“Nice quite location, with a sense of something missing.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2011

After buying two day passes to Dreamworld for my family I wanted a place close by to crash at the end of a busy first day. On the drive out to Hotel, there are plenty of shops and food outlets as well as some stunning homes. It's not until you reach the last major roundabout that you take to head out to the hotel you get the feeling that you may have taken a wrong turn with undeveloped property that looks like it's been there for a while. On arrival the staff were friendly and the place looks nice at first glance. The undercover carpark was good, but was in need of a clean of leaf litter. Entering the room it smelt fresh and the A/C was already on. Bathroom was well set out and the linen was fresh as well my sons linen on the already set up foldout. The pool looked inviting but not as inviting as the spa in our room. The only view is of the boats in the marina with a large grassy mound cutting off any view beyond that. At night the bar was open but was empty and the place was whisper quite. Breakfast was simple but nice, bacon, sausage, hash browns with only an egg selection of scrambled but plenty of breads, cereal and juices. The place is nice, but you get the feeling that it's struggling. It's location is perfect if you want to go to Dreamworld or Movieworld for that matter, but not so good for Surfers Paradise. Looking around there where old rusted tables sitting on the walkway on the marina that where broken and miss match tables and chairs that look to be very old at breakfast. Lunch and dinner is not longer available and neither is room service. Good weekend getaway if your off to the fun parks, quite location but like I said, seems like somethings missing.

If only I'd known that the bar shut at 7pm on Christmas Eve!
If only I'd known that the bar shut one hour after Christmas Dinner had finished
I wouldn't have booked!
Having said that the staff were first class, friendly and very efficient..............if only the weather had been as accomodating, it's certainly one Christmas we won't forget in a hurry!

Stayed here as we had a wedding at a nearby resort. Booked hastily without doing the standard Tripadvisor check, what a mistake.
Arrive to find the onsite technician fixing the airconditioner. No problem it'll be working by the time you get back from the wedding.
Then thought we should set up our 3 month old's pre-ordered cot... No linen and the cot thrown in the corner of the room. The room was a little untidy but not the worst we'd stayed in.
Got back from the wedding early to get some precious sleep. Air-conditioner not really working but we were assured it just needed to warm-up... Woke an hour later in a lather of sweat, air-conditioner not working at all. Advised reception, told to use the remote to adjust and take this small fan. We reply there is no remote and the fan doesn't work.
Eventually offered a change in room (at 2 in the morning). New room was a little tidier and had a loud but functioning air-conditioner. Got a few hours sleep.
Up for the buffet breakfast - everything cold and soggy, yuck.
Definitely a Fawlty Towers type experience.

We booked through lastminute.com - great site - but this hotel has the most deceiving website - believe me, we've stayed in a lot of places over the years and this has to be the most disappointing of all.
They are supposedly 'four star' in ratings - honestly, change it to two... the beds are as hard as a rock - and looking at the matresses, they are filthy - their mattress protectors were single sized (and ripped!) on queen beds - no quilts, only very dusty and scratchy blankets (one for each bed) in the cupboard. You walk into the room and it looks like it hasn't been made up because there are only sheets on the bed. Housekeeping only lightly sweeps over the room - sinks, floors and toilets are not cleaned on a daily basis. I had to have them come up to clean the room when we first arrived. When we complained about the room initially, we were told by the 'friendly" staff (and I say that loosely) that if we didn't like it, try and get our $$ back from lastminute.com and go elsewhere. There wasn't even a phone in the room - they told us that telstra was having problems with the lines. Great. Honestly, unless you don't mind sleeping on rocks, washing with other people's hair around - avoid avoid AVOID the Marina Quays International - it's honestly not worth the drive - very very VERY disappointing - we WON'T be back!!!!

We stayed here for 2 days, 1st the room had a broken couch that could not be folded back. Were offered a room with a rd view and barking dogs. (we paid for a pool//marina view). We stayed in room, things got worse the first morning, rain was pouring through the ceiling, wet carpet and no one to fix the ceiling. TAdvised another room was available but needed cleaning, it would be approx 3hr wait, when asked why, told other empty rooms had priority as people were coming in at 12.00, bad luck for us who were already their and had to spend hrs in the room with rain coming through. Then we decide to eat their what a joke, can not eat in the dining room as that is set for breakfast, you have to eat in the bar, which had 2 coffee tables, or outside under the eaves in the rain with a heater, well only one heater for the whole area, which was already taken. What was even worse another family were there with children and they had to eat in the bar area, not a place for children. A staff memember then told us they have lots of complaints but the managers do not care. So we then decide to have room service, which was a bit difficult as the room had no phone (to bad if there was an emergency), so back to reception area, they just shrugged their shoulders and we were told to go and order in the bar. The gym well that was like a sardine can with no airconditioning.
We have just returned from a trip overseas, and customer service was far superior then what we received in our own home state.
I would not recommend this place to anyone, they could not give you even a smile on checking out. So do not stay their go elsewhere.

Stayed here for four nights in late August. The room was spacious and comfortable with a nice outlook over the pool and marina. Staff very accomodating from the front desk to the Marlin Bar. Food served at the bar was reasonably priced and really tasty. Sitting outside (in the middle of winter) while having lunch and a drink overlooking the marina was simply gorgeous. The big downfall of this hotel is its location with it being practically in the middle of nowhere. The closest 7Eleven was a 20 minute walk away without footpaths. If you have a car and are wanting a quiet get away then this place is great.

Finding used towels in the not-so-clean bathroom wasn't a great start. If the reception staff had sent Housekeeping to our room to finish cleaning then all would have been forgiven, but they simply handed us two clean towels. They weren't very impressed when we came back down, delivered the wet ones to the reception desk and asked for a bathmat.
This hotel seems more interested in international tour groups than individuals. There was a feedback card in the room but no address - you had to hand it to reception. Duh, that was who we wanted to complain about.
Could be a nice place to stay, a bit out of the way, if they really wanted you to stay there.
