First to squash the bad reviews -
1/ the owners don't speak English very well but the sons and daughter do and they are on hand to help with any problem.
2/ there are no hidden extras any more, they used to charge for a/con and safes but that has changed, what you book is what you pay.
Now that i have that out of the way the hotel is lovely it has a well kept pool and enough sun beds to go around. the location could be a problem for small children as it is 5-10 min walk from kamari center but for anyone else its fine and in some ways nice to have a pool which has no on lookers all day.
The breakfast is basic but it is fine especially for what you pay.
Tripadvisor lists this hotel as a 2* but it is definitely better than that.
i have known the family for 14 years now and every time we go back we are instantly welcome and are made to feel like part of the family. i would recommend this hotel to anyone but take a push chair for young kids. (my arms were aching from carrying my lazy 2 year old)
Another worthy mention is the greek nights (see this link http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g658914-d4355603-Reviews-Greek_Nights_Tavern_Dimitris-Kamari_Santorini_Cyclades.html) it is alot of fun for all the family, the music is fantastic and done by the hotel owners sons. The food is great and if you book through the hotel directly and not the reps its cheaper and you get more wine (win, win)
