Me and my boyfriend stayed at Pallas Hotel for two weeks from 22nd August until 5th September 2013. We wanted a peaceful holiday but one that's near night life so we could go out if we wanted to.
FOOD - The food was very nice and nothing to complain about, but a bit repetitive (and the fact there are a million giant wasps attacking you everytime you eat) we were all inclusive which I would recommend to anyone that stays at this hotel. Breakfast: bacon, sausages, boiled and fried eggs, beans, mushrooms, eggy bread and sausages. Toast, croissants, cereals, coffee, tea and juices. It was served between 8am and 10am in the main restaurant which we thought was a good time even if you've been out all night you can get there for just before 10 and eat something. Lunch was served in the outside bar by the pool and was quite limited but if you are all inclusive you can order extras like omelettes, pizzas, burgers, salads etc. Main lunch was usually club sandwiches and chips, pastas, sausages, omelettes, and plenty of yummy salad! Dinner was served in the main restaurant and had a decent amount of choices from Greek foods to english foods, lots of salads and nice desserts (loved their chocolate mousse!) and on Fridays they have a BBQ in the outside bar which is usually quite busy was really nice :) As for food in the local area it was quite cheap if you want meals out, most have a set menu - starter main dessert and 1 pint of drink including beer or cocktails is about 15 euros depending where you go!
DRINKS - We were all inclusive so we could get most drinks included - soft drinks such as coke, lemonade, water, orange juice, pineapple juice etc. The local beer served in 1/2 pints, spirits vodka, ouzo, peach schnapps etc etc nice cocktails were also included such as sex on the beach, blue lagoon and were pretty strong so i didn't need many anyway! As for drinks on the strip they were usually pretty cheap - Kamakaze halfway down the strip near the beach served cheap cocktails 2 euros each and 50 cents shots and beers including corona etc were only 2 euros too! The bigger clubs like zeros sold tiny cocktails or drinks for 5 euros so definitely pre drink before you go!
LOCATION - The hotel is in a really quiet area in almost countryside, but there are loads of stray dogs (two of which i'm in the process of adopting because it upset me so much to see the way they are left on the street!!) and tiny tiny kittens which is really upsetting - you can also hear chickens and roosters in the early morning and during the day but you get used to it. DEFINITELY pay for air conditioning which is 50 euros per week but worth it - we didn't pay for it and had to leave our balcony doors open all night meaning we heard our neighbours talking early morning and i got bitten all over by mosquitos who seemed to love me. One bite was so bad i couldn't walk and had to limp to the doctors but there are doctors and a pharmacy halfway down the main strip which was only a 10-15 minute walk away! The beach is about 15-20 minutes away because you have to walk left out of the hotel and then down a really long country road (which isn't lit up at night so if you're a group of girls i recommend getting taxis at night because its a bit dodgy) and then turn right and you're on the strip! Close to night life but far enough away that you're not up all night and day and can get good rest!
STAFF - The staff were usually lovely - at the bar there was a man called Dimitrius who we thought was really moody and scary at first, but by the end of the trip he was really lovely and helpful and has a really cool motorbike... At night Kirsty worked at the bar who was always really lovely but completely rushed off her feet - but i'm pretty sure she told me she's leaving at the end of this summer :( the women at the main reception were generally friendly but i did hear them shouting at other people and having arguments with lots of people staying at the hotel... you can't bring anyone home at night they say, but the security is really rubbish and we saw people plenty of times sneaking people in through back enterances! everytime we came home on a night out we never saw the security man that we read about on old reviews!
NIGHTLIFE - The night life is really good, the only annoying thing is EVERY bar tries to get you inside while you're walking past which gets really irritating and they wont let you use the toilet unless you buy a drink... and the toilets are mens and womens mixed almost everywhere! There are plenty of things to do, paint parties, foam parties, booze cruises... it's busy every single night, no night is quiet! I think it's like that from June to September! I would definitely recommend the foam party which literally came up to my waist and they played the best music, painting in colours was quiet and boring even though it was fun to get covered in powder paint... i bought all my tickets from 'i-tours' which was the first shop on the right hand side that we found as you turn onto the strip from the country road from the hotel... the woman there was really nice and if you book several trips out and parties she will usually give you a good package deal an knock some money off so definitely book everything together and haggle! Me and my boyfriend were all inclusive and we brought 700 euros between us and we managed to go on a tour of the island, visit shipwreck beach, go out every night, go to different parties and meals out - so unless you plan on going mad and spending lots of money when you're out you don't need much!!
*** Overall we had an amazing holiday, 34 degrees every day, 20 degrees minimum at night, the staff were lovely to us, our room was the perfect size and the towels and sheets got changed every two days - just make sure you don't stain them with makeup or paint from the party because i heard people getting charged for this! but then we broke our tap and smashed a glass, the man said it was no problem and we didn't get charged so i'm not sure!! I would definitely recommend this hotel to couples or groups of friends who want to be close to night life but far enough away that you can relax during the day, and be near the beach and shops!***
