“Immaculate and Efficient and Best Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2010

Stayed at the Santellini for 2 weeks in early July. It's a family owned and run hotel and most efficiently run and cared for. It's spotlessly clean everywhere including an immaculate pool and pool area. The bedrooms are also immaculate. The family are most gracious and welcoming to guests and have a friendly word for each person. The hotel is small so this is possible, as a result there are many return guests who feel at home here.

We had a few issues which are probably personal to us but I'll mention them anyway. Th first was that the bed was very hard, we had twin beds put together and we did find it impossible to get comfortable in them. The owners kindly got us some mattress toppers which did help a little but unfortunately my OH work up with quite bad back ache each morning. It did wear off by mid morning but he got very tired from not sleeping well.
It was quite hot when we were there and the air con is not adjustable in the rooms so we found it a bit hard to settle for that reason also. However that would not be an issue when not visiting in mid-summer.

We were also short of sun loungers as there are 19 in total but 20+ rooms and people were reserving them very early in the morning or the night before. There were a couple of largish family groups there who were reserving them for each other first thing. They are also very close together and there is no room to manouvre them especially as the sun moves overhead and you need some shade. You can hear what everyone is saying as you are all right next to each other around the top end of the pool. You can of course use the beach which is very close and actually much cooler but you do have to pay for sun loungers.
Each room has a fridge which is really handy and rails on the balcony to hang costumes etc to dry. No excuse for towels hanging on the balconies. There is a safe for an additional fee but you can't leave it open for more that a few minutes or you need to reset it. The air con works well and the filters were all removed and cleaned while we were there - not something you see in most hotels, they are usually hardly ever cleaned.

The location couldn't be better, just off the main promenade with all the shops, restaurants and the beach.

The breakfasts are nice in that there is Greek yogurt and honey but I would have liked some fresh fruit which is readily available in the summer or alternatively some dried fruit.
There was water melon or tinned fruit salad some mornings with some cereal and bread. There was also hard boiled eggs and some cold meat and tomato and feta cheese, Greek yogurt and honey with some homemade marmalade also made by a family member. I don't eat the eggs or cold meat or the cereal so was struggling a little bit but I was provided with fruit salad each morning as an alternative, I think most people are quite happy with the breakfasts however.

There is a small bar which is open until 11pm approximately but only used by a few people most of the time.

All in all a very well run and pleasant place but we struggled with the beds and the small pool area and lack of sunbeds, apart from that it's a great place.

Just returned from our first trip to Santorini and stayed at the wonderful Santellini hotel.
The owners could not do enough for you very friendly and helpful. The hotel was in an excellent position for all bars, restaurants, bus and supermarket. The towels and bedding where changed every other day and the girls who did the cleaning did an excellent job cleaned all rooms and all areas every day even the legs on the sunbeds which I have never seen done before. The breakfast had plenty of choice as stated in other reviews. We never had a bad meal out our favourite restaurants were Alexanders, LoLos and Hi Kati Allo which is next door to the Kiwi chinese restaurant.the choice is vast and will have to go back so we can try some more couldnt do them all in 2 weeks. The bus to Thira is a must and also Oia it is only 1.40 per journey no need to hire a car you can get anywhere on the bus from Thira. Went up to Ancient Thira on the mini bus which cost 10 euro but it was worth it wouldnt have liked the walk up that hill in the heat. .

We agree totally with all the reviews already written as that is why we booked this hotel this year. We have had our best holiday ever on a Greek island due to the high standards of the owners of the Santellini. The hotel is always spotless, the pool is excellent and the pool area is also kept extremely clean and tidy. Our room which had an upstairs bedroom was superb with lots of storage space. The fridge we found very useful too. Breakfast is buffet style but very adequate. Fresh fruit is sometimes available and small changes are made each day.
The owners could not be more helpful, friendly and welcoming. In fact we have never stayed anywhere quite like it anywhere in the world. Thanks to them both for making our holiday so special. We hope very much to be able to return to Santorini and the Santellini one day in the future.

what a great hotel this is, all thats great about greece is here plus more, in all the hotels we have stayed in greece this is the cleanest and smartest of all, breakfast buffet was a pleasure on the cool patio area, the pool is big by greek standards and was spotless. The location 50yds to beach ,50yds to main bus stop ,1euro40 gets you to fira, every half hour, Fira is stunning, the Sunset is a must see, a real magical moment. oia is also a must see,
just change bus at fira. there is no need to hire a car on santorini getting about is easy.Kamari has a very nice front, restaurants right along one end to the other, good food and drinks everywhere.the prices were reasonable all round. plenty of upmarket but still plenty of family run tavernas ,the best of these was Andreas Taverna run a close thing with alexanders.
The beach is pebbles and you do really need to get rubber shoes to enjoy the sea. sunbeds and a brolley 6eu a real bargain these days.

We stayed at the Santellini during a wedding and had the hoenymoon maisonette for the duration. We were greeted with a bottle of Santorini wine on arrival and I have to say the maisonette was huge! We had wifi in the room as well which definately helped wedding wise.

It is a gorgeous hotel, incredibley clean and quiet and is in an absolutely perfect location.

Breakfast is as expected in a b&b hotel and it is nice to be able to eat by the poolside.

We would definately come back here and highly recommend it to others planning a holiday to Kamari.Giannis and Leah who run the hotel are very lovely and very helpful and really looked after us, I am glad I booked it direct with the hotel.

My wife and I stayed at this gem of a hotel from 8th to 22nd June 2010. We chose it after reading other reports on this site and were we glad we did.
From the outset we were greeted as friends from Yianni and Leah. They were exceptionally helpful polite and friendly.
The hotel is in an ideal location some 30 yards from the main beach, yet far enough away to dull the aircraft noise as the aeroplanes come in over the beach. Next door is a car hire shop and exchange place. The bus stop to Thira is just around the corner.
The rooms are delightful and spotless. The maid service was second to none and the best i have encountered in travelling to Greece for the past 27 years.
We had new towels every other day and one day i saw the maid cleaning the windows.
The pool area is nice as is the breakfast area which overlooks it.
Breakfast is simple continental style but with a good selection of cereals, juices hams, cheese, toast and yoghurt and honey.
The hotel was frequented by British, Scandinavians and Germans.
The hotel has a bar area overlooking the pool area which has a clean shower/toilet room..
We could not fault this hotel at all and would gladly recommend it to anyone wishing to go to Kamari.

A credit to the owner and staff.

Booked directly with the hotel.Giannis, the owner was helpfull and freindly. On arrival we were upgraded to a mezanine room,a separate bedroom up wooden stairs and a large room below with a sofa bed and good sized bathroom. The rooms were of a high quality, cleaned every day properly, fluffy towels were changed every day.The hotel was spotless and very well maintained and a great deal of attention to detail.Even though the hotel was less than100 yards from the main drag and beach it was pleasantly quiet.Even the low flying aircraft landing and taking off from the nearby airport were NOT annoying ,in fact quite pleasurable as their were not a lot of them.
Giannis was very laid back and friendly and was arround most of the day to help his guests. All the staff were friendly and helpfull.Would i go back to this hotel ??
Deinitely i would ,and if in Santorini i would reccomend you to do the same, you would not regret it
Thanks Giannis for a great stay at your splendid hotel
