“For other people”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

When I'm on holidays I want to relax and this place lacked that quintessential Australian relaxed resort vibe. Yes, I know the brand is Italian. Many of the people staying here seemed very concerned with how glamorous they were looking; and that's fine, but it's not the scene I want when I am on holidays in Australia (Rome maybe!). Next time I would stay across the road - we walked through the Sheraton and the pools were more expansive and they span out to meet the boardwalk and beach, giving the Sheraton a much more open feel than the Palazzo. So, for the the Palazzo, we enjoyed our stay here helped by a good deal from Wotif, but would not return.

Dear AndyH1000,

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor.
Although most of your ratings are good it is disappointing that you felt the private lagoon area nestled just off the Broadwater was not as expansive and open as that of what you had hoped for. It is very rare that we receive this type of feedback in relation to the lagoon area as this is very popular with our guests, but we thank you very much for providing your insight and it’s a shame it wasn’t as you would have expected. We do however have the private cabanas that you can book which will give you a more private and relaxed feel around the lagoon area.

We very much hope to welcome you back in the near future.

Warm regards

“Stay for a drink, not for a night - avoid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Stayed here for a week with my family - Very ordinary all around and not worth the money - Started at check-in - We arrived around 4pm (with baby) haven given plenty of warning - Aside from the lobby being a bus station with all the gawkers and afternoon tea crowd, there was just one person on the desk to check-in - Worse, despite the time, the room still wasn't ready - So we had to wait in the lobby and then had trouble finding a seat - in fairness they offered a free drink but not really the issue

Room, or 2 bed condo as it actually was, was ok on the surface - decor is obvisouly OTT but it actually sort of works - we had a nice view onto the boats/water - and....well thats about it - rooms were not great - second bedroom a bit pokey - main bedroom decent size but not much storage - main bathroom big with decent bath, but the whirlpool when on sounded like a tractor - plenty of towels though, and nice amenities

other issues included the TV in the bedroom not working properly all trip, we had no safe for the first night, the air-con broke for the duration of the trip and the lock on the balcony door had to be replaced - very annoying - and while the balconey was nice, the constant drone from the pool pump on the ground floor below rather mitigated the pleasant view - oh and despite me telling them at time of booking there was still no baby amenities - and then they CHARGED me for the baby cot rental along with the baby bath - for shame - absolute disgrace to pay this sort of money and then have them sneak that onto the bill

we only ate there for breakfast as it was included - very ordinary - selection wasn't great, and the quality matched the selection - oh and they hadn't enough seats because the hotel was completely full - so we had to queue for 4 of the mornings we were there - even then , we were shipped to a windowless frozen tundra off the main restaurant area where you had to get everything yourself

staff - on the whole they were execellent - i felt truly sorry for them as clearly there wasn't enough of them to cope on the busy days, but they kept their cool and their smiles - one of the few pleasant memories - i'd have complained more when i was there, but there wasn't a manager in sight - nor was the 'front desk' ever manned - the concierge was non-existent, so we relied on the staff in Le Jardin and the guys on the front door (both groups were exceptionally helpful and welcoming).

so on the whole, save your cash for something else (you'll need it, the GC is expensive!) - i certainly won't be darkening their doors again, despite the mostly diamond quality staff

“Nothing lacking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This 5 star hotel is just that. Everything is top quality. The service is exceptional and probably the best I have experienced anywhere in Australia. The rooms are simply opulent. Breakfast is an absolute feast. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Versace certainly lives up to it's reputation.

“Sublime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

It is certainly worth treating yourself to a relaxing holiday experience at Palazzo Versace. We returned to the hotel for a few nights in early November and were again completely satisfied by the level of service and the overall hotel experience. Swimming in the crystal clear lagoon pool; reading under the palm trees; and eating spectacular food are all part of the daily grind at the hotel. What more can we say. The secret is well and truly out.

“Very Disapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012 via mobile

I have always wanted to stay there and finally decided to go. We arrived and our room was ready early which was great. Room was very spacious and the bathroom was incredible with the most awesome big bath. We decided to go down to the bar area to have a few drinks and some lunch. We waited for our lunch for over an hour and when it finally came it was cold and you could tell it stranded for a while. We waited for our drinks forever and constantly had to get their intention to order more. Extremely frustrating considering it is a 5 star hotel so you expect great service. We enjoyed our stay but overall for the price that you pay to stay there I just think you can get much better value for money. I doubt we will stay there again soon. Maybe they were just really busy but when you have a 5 star reputation people are a bit less forgiving.

Dear cindselt,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your stay at Palazzo Versace. It is only through the voice of our customers, such as yours that we can address issues and therefore improve our guest experience and service.

I am glad to read though that you enjoyed your room and that it was available for you on your early arrival.

It is very disappointing to read that the service standards were not up to your expectations around the pool bar and that you had to wait a considerable amount of time for your food order. Palazzo Versace has gained a reputation on wonderful service so this is very disappointing to hear.

I hope to be able to able to restore you faith in our hotel and I would like to reengineer your experience and extend an invitation to enjoy complimentary upgrade on your next stay.

We very much hope to welcome you back in the near future.

Sincerely yours

Ben McDermott
