“So disappointing...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013 via mobile

We visited this restaurant judging by the good reviews on tripadvisor and honestly cannot understand what the fuss is about. The decor is bland and uninviting, we were asked to move during our meal as there apparently wasn't enough room around the table, which we couldn't understand. The food isn't at all cheap, which is fine if it is good cuisine but our food came out...the stir fries were extremely watery and tasteless, the prawns were tiny, the fried rice wasn't at all authentic. The Chinese bread was nice but that certainly isn't enough to make us go back. I'm not sure if they didn't serve us authentic food because we were caucasian but it was terrible.

“Great authentic Shandong cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

I've come to this restaurant for the last few years. The food is authentic and good, staff are friendly, menu is well priced and the venue is comfortable. The downside is the restaurant has a contrasting theme which is not Chinese but it still works for me. Even taking that into consideration I'll still recommend it.

“Very satisfactory”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

In illustration of the benefit of taking notice of other Tripadvisor contributors, we sought out Christine, the proprietor, and let her choose for us from the Chinese menu. The result was excellent and we noticed that, in a fairly full house, we were the only westerners.
The décor is somewhat bizarre – walls that aren't covered by gaudy Italian murals of lake scenes are covered with framed Italian antique prints. Perhaps a hint that they worry more about the food than the décor.
Fukang is a town in the remote west of China, and the name of the most ancient of all the Chinese martial arts. What this may mean in relation to the name of the restaurant is obscure – if I understood her correctly, Christine said the style of food is from somewhere near Beijing. Anyway, it can be very hot and spicy if you want it to be, which is one of the main characteristics of Szechuan (Sichuan) cuisine from the south-west.
We thought it was pretty good.
