“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

We had a group of twelve people stay in four apartments for seven days at Sanctuary Lake, Tony and Miles are fantastic hosts and very accomodating. A short stroll to the surf clubs and Tugan for all your food needs, fantastic fish shop and bakeries/fruit and veg. Excellent set up for pool/spa/ barbarque peaceful and private. We will be travelling back to stay again for a third visit. Thanks.

Room Tip: Great set up for friends and family Public transport out the front if you fly in!

There are some positives and negatives about this place. The good points first. Great location in Currumbin with easy walks to beach, shops, restaurants and cafes. Onsite secure parking and managers on site. We stayed in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment at the rear of the premises with the bird sanctuary at the back windows. The apartment was clean and well set out. Be aware that the location is directly under the flight path to the airport and the noise at times to the point that it drowned out conversation & tv.
The thing we were disappointed about was that the apartment lacked some basic essentials. There was no hairdryer. No tissues. Only ONE roll of toilet paper, with no spare! You could get extra for a $1.00 per roll. You also have to empty your own rubbish bins at the end of your stay or be charged an extra $50.
My arguement to the manager was that when you are paying over $200 a night I would expect these things as standard. Even a Budget Motel gives you extra toilet paper! The mangers attitude then became curt and defensive and said they could not supply hairdryers in the rooms as they get stolen. Well isnt that why have have my Visa number?
I wont bore you with the rest of the conversation - the bottom line is we wont be back. There are lots of places to stay in Currumbin with good locations. And hopefully they supply toilet paper!!!

We where not sure if we could keep our booking due to problems, Miles and Tony were very helpful when it was a yes we can ! Had a bad expereince with one of the aqua ducks, they took on board what had happened to us. Rooms clean, pool area great the kids loved it as did I as I have a bad knee and it was so much easier to just walk out of . Re the planes flying over, we made a game of it, guess which plan is about to fly over.

Great place to stay. Loved the fact that the manager was onsite and always around. Just need to remind parents to be more careful with the hygeine of nappies and swimmers on little ones. Over christmas sometimes the pool was a little yuk. Though overall fantastic, thanks

Room Tip: rooms on top floor if you like going up and down stairs all the time, though are more private, or go...

We stayed at Sanctuary Lake Apartments as we had friends up from Canberra and they were staying in the area. The owners were extremely pleasant and accommodating. Our unit was extremely clean and well appointed. The only down size (and it's not a negative) was the aircraft noise at times, however our kids just loved hearing the planes go in and out. One big plus is the amazing swimming pool area. That is a beautiful lagoon pool and the gardens are extremely well kept.

It was right opposite the beach and the local surf club is amazing!! It was also around the corner from the Bird Sanctuary which the kids greatly enjoyed.

Thanks Miles and Tony for a fabulous weekend!

Fantastic large pool. Great location. Our only gripe was contacting the caretakers as we were not provided with enough beds. We sent text messages, emails and called many time on The Saturday as the office closes after lunch. Got no reply and had one person sleep on the couch!!!

With young children it was a delight to have such a great flat with ample inside and outdoor space to chill in the evenings- and to have such easy access pool space was a delight. Having a 4 and a 2 1/2 year old, we found all the pool areas to be great... The wading pool and the jaccuzzi were both fab but the main pool was the winner for both children due to the different depths and ease of just wading in, believing no adults were supervising ;)

If you are looking for a party it is not the place, but if you love beautiful uncrowded beaches, little local shops and fancy chilling with a BBQ, some great wine with children safely tucked in bed its a great place to be.

But very importantly, the super friendly and excellent care of the manager Tony made the stay that little bit more special- and we would come again!
