Well I was a little sceptical about staying here with my family when I read some of the reviews here. Poor service this, poor service that. Might I say, the service was excellent whilst staying here with my group of 11 between June 22nd and 30th. We arrived from Melbourne at about 11:30 and to my surprise our rooms were ready. We walked through the glorious, newly renovated lobby to our room located adjacent to "Sport Mirage" and opened the door into our home for the week. For about 10 seconds my mouth was wide open absolutely shocked at how stylish and sleek our newly renovated rooms were. The connecting rooms slept 8 people (2 per bed) comfortably and we found that the corner room was just a bit larger. As we stayed on the ground floor the outer facing doors faced out onto perfectly manicured lawns. A great place to mess around with the family. The free buffet breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious, it catered for any type of appetite. There was some tiling and painting works being done around the large restaurant but that was not a hassle as there was a clear path to walk on the whole time.

We did buy pay per view movies two of the nights and they were ridiculously over priced. $16.95 for one, new release film? But that was one of the only things that was bad about the trip and if the right price comes around, I'm sure myself and my ten other travelling companions will be sure to step foot through that spectacular lobby once again.

Thanks Sheraton Mirage for a fantastic family holiday.

Room Tip: Whilst the garden wing located adjacent to Sports Mirage was quite a walk from the lobby. It was pea...

Im a lifetime gold member at SPG and have over 1000 stays and I have to say the housekeeping staff at this hotel was five star all the way. Had it not been for their service I would be writing a different review. Overall the staff at this hotel is excellent and well trained to make people happy. I stayed 6 nights with my family and were from North America (Canada) and it was not uncommon to see management in the lobby keeping an eye on everything even opening car doors for returning guests. The only staff I thought needed more training was the bell staff, they were not useful and not personal. My issues with the hotel are that I've never stayed at a resort property without a hot tub by the main pool and found this very odd. I also booked into a 2 bedroom villa suite to discover on arrival that it was not really part of the hotel and were privately owned. No sweet sleeper beds and no new furniture. With that said upon raising the issue with the hotel staff they did move us over to the hotel, furnished us with a big suite and made sure we were happy. The location is right on the beach which would be great during the summer but if you come in the winter you are far from the main shopping areas of town so if you don't have a car it will be a $30 cab ride there and back. We walked it in 40 minutes. Overall the hotel staff made the difference between this being an OK hotel and a good one but if you are from North America don't expect this to be a resort like property you find in Hawaii.

Room Tip: Don't take a room near the main road very noisy, ask for a pool or ocean side room. I think most...

Dear Lew

Thank you for choosing Sheraton Mirage for your recent family visit to the Gold Coast, and for the time you have taken to post in detail on your experience. Your insights as a Lifetime Gold Starwood Preferred Guest member are truly valued and we are delighted that overall your stay was an enjoyable one. And our Housekeeping associates in particular were very grateful for your commendation.

It was disappointing to read your comments on our bell staff though, and I apologise for this lapse from a department which usually receives positive feedback. Our Front Office Manager has shared your post with her bell team so they will understand their service from your perspective, and work together to ensure your experience is not repeated.

Many thanks again for your incredible support of Starwood, and for coming to stay with us here at Sheraton Mirage.

Warmly
Mark

I stayed as part of a conference last week at the Sheraton Mirage. To be honest, i had heard it was a little tired and wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised!
Good - My room was excellent and comfortable with a nice bathroom. Nothing extra special but good nonetheless. The resort amenities and the common areas were very good and obviously benefitted from the money spent, a great environment. The breakfast in the terrace was very good.
Bad - This resort thinks its in an airport for food pricing. $6 for a coffee. $37.50 for a very average room service burger. Come on. The food and drinks prices aren't reasonable and make you want to cross the road to get either.. I unfortunately left my keys in my room and they gouged me a handling fee to return them. Given id just spent 5 nights there i thought that very rich.
Anyway, nice environment but careful of the room charges.

Dear Senior TA Contributor

It was good to have you with us for your conference…..and great to read your review! Thanks so much for taking the time to post on your stay as we love to hear about guests liking their room and the resort refurbishment. We also note and appreciate your views on food and beverage pricing, and charging for the return of personal items left behind. Regarding lost property, with over 3000 items left at the resort annually, and return postage and courier costs running into the thousands of dollars, it’s just not possible to absorb these charges. We hope on reflection you will understand our position.

Many thanks again for your gift of feedback.

Warm regards
Mark

Although the building is a little dated we had a lovely long weekend stay. The pool and pool bar are both spectacular albeit VERY busy and we were impressed by the fact that pool towels and other services were provided to the guests poolside. The location is also near perfect being just on the beach. The hotel is situated across the road (accessible by a foot bridge) from a fantastic but a little expensive mini mall with a few sweet ladies boutiques and restaurants. We also loved the way the moat met the building aka 1980's lux Duran Duran video sort of way.

Our room was nice but in preference I would ask for a room that is poolside so you don't hear the partygoers leaving the nightclub and the road noise at the front of the hotel. We almost called reception at one point to ask them to move the revellers on at 3am, as they were so loud, but in the end we resisted causing a stir. Each room was well equipped, the beds were small (so if you can afford it ask for a decent sized bed) they are a little dark but nicely kitted out. Really we wanted for nothing staying here.
A big plus is the location of the hotel, as its within walking distance of Sea World, and for us this was the main reason for going to the Gold Coast in the first place.

The food in the restaurant was lovely even the buffet had a good spread, breaky was great too, so no complaints...

Would we go back? Definitely!

Room Tip: Back of the Hotel near the pool area would be a better choice than near the road.

Dear Trip Advisor Contributor

Thank you for choosing Sheraton Mirage for your Long Weekend break from Melbourne, and for the time you have taken to write a review and post those wonderful photos (which we all enjoyed – both of the hotel and the spectacular shots of the dolphins at Sea World).

Whilst delighted your stay overall was an enjoyable one, our team joins me in apologising for you being disturbed in the early hours of the morning from late night revellers on Sea World Drive. Please reach out to me next time you a planning a trip to the Coast so we can pre allocate your accommodation in a quieter section of the resort.

With warm appreciation for your support and your review.

myself and a friend from work stayed there for a mid week break and it was most enjoyable. We had drinks at the bar and found the service was a little slow but once we got our drinks they were great. We had to ask for peanuts mind you!

We went out for dinner so cant comment on that.

The room itself was wonderful, everything was what you would imagine for a 5 star resort. The bed was very comfortable.

Buffet breakfast was more than you could imagine delicious! everything and anything you could imagine for breakfast.

Will definately be back!

Dear Senior TA Contributor

It was good to have you and your friend staying with us earlier this month….and thank you for your post! Our Chefs and our Terraces team particularly liked your comment regarding breakfast! This is a very popular feature of our resort and we’re glad you enjoyed it too.

Thank you for choosing Sheraton Mirage on this occasion. We hope to see you back here before too long.

We only stayed for one night - would have liked to have stayed for more! Check-in not until 3pm - but we arrived at 2pm and were allowed into our room within minutes of check-in. Front desk service excellent. Pool cafe service also very good with very obliging friendly staff. Pool area great & access to beach very easy. Room appeared to be recently refurbished, very comfortable king bed, great bathroom - all very clean. Check-out at 12md also a bonus. Our only disappointment was the buffet breakfast which for $39/person was not up to 5 star standard....although a wide selection, the quality of some items was not great, the fruit looked old & some was literally brown - ie. grapes and canned champignons instead of fresh mushrooms etc, on the plus side they do include free coffee - flat white etc and even made a babyccino for our daughter. Staff at breakfast very helpful.

Dear Senior Reviewer

Our team was delighted to know you enjoyed your overnight stay and our warm and friendly service. Thank you for taking the time to post on your visit.

We were all disappointed though to read the comments on your buffet breakfast. Our sincere apologies. Be assured this is not our usual standard which is to feature the highest possible food quality and presentation and we are sorry this was not evident with your breakfast on this occasion.

Looking forward to welcoming you and your family back for a longer stay next time.

Warmly
