“Beware Council Car Park Signage!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

Went to our first AFL game here on the coast . Was a great day .. Until we got back to our car which was parked on Ross Street ..outside Royal Pines ... Copped a $44 dollar parking ticket ... Along with 30 approximately others who were duped by let's say " misleading. " and "obscure" signage. ... Reads " red circle through the S sign .. Then underneath says " METRICON STADIUM EVENT DAYS ONLY " with an arrow pointing to the area to park.
Sour taste to the day .. Beware locals !

“Fantastic Metricon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

My husband and I are former Tasmanians and avid AFL supporters. We joined the Gold Coast Suns as inaugural members in 2010 and awaited the much anticipated new Metricon stadium to be completed. Have hardly missed a game since. The stadium has a wonderful family atmosphere with good access (free buses from trains and other areas) and plenty of clean facilities, food outlets and entertainment for kids.
The stadium itself is well designed with good close viewing, which all plays an important part for the enjoyment of the game. Parking is not well catered for ( nearby Emerald Lakes Golf club charge $20) and soon fills, as do any free areas around the park. My only criticism is the buses from Boowaggen road do not flow smoothly and people end up waiting ages for buses for them to 'dribble in'. Also the car park soon fills and becomes a muddy quagmire in the wet, and with only one entrance and exit is a no no for us (only tried it twice). There are pick up and drop off points in Birmingham road but is about 500 metres from the stadium, and disabled parking is on a first come first served basis closer to the stadium.
to sum up, the stadium itself is fantastic and we are looking forward to new stands being added at the northern end in time for the Commonwealth games.

“5* for the Stadium and 1* star for access”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Went to the Suns v Carlton match on 27 July. We live in Brisbane and drove down for some shopping first and parked at Helensvale station to catch the train to Nerang. Match started at 1.45pm and caught the 1.00pm train. As it was only one stop thought that was plenty of time!

Had to wait nearly 30 minutes in line for a shuttle bus to the ground. Seems they had not enough shuttle buses and lack of communication from those organizing. Would have been quicker to walk to the ground if they had bothered to tell us how long the wait would be.

Enjoyed the game and the stadium. Sat in row x section k and even though near the back had a great view. Good atmosphere at the stadium.

Trip back to Nerang station was even worse. Waited about 20 minutes in line for a bus and then a traffic jam to the station. That trip took over 20 minutes. Again would have been better of walking but from what I could see the footpaths on the station side are non existent.

Good viewing seats new stadium welcoming spacious. Get a seat in aisle 211-210 which is central viewing and row P back which puts you undercover. These seats are on the east side of the ground

“Good day at the footy but......”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

a few problems...

Not enough of the cheapest seating, only 13,000 at ground plenty of room , but all of it in the most expensive sections.

Getting to the ground is a nightmare by bus, if they provided car parking it would help. buses too full, stadium web site too hard to find out where buses go from.

roof too small to give cover from sun or rain.
