“Best Chinese on the Gold Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2012

Chinese relatives recommended this restaurant as being the best on the coast, they were definitely right. Very consistent, high quality (authentic) Chinese food. The English menu has completely different food than the one written in Chinese, so make sure you venture in to the "real" menu to discover some amazing dishes.

Everything has always been fresh and perfectly seasoned. The serving staff and fast and friendly. Talk to the lady running the place if you need help choosing from the Chinese menu.

“Genuine Chinese Cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2012

My partner and I have now taken to visiting this restaurant weekly. We used to choose different restaurants each week but cannot go past this.

The food is truly excellent. Most importantly is is genuine Shandong cuisine. Not a hint of European culture in it. The fact that it is mainly frequented by Asian customers is testament to it. The servings are extremely generous and well presented.

The host Christine is a delight and always willing to make suggestions.

Very happy clients.

“Fu Kang GC Restaurant Gold Coast, Authentic Chinese Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2011

Have keen to Fu Kung quite a number of times. The food here is very good, prices not expensive, like other review said decor is a little strange but who cares, its the food i am interested in.
They have Chinese and Western menus, the problems is its the Chinese food is what you really want to try not the boring Western Chinese dishes like lemon chicken, beef and black bean ect, this is old style western Chinese food.
I would recommend asking the lady owner to explain some of the authentic Chinese dishes and try some. I can suggest spicy lamb dish, it is only available in Chinese menu that's why you need to ask, i also think they need to improve there menu and add English description under the Chinese menu.

After you sit down. just look at the authentic Chinese style dishes that people are eating, they always look picture perfect like there right out of a magazine. It helps if you have Chinese speaking person with you to explain some of the dishes, or just asks the lady owner to explain them to you, the other staff are a little young to explain properly.

“Great quality Chinese food - but caters to all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2010

This restaurant is on the main Gold Coast Highway, but a little way out on the north side of town. It's slightly set back from the road with a little cover, so there's no noise issue. It's tucked in straight after another Chinese restaurant, David Fung's Chinese restaurant. I actually was confused and ducked in this restaurant first, but then saw its neighbour and moved on.

The first signs inside this restaurant were very positive, with a large Chinese clientele. As we found out though, they catered to all-comers readily with the menu written well in both Chinese and English (mostly - there was a separate insert that was Chinese only, but there were enough choices elsewhere it didn't matter).

The decor was out of place though; as I found out later this was a completely different restaurant until recently, so apparently they left the same pictures on the wall as before. While in good condition, there's no relevance to Chinese cuisine or anything else in the current restaurant!

Of the food itself, portion sizes are good, as was the taste. Service was readily available when needed but not intrusive, and always happy to oblige. All of us there came out very happy with the choice and experience, including choice and quality served.

Overall, it's a good, semi-formal place to have a meal with family or friends. Tables are covered with white linen and furnishings are nice, but it's not lavish, being a way from downtown - in the good, suburban restaurant category. There's a fair range of tables so they can cater for different size groups
