“Must Go”

This natural park is awesome.
There are a lot of activities, from diving into a cave to swim with dolphins.
It's an all incluse park, with good restaurants and bars.

“The biggest aquarium in the world!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

This is a Lovely place! Pricey though. The snorkeling activities are great and the diving off cliffs part is awesome. Remember to bring your camera if you don't you will regret it! The food is all inclusive which is good because it doesn't add to the cost of the whole thing. There is a wide range of nature too.

Great place and well worth my money!

“great time and worth the money!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We visited Xel-Ha while staying in Cozumel. It was a long day for us having to leave our hotel at 6:30am to catch the ferry to Playa del Carmen, then bus to Xel-Ha. We were there till 5:45pm and thought we would find the day really long. We were exhausted at the end but did not run out of things to do there. We were there with our 9 yr old twins and took part in the snorkeling (until the kids saw barracuda which seem to be very common and despite our reassurances did not want to snorkel much more!). We did see a nice variety of colourful fish. We rode down the lazy river on the inner tubes which we all loved...very cool setting in the mangroves. We all did the zip line many many times and the rope walking which was fun! We did not do the cliff jumping. We played at the kids area for a while and walked the floating bridge to the other side where we looked at the cenotes and walked through the grottos - kids not brave enough to swim into the cave or the grottos but they still enjoyed seeing them - they are nature nuts and loved the jungle setting, seeing ancient fossils in the grottos and wildlife such as many families of coati's which were super cute. It is a very expensive day and would have liked to do the manatee encounter but it was just too much extra - it is too bad that the dolphin/stingray/manatee encounters are so much more money - my only complaint really. Although unlike Dolphinaris (which we did last year) you can at least stop and watch these creatures for as long as you like and take as many photos of them as you want. We ate all three of our meals there and did not have any issue with the food at all. It is a lot of walking however and our feet were killing us. Everything is very organized however with the lockers and looking after your items while you ride the river - you get a numbered bag with a lock on it to put your shoes in and any valuables and you pick it up after you are done the river and want your items back. It is very very crowded however but we didn't really have to wait much for anything. Our kids did pose with the parrots/macaws/lizards and there was NO pressure to buy the photos. We did end up buying several but they had turned out so amazing we couldn't resist - $13 per 8x10 photo I thought was reasonable - but then we had to pay $30 per photo at Dolphinaris so we thought $13 was a good deal for such a large photo. We enjoyed the shops very much and the kids purchased a few stuffed animal souvenirs that were not too badly priced. We did not take part in any of the more daring extra activities that they offer such as Sea-trek or Snuba etc....We would go back again for sure. The only bad thing is the scarey views of some very very tiny bikinis and speedos! Come on people! Cover up a little!

“Not so adventurous”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

Xel-ha is a beautiful setting, but lack adventure for teenagers. So, if you look for adrenaline, you can skip this one. My boys decided to go on an optional activity, to dive with the umbilical and play with the stingrays. The bay is big for snorkeling, but not much corals or colorful fishes, though you get to see lots of fish. There is a real easy down river on tubes and a cliff for the kids to jump from. Also some short ziplines ending in the water. 120 km from Cancun, which we drove.

“Great place to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We had a truly wonderful day at xel ha although the food was not particularly great, although plentiful, and they should be ashamed of themselves for charging $13 per photo at the end.

Lower the price of these souvenirs and we will buy them, the extortion just leaves a bad taste in my mouth for what was a great day out. After all it is not cheap to get in to this park in the first place.
