“Pure gem of a hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012

After a major search to find the perfect hotel in Kamari, we chose the Epavlis due to the fantastic reviews, and we were so very happy we did!

This small boutique hotel has roughly only about 40 rooms, it is very clean and stylish with very friendly staff. as it is so small you really get to know everyone who works and is staying there! Most of the coach from Thomas Cook was for this hotel!

The rooms a very airy and a beautiful romantic style. We paid extra for a sea view which I would highly recommend, room 103 is a perfect view, and as it is above the reception it is lovely and quiet!

The pool area is lovely and clean, and as it is so small there is never a real fight for beds. Also the pool bar food is a great price. it only does pizza, toasties or salads, but they are a great price and does this till 11pm. We had a lovely pizza and Greek salad for dinner one night, and it was a lot cheaper than going down the front!

The location of the hotel is brilliant, please be warned it is up quite a steep hill, but it really only takes two minutes and your at the beginning of Kamari. This in fact is a pure blessing as you up that little bit away, you are not under the aeroplanes flying over, and you don't get all the noisy bikes and quad bikes driving past, like the poor people in the hotels and apartments in the heart of Kamari.

I would say one thing, and this is with regards the whole of Santorini, there is a lot of dogs roaming around, all quite friendly and don't bother you, but please be aware of this if you have a phobia of dogs as you may not like it too much. Being someone who isn't that too keen on dogs, I have to admit they didn't bother us, and if anything I made names for them as they were always about. We found this all over the Island, The only one issue we had was in Oia when a dog started getting a bit angry and barking which was quite unnerving.

All in all we loved this hotel and would go back in a heartbeat! Kamari is such a sweet little resort and we enjoyed it very much!

Room Tip: I would really go for the upgrade and go for a sea view! We had room 103 and was a brilliant view!

The hotel is lovely and is made even more special by the helpful staff.

When we first arrived we were given an inner facing room which looks into the corridor, I was not happy about this and asked to be moved to an outside facing room. There was no rooms available that day but luckily there was a cancellation for the next day to a sea facing room so we were upgraded to that. If you like natural daylight in your room and would prefer a nice view I would strongly advise checking what room you will be getting when you book.

The hotel and rooms were clean and well kept. I would say the only downside to the hotel was the breakfast, which after the first two days I didn't bother getting up for.

The location of the hotel is good, close to all the restaurants, the beach and the bus stop if you want to go to the capital Fira.

I would recommend hiring a car if you can whilst you are out there, there is loads more to see on the island and it's easy to get around.

This hotel is superb. We had a really great time at Epavlis this year in June. The stuff were great, polite, very helpful and they are always smiling, thank you Victor and Katherine.
If you need something just ask and you'll be server in shortest time.
The hotel has a nice and quite location with a beautiful view. It is on a hill but it is the best place to stay in Kamari because it's not crowded.
We had a "Delux Room with Jacuzzi", very spacious, with a great balcony with jacuzzi, sunbeds, umbrella and everything we need. A really great room.
The hotel has no restaurant, they server breakfast only but don't worry about the food. There are a lot of tavernas in the near the hotel and the beach.
We especially liked Captain Hook Restaurant. This is near the beach and has a great view to the see. We spent a lot of time here and we had a lot of fun. The personal is very kind and all the food is very good. Mr. Hook is fisherman so the fish is always fresh and tasty and the wine is very good. In general the white wine is very good in Santorini, especially the home made one. You can found it at family taverns along the island.
Andreas Taverna was also a good one very close to the hotel.
All the island is wild and beautiful. Don't miss Red Beach, Eros Beach and the sunset in Oia.

Room Tip: Choose Delux Room with Jacuzzi, not necessary for jacuzzi, but the room is big and has a great posit...

When we got to this hotel we thought it was in the middle of nowhere, but it actually IS in the middle of everywhere! Kamari Beach, super charming with tons of places to eat, and very well kept is just steps away. The swimming pool is wonderful. The personnel is very friendly and helpful.

I don't give an excellent as there were a couple of things not working properly: the AC, the drainage system (the bathtub leaked everywhere). All in all is very good. I would recommend it and go back.

I stayed in a room with a little balcony and sea view. Tons of stairs to climb though! You don't want to forget something in your room!

Breakfast is good. Very "home made".

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view, and ask to be close to the pool.

We (two couples) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kamari, largely due to the Epavlis Hotel.
The hotel was cool, comfortable and classy.
The staff were always on the ball. Our rooms were spotless and cleaned every day from top to bottom. As were the external areas.
We had requested two adjacent rooms, with not too many steps, a view of the sea and a sunny balcony. That was exactly what we got. A big thankyou due to Kathryn, the hotel manager.
(The fridge and safe - both without charge - was a real bonus).

Breakfast was slanted toward European custom. We would have liked more fresh fruit and cereal, but you can't have everything.
Hopefully, we'll be back.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing the sea with not too many steps, but not at pool level. We had 121 and 122. Perfe...

The staff at this hotel is wonderful. They are so friendly and extremely helpful which is what you want when you are traveling. We had our own private jacuzzi, the room was a great size and clean. would love to go back and stay longer! The buffet breakfast was good and each day they had a little something different. You can sit outside and eat your breakfast while looking at the ocean.

We have had a fantastic time staying at the Epavlis hotel. The hotel rooms were beautiful, the maid service was excellent, the towels changed daily and the rooms cleaned daily. The hard working hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. Definitely want to return and would recommend anyone staying in Kamari to stay at the Epavlis!
