“wow! whale-tastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

We went on the afternoon whale watch trip on Fathers Day. It was the most incredible experience. All staff from the initial phone call, to check in, to those on the boat were friendly professional and knowledgeable. We saw many whales and the boat was huge and gave everyone room to view these magnificent creatures. I have been on another company's cruise a few years ago and it does not even remotely compare to what Sea World Whale Watch offer.
The seas were rough but the boat large and stable and sea sickness tablets on offer if you wish.
We saw a turtle, several groups of whales very close to the boat and on the way home a whale breached over and over again. Totally exhilarating experience ! Had a coffee and cake at the venue afterwards and that was lovely too. Only negative is parking at Sea World very limited at the time the cruise goes so can be stressful.

“Had a whale of time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

We got the combo package-whale watching & sea world. check in staff were friendly and efficient. Boat ride wasnt bumpy at all. Guided commentary was great. We were lucky to watch pods of whales coming from different directions and a small pod of bottlenose dophins too! The whales were everywhere, we saw different behaviours and breached a few times. The closest breach was about 20 meters away from the boat and it caught us off guarded. Everyone was looking at other directions so only 1 of the crew and us witnessed it. Fantastically awesome experience. Love it!

We're pleased to hear you had an excellent time onboard our whale watching tour. What an experience it must have been to witness the whale breach only 20 metres from our vessel.

“Environmentally safe and comfortable way to access to the whales”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

I have attempted whale watching tours before with limited success. This one comes with a guarantee...no whales gives you a full refund.
I was not dissappointed, the stars of the show came out to play. The humpback whales were amazing.
Our trip began with a very informative large screen presentation followed by continuing narrative and directions from the great experienced and friendly staff. I particularly enjoyed listening to the 'whale-song' heard from the underwater microphone.
I would suggest that people accept the offer of Ginger tablets for motion sensitivity. Once out on the open water the swell can be challenging (Staff are very supportive for those who struggle)
The complimentary pick-up service is a bonus for visitors.

Thank you for posting your photos and letting us know how much you enjoyed the experience. It's always special when we can place our hydrophone in the water and hear the whales sing.

“Absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

There are a few vendors offering whale watching tours but I decided to book the family pass for 2A+2C with Seaworld Cruises for an afternoon whale-watching tour that comes with Seaworld entry tickets at AUD325. I booked a little too late for the morning whale watching tour but was lucky to get the afternoon slots for 4 of us. We visited Seaworld in the day. It's a small theme park that can be completed in about 3 hours, more suited for families with younger children. The Dolphin show is worth a go.

We assembled at Seaworld cruises at 1:45pm to obtain our boarding passes and boarded the "Spirit of Migloo", a 3-level large boat at 2:00pm, making a short pit-stop at the Sea World Resort to pick up a few more passengers before proceeding out to sea. My 13 years old daughter and I are prone to sea-sicknesses but the large and stable boat and of course the fine weather and not very choppy seas meant that we were ok throughout the trip without the need for any medication. Our guide was Tess and she did a wonderful job providing us with information of the skyline and the marine life. We sighted the humpback whales many times with the help of the captain and crew and truly enjoyed basking in the magnificence of nature. We saw another whale watching tour provider out at sea near where we stopped to spot the whales and I must say the passengers on the smaller and less impressive-looking boat must have envied us on the "Spirit of Migloo" that is larger, new, modern and well-kept! ;p

The only thing to note is that you need to pick up your Seaworld tickets at the Seaworld Cruises counter rather than proceed straight to the Seaworld entry. Some of the Seaworld staff were not aware of this.

Check-in process was easy with efficient and friendly staff operating cafe, introduction and cashier. The boat was luxerious and very steady. We saw humback whales many times. Fully recommend others to try this tour :)
