We arrived to an unattended reception with a 7 yr old. I advised them that we would arrive at 2pm but arrived at 3.20pm due to unexpected delays at Sydney. When i contacted the owner on his mobile he said that he had no booking for me - even thought I had it in writing. I waited for 30mins. WHen he arrived there was no apology- he said it was an 'oversight'. But he had taken my $200 deposit - funny that. Then he also found my email (funny again )and said that he was expecting us to arrive at 2pm - I told him that we were delayed but he didnt flinch. He said "You get what you paid for "! They obviously left reception and attended to their own personal errands. I can understand people have personal emergencies but a phone call wouldve been appreciated and maybe have avoided all of this. By this stage we were very upset with the lack of customer service and the way he was treating us. And, YES we voiced our disappointment, as would any customer. I wasn't going to stand there and cough up the balance of $440 and be treated like I was at fault. They did not even offer us a discount or room upgrade. His wife then appeared and said that she didnt want us there because wait for it everyone - we had insulted them !!!!! YOU JOKING !! All of a sudden we were the culprits. Obvisouly they need to learn more about people skills and management etiquette. They gave me a cheque for $200 and said "you wont find a cheaper place",.,,Guess what we did - across the road - cheaper, newer, with air con and very polite managers, I have travelled the world and never ever experienced this type of rude, aloof behaviour, It was awful. Very disappointing experience. This is the honest truth. I swear it.
