“Not the best..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2009

We weren't expecting much considering how cheap it was and the fact that it was a 3 star, and we were right not to expect much. The rooms are very basic, 2 beds and a little fold-out bed for three of us, and a liitle table. We had a balcony, but the view was not the bast. The bathroom was basic, if a bit grimy. There were always lots of ants in our room, even though we didn't have any food. When they changed our towels, they gave us towels with make up and dirty marks on them, and we had to complain twice before they actually gave us clean ones. They also didn't change the sheets until we complained.

Having said that, it was in a good location for clubbing, just a ten minute walk from the main strip with many bars and restaurants on the way. The pool and outdoor area was nice, and the hotel bar was nice too, the food was good and service was really quick. I definitely wouldn't have to breakfast at the hotel as it looked awful and people eating it were complaining about it. We skipped it and instead ate at the hotel bar. The staff were friendly.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this for families. About 90% of the people staying there were under 25, and there were drunken people coming back at all hours of the morning making noise. If you're coming for a clubbing holiday, then I would recommend it as it is cheap and a good location. It's not luxury, but we weren't even in our room that much so it was that bad.

The Ikaros Hotel was brilliant for the price we paid. Travelled with 6 girls all of us aged about 18. When we arrived they gave us the usual lecture on noise and rules blah blah blah its to be expected but they still were really nice and helpful. The owner dropped in alot and always made sure that the guests were happy.
The pool was big and clean but the poolside bar was a rip off. Ah well theres a shop about 30 seconds across the road. The rooms were VERY basic just 2 beds and a wardrobe but still clean. When leaving at night the staff always wished us a good night and chatted about where we were headed giving us advice if we were headed for a kip. Always took our key for us and were there when we got home asking us all about the night even though we couldn't remember half of it.
The restaurant wasn't the best ah bless it was manky. If you're going stay self catering. They really didn't know how to cook. Wouldn't advise it for families that want a break. It was very young and nearly all of the hotel were under 25. Had great craic at night with the rest of the guests.
Definatley one of the best holidays I've been on. Defo going back we've got to check up on our poolside barmen :)
Cheap and friendly. Loved it!

Ok, so this hotel was never going to be an amazing 5*, we only paid something like £500 for 4 people in 2 rooms. We arrived at the hotel mid-afternoon and got straight into our rooms, our rooms were kind of in the basement of the hotel. The rooms were very basic indeed, but suppose it had everything you needed apart from a much needed fridge (which you have to pay extra for). The cleaniless of the rooms was not very good, the rooms are mopped every day and thats about it. They just mop the main areas, underneath the beds and cabinets, it was horrible and dusty. Ants nests were all around the room. Hotel is very noisy at night until about 8am in the morning. The hotel bar and pool were ok, the pool was clean, and I saw the management clean the pool every night without fail which impressed me.

The staff at the hotel were generally pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is located about 10min walk from the main strip, whilst on the way to the main strip there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, just beware of the pushy reps en route, some do not take 'no' for an answer.

Laganas is a resort for a the young and lively who enjoy sleeping in the day and going out all night. If this is not what you're about, then I would say not to go there. The beach area is ok, but again, reps are dotted all along the beach front.

Overall, Laganas is probably suited towards the late teens, early twentys age group. I had a good time out there, but probably wouldn't stay at the Ikaros Hotel again.

We arrived at the Ikaros where we were greeted by Ramos the slightly odd romanian drunken man on night shift! We got to our room 113 where we tried to get a bit of rest after the delayed flight....this was not to be as we were next door to the cleaners cupboard where it sounded like they were playing dodgems with their trolleys! We were moved without a problem to room 120 which was fine until we had a shower where we were greeted by the mouldy swampy smelling shower curtain that had been fitted wrong and attacked us everytime we washed!! We have attached a piccie of this disgusting curtain. As you may have read previously the not so 'continental' breakfast was very bland and consisted of stale bread, a boiled egg, 2 halves of a slice of spam, 2 halves of tasteless rubber cheese and a quite pleasant slice of cake that i advise to save until last to take away the bad taste in your mouth! they occasionally had natural yogurt which, mixed with some jam, is quite tasty and we actually found ourselves looking forward to the days we got this :)

The rooms are very basic but you have everything you need! Our room was cleaned on the surface but under the bed, cupboard, draws etc there was balls of dust which played havock with my hayfever! We had an infestation of ants that we killed in the first week of our holiday and they were still there when we left as the cleaner didnt actually clean anything in our room! The extent of the cleaning was throwing the sheet over the bed and brushing off our sheet which we only had changed three times in 2 weeks. Oh and you will not get fresh towels unless they look as if they have been dipped in poo..... they just hang them out on the balcony! On the 1 occassion the cleaner did decide to drag a mop around with her it made our room stink of stale dirty water!

The charges for the air con, safety deposit box, fridge and sunded cushions are disgraceful so here are our tips.... lift the front of the air con unit up and on the right hand side of the unit there is a button that is labelled emergancy on/off. if you push this once it will turn the air con on! hey presto....free aircon! we advise to take a lockable suitcase to save on safety box fees and instead of paying for sunbed cushions buy a lilo( about 4 euro's) and lay that on the sunbed! and as for the fridge....they pretty much got ya on that one! we just bought freshwater and stuff from the shop that is about a 2 min walk away!

The bar that is attached to the hotel is good for alcoholic drinks but soft drinks like coke will cost you an arm and a leg and their music playlist is as short as a dwaft! someone needs to hide the 'DJ' (if you can call him that) in the basement!!!!

We are young ourselves but even the noise and constant banging, revving of quads, shouting and young men pleading with their girlfriends to let them back in their room night after night got a bit much and we need another holiday to get over this one!

Places to eat and drink....... No 1 is Jimmys Place!! The Island, Lotions, Rescue Club, Hot Lips, Cubaneros, Kostas Taverna, Taj Mahal!

Places to avoid......
Ioanian Sea ( the man ran away from us when we told him what we thought of his restaurant) They over charged us for food that wasnt even good enough for my dog!

Angus Steak House- We couldnt tell what meat was on our plate in our mixed grill and they charged nearly 4 euros service charge for 2 of us to eat and charged us for garlic bread that was given to us 'free' without us asking for it!

Other than this our holiday was brilliant as we made sure we were not at the hotel unless we were trying to sleep!

It was mine and my partner's first holiday together, so looked around for a bit for a nice place and Zante was great!
Booked at the Ikaros hotel and was a little bit wary as saw a mixture of reviews but the hotel and their people were lovely.
The room is basic, bed, drawers, dresing table, wardrobe and ensuite bathroom. All the rooms have their own balcony. My partner wasn't too impressed by the cleaning but it wasn't too bad, obviously not a 100% but I'd say 80%! (He's got his own cleaning company so he's a very picky!!!)
It does get very hot during the day and nights, we slept with the balcony door opening as we didn't wanna pay for the air con which is I think 40 Euros for a week since we weren't going to be at the hotel much but be ware of the mosquitos!!! I got quite a few bites both morning and night :(
Breakfast is continental only, cerals, ham, cheese, boiled egg and squash orange juice... Pool area nice but we didn't use it at all as we spent most of our time at the beach and around the island.
Never ate at the restaurant, but we did order drinks which we were charged full price evethough they were advertised for 5 Euros for 2.
The restaurant up the road 'The Island' was great, really cool and friendly people!!!
The hotel is close to all the bars and restaurants, 5mins from the main road and 5 mins from the beach... try 'Havana beach club', (not an actual club, beach bar during the day).
Overall the hotel was nice, confortable and accessible... you're getting your money's worth!

I booked last minute at this Hotel, and after reading the reviews wasnt sure what I would be getting. But no worries, it was lovely, and the staff were absolutely fabulous. The room was nice, stayed in 117, comfortable, bathroom was ok, shower had no curtain and you had to hold it, but hey, thats no issue!! Breakfast was ok, enough to fill me up! The pool area is lovely, and because I went at the start of the season, sunbeds were aplenty. I have a friend who works in Amigos Bar, Anet, which is why I went, 2nd time in 9 months. Her bar was a 2min walk from this hotel, and this hotel is so close to all the restaurants and bars, and not too far away from 'the strip' which doesnt interest me! I cant praise this hotel enough, people was so great here, especially Anna, the day-time receptionist, and the lady who was on after her..all lovely. If you go, try out Amigos Bar, just up the street, its a fantastic bar, Live music EVERY night, great atmosphere..and give my love to my friend Anet!

I went last summer at the end of june/begining of july with two other girls and we had a great holiday :)
obviously room + bathroom was basic (but clean) as the price is so cheap but if your'e on a clubbin holiday you wont be in the room much as we were by the pool all day and out at night.
staff were quite friendly, some nicer than others but they dont mind what time u come in at night/early morn and look after your key when your're out.
location wise very good, ten min walk to the strip and restraurants and bars along the way till you get there.
wouldnt recommend this to familys, couples or older people as its defintly more of a clubbin location and so most people there are young :)
the breakfast was a bit odd though, an egg, roll with cheese and ham and a slab of stale cake with some strange tasting juice but as we only made it to breakfast once it didnt really matter too much.
overall would rate this hotel 8/10 for our type of holiday and would def return!
