This was a special occasion so expectations were high, as we had eaten here before. We shared bread and dips which were excellent. I and one of my guests opted for the reef and beef which were very good. My other guest opted for curried prawns which looked a bit sad and was super hot. The rather odd feature was that the reef and beef was served on a bed of mashed potato with fried chips to accompany. The chips were overcooked with hard edges and no softness left in the centre.
We had a bottle of Cloudy Bay chardonnay which was a reliable choice and was presented well.
We had intended to order a desert but the restaurant had become very busy and our waiter was stretched, so the moment passed.
I asked for the bill and as the waiter headed towards me I saw him checking it. He then went back to the POS and made some adjustments, reprinted it and brought it over.
I checked it and saw that it had 3 entrees and 6 mains listed and it was over by $100.
The waiter explained that there had been an error earlier and they had lost a bill for another table, so it had ended up on ours!
It took two attempts to get it right, so the whole experience was very disappointing and very unnecessary. Needless to say it spoiled what had been a great celebratory meal, so we will not be going back.
