After extensive research, my niece and her fiancé chose Santorini as the best location for their Greek wedding. The Boathouse Hotel & associated Almira Restaurant seemed the perfect combination to meet the needs of our very diverse group of family and friends traveling to celebrate the wedding and to accommodate the Wedding Celebration. Our group encompassed early risers and up all nighters, 5 year olds and 60+ year olds, adventurers and relaxers, experimenters and conservatives – The Boathouse met the needs of all. We were thrilled with the ambiance of the hotel and restaurant, the location on the beach, the food and the amazing staff. The variety of clean, well appointed and comfortable rooms provided for families with small children, couples and singles. The quiet of the beach from the pristine pool area was a wonderful way to start the day for the early risers. The complimentary buffet breakfast was always fresh and offered a variety that gave even the pickiest eaters a bountiful meal. The location allowed for beach or boardwalk strolls and direct access to shopping. We explored the island, most days, in our rented vans. From the time that Spyros, the hotel & restaurant owner, met us at the airport to the time we took the ferry to Crete, he and his staff went out of their way to assure that we knew what to see and where we were going. Some days we simply relaxed by the pool in preparation for evening festivities. The beach bar is the perfect venue to imbibe in a favorite Greek drink and listen to Spyros as he weaves stories about the history of the Island and the intricacies of Greek life. The food at Almira Restaurant was excellent. and abundant. There was something for everyone: from the more exotic Greek delicacies to chicken nuggets for the kids and Calzone for the less adventurous. The wedding itself, held at the south end of the beach, near the cliffs, was flawless, made possible through the skill, caring and knowledge of the Boathouse and Almira group. Their hospitality is unparalleled - whatever we asked for, was efficiently provided. A most memorable and remarkable vacation experience. Whether a seasoned traveler or first time adventurer, you will not be sorry that you choose the Boathouse for your Santorini Vacation Yeai Mas.

If you are looking for a great place to stay in Santorini, the Boat House Hotel in Kamari Beach is your best bet. If you are looking for the Ritz, this is not it. BUT, the rooms are a nice size, sparkling clean, have refrigerators, blow dryers, and balconies that overlook different areas of the island. The hotel also has a beautiful terraced pool area with palm trees and a bar. The Boat House is steps away from the beach, three blocks from the bus stop that can take you to different parts of the island (Fira, Oia, Ancient Thira) and about a 10 minute ride to/from the airport. Along the beach front cobblestone walkway there are tons of small restaurants and tavernas which serve breakfast lunch and dinner. There are many small grocery shops within steps from the hotel as well. Most importantly, the owners of the hotel are friendly, speak English -- which is really helpful) and do everything to make your stay comfortable and fun. Diane and Spiros please don't change a thing!

This is a lovely, friendly hotel that is ideally placed on Kamari Beach. It is surrounded by some lovely tavernas, bars and shops but is not noisy. The breakfast is nice, simple buffet style. The room was clean and spacious. The owers Spiros and Dianne are very helpful as is Angie on reception. Their taverna next door but one serves lovely, fresh, good value food.

“Excellent Value and Location”

The Boathouse Hotel

We (husband and wife) stayed at the Boathouse for 4 nights. The room we had was on the second floor facing the Sea. The room was spacious, clean and had a balcony. It contained 1 double bed and 2 singles. Breakfast consisted of hard and soft boiled eggs, juice, jam, hams, cheese, cornflakes, coffee, tea and fruit salad. It did not vary. The pool was good size and clean. The Hotel is well situated on Kamari Beach. The room did not have TV. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the Hotel.

“Loved the Boathouse!!!!”

The Boathouse Hotel

Stayed in Athens a few days then took a ferry to Santorini. Spyros (owner of hotel) picked us up at the port (which is at the bottom of a winding cliff)-- if we hadn't arranged for him to pick us up, i'm not sure how we would have gotten to the hotel. When we arrived at the Boathouse our room wasn't ready but Diane (Spyros' wife) brought us 2 glasses of white wine and we waited by the pool (not so bad!).

Kamari Beach is the less expensive (yet beautiful) part of the island and we loved it. The hotel is situated on a black-sand beach and there are plenty of places to eat/go out on the beach strip. During the day we relaxed by the pool at the Boathouse or at the beach.

Complimentary breakfast was nice - nothing too heavy and it was a great way to start the day. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant one night-- nice setting (and service) but the food wasn't so great.

We also rented a dune buggy (4-wheeled go-cart type vehicle) for 2 days to get around the island and got to see the typical white houses on the cliffs in Ia (the famous part of Santorini). We stuck around one night to watch the sunset-- absolutely beautiful.

We couldn't have wanted more from Santorini!
