I turned back home abosolutely frustrated a tired from the stay in this hotel. We stayed there in 3.8.-14.8.2007 following the offer of travel agency which presented this hotel as ****, all incl., delicious food and great place to have a rest and recharge yourself.
Nothing was truth.
Thanks God that after several escalation to the hotel mgt we moved from the room No. 18 which can be easy called a jug (ground floor room, no window, only balcony doors shined by shutter, lowered ceiling, no ceiling lighting, oriented to sunny and dusty parking, with noisy and hot A/C ventilator on small balkony terrace and noisy A/C machine inside the room blasting the air directly to children extra bed).We were offered to move to the 1st floor room, where we have got the daylight and feeling we are saved, really absolute minimum to not cancel the stay.
The hotel is divided into 3 parts, 1 old when we stayed and 2 more modern but used exclusively for the clients of Dutch and German TAs. No chance to get there.
Presented delicious food is really standard of 3 stars hotel, do not expect any fish (only fillets), suvlaki or sea fruits. Pancakes were not fresh, panacota made from milk, no wine grapes, served wines and beer as really swipes.
Simple lunch buffet available at pool bar area starting at 12:30, i.e. in the biggest heat under several umbrellas. My child nearly collapsed every day. No service for dirty dishes, do it yourself.
The pool area was poorly cleaned, dirty sunbeds, overflowing baskets, butts, snuffled napkins...
The room was very simple and it was necessary to relocate the extra bed of my child to keep her healthy. You cannot sleep with A/C switched on due the the noisiness, but you cannot open the balcony door due the noisiness outside. Big dilema.
Two good things: no moskytos, fine bed quality.
Nearly for whole stay we have got some English rowdies in our neighbourhood. Young English people like Laganas very much, but the hotel mgt should decide to whom it wants to addres the service and safeguard some comfort standard during the night.
Laganas is absolutly lost place for the turists which are going to stay in life but not aggressive summer resort. Laganas looks more like South American resort than a Greek one. Faliraki in Rhodos is a pious place compared to Laganas. The Greeks destroyed this place not only for the poors turtles,but also for all people with some minimal sense for living environment and good mind.
The island is nice, especially West and North. You can make some nice trips to to tavernas, villages and rocky seaside.
But in Laganas and in general in Zakynthos I did not feel the famous Greek friendliness and hospitality - the first time for more than 10 years travelling to this Greece and the islands. Strange feeling. OK, no more Zakynthos.

Stayed in this hotel second week in September. Been to Zakynthos before and the beach is worth it. The hotel itself was exceptionally clean, the chamber maids are excellent, all in all everybody is nice.

However, one or two of the bar staff need to learn some old fashioned manners, one in particular with a boldish head, over 30s I would say, was exceptionally rude - but perked up when he thought he would be getting a tip due to the fact we were due to leave at the end of the week. In fact, had the nerve to ask.

Now, the hotel manager is great but ladies if you are going without your husband be weary of him he is a typical mediterrean man thinking women are easy the persistent inuendos gets very boring and annoying to be honest.

As with typical greece you have to be careful of the flow of shower and bath water as it raises the water through the bathroom drain. But our drain flooded a few times but the reception staff asked one of their housekeepers to mop the floor and maintenance checked the drains, so they are polite and prompt if any minor problems.

All in all this hotel is a traditional beautiful greek hotel and an enjoyable stay with lots of English speaking channels during the evening until early hours of the morning.

The galaxy hotel is a nice hotel, with great food and a great pool. However, it is mainly for German not the English. If you are a young person who wants to meet other English people, then other places such as the Cactus Apartments, Jimnys Apartments are other good places near the centre of Laganas.

Laganas is a lively resort, the night life is hetic after 11pm till 6am. The best club is Rescue, which plays a good selection of Dance, RnB and Old Skool.

The waterpark is not the best - with only 8 slides party people you may spend the day sleeping at the waterpark!

The weather is extremely hot at the moment - it was 40c yesterday 21st June 2006.

Laganas has really nice beaches, and apart from Galaxy hotel is full of young lively English.

although Galaxy hotel will be a great place for couples and families who just want to be based at the hotel for the holiday duration.
