“A quiet retreat in Kamari”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

My sister & I stayed here for a quiet week in October. The hotel had very good facilities but as the hotel was closing down for the winter not all of them were available to us, e.g. jacuzzi, indoor pool and outdoor pool bar and cafe. It is located at the end of the beach and up a fairly steep slope but handy for the local bus and beach bars and restaurants. Sheets and towels changed every day and our room was very clean. Staff friendly and 24hr reception. Views stunning from balcony. An unlikely and unassuming little treasure.

Room Tip: Request a sea or pool view as these are quieter than those above reception.

A very nice hotel, recently built so everything is in good order. It is well maintained and all the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are pretty big and the views from the balconies are amazing - one of the hotels furthest up the hill (only 100m, not a big climb) so you look over the sea. It also benefits from being away from the main drag, which gives it a lot more of a relaxed feel. The breakfast is good as well, standard continental. The only thing I'd be wary of/ warn against is don't be sold on the private hot tub on the balcony/ terrace, very overrated/ not really what it says on the tin - very small, cold and in the shade most of the day, plus you miss out on the amazing views. Apart from that though, the owners are lovely and I would highly recommend as a place to stay in Kamari.

Room Tip: Honeymoon room is the biggest and best - best view and balcony (not much privacy on balcony though...

We really like this hotel! Everything here invites you to come again - great view on the Kamari beach and the sea, breakfast, location and helpfull staff. The hotel is situated in a quiet area near the foot of the rock, but you can reach the beach and the restaurants in 5 minutes. We was here during 4 days, and if we would visit Santorini once again, we would definetly stay in here.

Beautiful hotel, bit of a hill to climb but if I can do it anyone can. Stayed for a week, not long enough. Room with jacuzzi we had booked was not available first day, alternative room offered was so nice we decided to keep that. Breakfast was great lots to choose from, pool area was so relaxing. The whole experience was great, whole of Santorini is beautiful. I would definitely go back to this hotel, everything you needed from cleanliness to facilities without anyone being in your face.

All the reviews of this hotel we found to be absolutely true! See......TA does tell the truth you doubters......We have just returned from a 10 night stay and cannot fault it..
Set just above the resort , nestling into the rising cliffs , it made the hotel feel cosy, safe and in it's own exclusive terraced setting. Just consider the uphill walk and stairs .
The owners actually work on site , and were attentive and efficient ,leaving us a comp bottle of wine in our room which is always nice..On arrival we were given a room with a hot tub on the balcony for our first 3 nights, which we hadn't booked...so a Bargain very happilly received. Reception staff ( Katherine)was always able to advise and help 2 middled aged duffers like us,Nice to have staff running a hotel that you actually have confidence in and whom you feel you could approach with any query, including whether it was worth reading all 3 EL James books.( N0 !!) . The guests ranged from honey mooners and 50 + couples (Us) from all around Europe and the mix worked well. No families as schools had gone back, but it does cater for family groups as well! As there seemed to us to be plenty of weddings happening around Santorini, the EPAVALIS would be good bet indeed for small family groups on a Wedding bash.
Hotel situation very convenient, for beach , ( 3 mins) Tavernas, and all amenities .The rooms are all well appointed, plenty of space, good bathrooms, balconies and immaculately serviced daily.Linen, towels frequently changed, and your room tidied ! The pool and surrounds also VG .Finally, the buffet breakfast was varied ,and set outside under an arched terrace in the sun.
All round , the EPAVALIS more than deserves it's 4 stars ,thank you for a wonderful holiday .

Room Tip: choose a sea view room with or without jacuzzi. Some rooms have four poster beds for the romantics!!

We cannot fault the Epavlis Hotel and it helped to make our honeymoon perfect.

The hotel was immaculate, it was extremely clean and nothing looked tired and in need of replacing, the cleaning staff made sure everywhere was spotless. They not only cleaned our room thoroughly but tidied it as was, they were lovely and very friendly.

The pool area was of the same high standards as the rest of the hotel and looked out over Kamari and the sea. If you get up around 7am and go down to the pool you will see a stunning sunrise. We didn't use the pool bar but we saw lots of people eating from their menu at lunch time, the hotel does not have a restaurant however the bar does offer drinks, snacks and lunch.

There was a huge selection at breakfast, drinks, hot and cold food, cereals, fruit, Greek yoghurt and honey (of course) breads, cakes and pastries. Being Lactose intolerant I thought there might not be a great deal for me to eat but I was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel is set back from the main beach front but that was a plus for us making it quiet and private, a lot of the hotels along the beach front are open for the public to walk past and see right into the pool areas. It took us about 3 minutes to walk down to the beach and the same time to walk to the restaurants, bars and shops. There is a hill to walk to get to the the hotel and there are many steps in the hotel but we didn't find them a problem at all, if anything it is good exercise after all the beautiful Greek food.

The Epavlis is an excellent hotel and I am glad we picked it for our honeymoon, we will definitely be returning to see some of the sites we didn't have time for.

Arrived back from staying at the Epavlis last night after a lovely holiday. The hotel as far as my husband and myself are concerned surpassed itself from the decor, cleanliness, breakfast and very friendly staff. We were quite surprised at the size of our room and for once had more than adequate storage which in a lot of hotels is somewhat lacking. The view was amazing!! I must admit though I didn't think I had walking difficulties but soon found out that when walking up the that incline (for want of a better word) during the day with the sun beating down, it does become a task, even when walking back at night it can become a little tiring to say the least. The night life itself is just at the right distance from the hotel and is, therefore, in a quiet location. There are many tavernas to choose from to eat but we did find our favourite and ate there for most of our holiday. All in all had a good time. Would we return to the Epavlis, a big definite. Would we return to Santorini possibly but only for a week and not two.

Room Tip: A room with a sea view is a must.
