsense family hotel giving good value for money.

We stayed here in the second week of May this year. The hotel was okay - very clean - but we were disappointed on a number of counts. The food was pretty bland - pretty much the same thing every day and not that brilliant - but perhaps we have been spoiled in the past at other hotels. It was a struggle to get a hot cup of tea or coffee at breakfast - indeed it was a struggle to get a cup or a teaspoon at all. We were there for seven days and had to ask each morning for a teaspoon for the boiled eggs. We overheard waiting staff complain that they didn't have enough crockery. Possibly a knock on effect of the struggling Greek economy. There was no entertainment at all in the evenings and nothing within easy reach, so not many options other than staying on the hotel site. The pool was a lot smaller than we had envisaged and even though we were out of season, it wasn't easy to find four sunbeds together. Highlight was definitely the Greek Taverna on the beach. Fine if you can make your own entertainment, but if you are looking for even a basic level of activity, you will be disappointed.

We were at Summer Palace from 8-18 June 2013.The highlight of our stay was the excellent service from the staff. They were alert for our every needs, special mention for Thomas and Dimitrie, the 2 manager in the restaurant were extremely kind and helpful to us during the stay.
Toni at the grill was a master chef, he cooked meat and fish just before our eyes and always took great care to produce only the best for his guests.
In the restaurant, Apostolis, Giannis, Babis, Laura, an excellent bunch, they were attentive for all our needs.
All in all, a nice vacation in a lovly hotel.

We were at Summer Palace from 8-18 June 2013. The highlight of our stay was the excellent service from the staff. In the restaurant, Apostolis, Giannis and Babis we the pick of an excellent bunch. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They were attentive and catered for our every need. Tony at the grill was a Master chef. He cooked meat and fish before our very eyes, and always took great care to produce only the best for his guests.
At the Italian restaurant, Panagiotis, Theoharris and Vladimir worked tirelessly to produce and serve excellent food in a highly efficient manner.
At reception, we were served by an array of staff who made it very clear that they wanted our stay to be perfect. Angela, Daria, Martha, Elena are worthy of special mention, but there were others, too, who adopted the same very hi standard of customer service.
These staff worked so very hard, that it was remarkable to see.
The majority of the guests appeared to be Russian and Ukrainian. Sad to say, there appeared to be a culture of ingratitude and superiority toward the staff from many of these people. We routinely saw people being rude and patronising toward staff, which made us very uncomfortable. We were told that there has been a recent promotion of the Summer Palace via Russian/Ukrainian travel agencies. We believe that this large population of Russian/Ukrainian guests will put off guests from elsewhere, especially UK citizens. Some cultures simply clash, and these do!
The hotel is spotlessly clean. Our room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels and an amply stocked minibar.
The free drinks were not branded, but were fine. Christos and Pavlos were the pick of a dine team at the bar, ensuring that our every need was met. Snacks available all day were OK. It would have been better to have fresh fruit and more sugar-free drinks available.
Swimming facilities were good, with about seven pools available. It should be noted that none of the pools had shallow ends big enough for the less confident bathers (unless prepared to go in the small part of the biggest pool which was cordoned off for children). Some of the pools were almost 3metres deep, whilst the shallow ends were usually around 1.3 metres at their shallowest.
The beach is largely shale, and drops away sharply into deep water after only a couple of metres. The parasols and loungers were free to use.
All in all, a lovely holiday, in a nice hotel. Not a 5 star hotel by British standards, and the other hotels in the complex appeared to be newer, and better appointed. This was a good value for money holiday for us.
