I went to Zante this year with a few friends on our first girly holiday!! We picked Hotel Olympia via a travel agents and it was just about what we expected.
We got there early (around 6am local time) and the check in was a bit of a mad rush but they did have a whole coach load of people to deal with! They take your passports at check in to secure your stay.
Once this was out the way we had to haul our cases up to the 1st floor and on to our room. It was pretty basic to be perfectly honest, 2 beds and a roll out in the corner, a few tables, a balcony and a small bathroom. (you had to hold the shower when washing as the holder was only waist height) We then went to explore the rest of the hotel, which isnt massive. Just down from the reception is the bar and eating area which does all you snack and junk food grub (I suggest the club sandwich, they cured many a hangover) then opposite is the pool, which isnt huge but has plenty of loungers and lilos in it.
The main strip is about 10 minutes walk away and isnt much to look at in the day but at night its TOTALLY different. So many clubs, pubs, bars etc. Theres plenty of fishbowls, shots, pints, bottles to choose from. Try and get on a barcrawl if you can.
Dont go to Zante thinking that Laganas beach is going to be a white sand paradise as it is far from it!! Its a bit grey and looks kinda dirty in the light of day...personally I have seen 50x better english beaches. However St Nics beach is about a half hour coach ride away and is gorgeous!! Loads of watersports, beach bar, little floating peer thing etc.
The 18-30s reps were so much fun and they were always up for getting wasted with you. They werent really around much in the day but at night you couldnt move without seeing them. Try and go pay for the whole package if you can and get in on all the activities coz you meet so many people.
We met a massive group of lads who were so much fun and had us in stitches the whole week.
One down side was we had a bit of an iccident with the heat, as did loads of others and there were a few cases of heat stroke and sun stroke BUT no doctor about to help. It was kinda a case of look after yourself with the hotel staff but they must see it so often they know its nothing to worry about. Apart from that they are all really nice, esp the owner who just messes about with everyone.
Brilliant place if you after a clubbing holiday, not for families AT ALL, dont expect anything posh or a nice beach.
