“Honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

We’ve just returned from a our honeymoon and spent a wonderful week at the Tamarix del mar in Kamari, Santorini. We were incredibly impressed by both the service and accommodation. On our third morning we were offered a free upgrade to a sister Hotel Avant Garde with transfers for one night’s stay. The views were incredible and the suite was very special. On our return to the Tamarix del mar our suite was also upgraded from a junior suite to a superior suite plus we were given two complimentary bottles of local Greek wine and some fresh fruit. Kamari as a resort was great, it has a good selection of restaurants and boutique gift shops. We also found a lovely massage spa near the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel was really good with an ample selection of foods including freshly made omelettes and pancakes, fresh fruits, cereals, Danish pastries, various cold and hot meats, cheeses, etc… and it runs until 11.30am so you get to enjoy a leisurely morning. We also visited the capital Fira which is a must, the views are something else. My only very small fault if there has to be one is how much I adore children and I do, I was hoping for a childfree holiday which sadly it wasn’t however I would definitely recommend this hotel and resort to anyone who wants but to experience Santorini with a 10/15 airport transfer its stress free although don’t expect too much duty free at Thira’s tiny airport.

My wife and i arrived in Santorini on the 25th of june our first holiday together without the children.
Everything was perfect the transfer to the Tamarix was by mini bus by ourselves this took 15 minutes,on our arrival we were greeted by Georgia a great host who made our stay special.
We were offered a welcome soft drink of our chioce by George the barman.
The room we were given was great it was 102 on the ground floor a junior suite i think.
On our first morning we were offered a free upgrade to a sister Hotel Avant Garde with transfers and a bottle of Champagne!
On our arrival we were stunned by the views, the room everything was out of this world we were greeted with a complimentary ice cold bottle of Santorini wine.
This place was so relaxing my wife and i went it to a dream world for 2 nights the local restaraunts in Akrotiri served Fantastic food.
On our last day here we were offered a move to another room to vacate the room we were in for other guests but we chose to return to Tamarix, after my wife had a Thai massage again this was the best!
On our return Georgia offered us another upgrade to an executive suite with 2 bedrooms a balcony a jacuzzi a spa bath!.
The breakfast was everything you need with something different on offer every day,the food and drinks were a good price and good quality, the guests were a mixture of English,German,Italian,Norwegian, of various ages not many children,a very nice atmosphere.
We dined at the local restaraunts and the food was excellent,Zorbas was my favourite, some of the best food and wine we have ever tasted.
It was my wife's Birthday during our stay and we returned to our room one night to find an ice cold bottle of wine.
To sum up this hotel and all the staff it was the PERFECT HOLIDAY for us we could not fault this place at all and we will be booking to return next year.

My wife and I have just returned from a really wonderful holiday in the Tamarix Del Mar.(15.06.13 - 29.06.13).
From arriving on the Saturday late evening to leaving two weeks later the atmosphere, friendliness of the staff with their nothing is too much trouble attitude towards you makes you feel really welcome.
We asked for a double bed first floor room and got exactly that. There was also another floor above the four poster bed with two single beds (room 205) the only thing it did not have was a separate jacuzzi, but we did not request one so we did not mind.
The hotel itself is ideally situated for everything but is just far enough away to avoid any rowdiness and noise in the evenings.
The breakfast are very good with ample choice of anything you could wish for and are available until 11.30 am.
It is definitely a hotel for couples but there were some families there during our stay.
The bar prices and the food are cheaper than most places in the resort and the extra bonus of having George the friendly barman to looking after you.
The hotel is well maintained and provides everything you need to make your holiday perfect.
A special mention to Georgia and Caterina on reception both were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.
We would definitely return to this paradise found.

Following all the fantastic reviews we had read we decided to book Tamerix Del Mare for our wedding stay. It sounded as if it had everything we needed for our big day therefore we hadn't minded splashing out the extra cash.
It was a nice hotel, staff where very friendly, room was spacious and location was excellent.
Many guests where upgraded upon arrival, we where offered a stay in the sister hotel for two days, however this would mean we had to pack all our belongings and change rooms upon our return. We felt this was a nice gesture but never accepted as it was three nights before the wedding and we had family with us who we where spending time with leading up to our wedding.
We stayed in room 208, the TV and DVD player did not work - not very helpful when you are eager to watch your wedding dvd. The computer in the reception area was also broke so we couldn't view our wedding photographs either. The "gym" consisted of a broken treadmill which my husband fell off but was very luckily not injured. We where awoken most nights in the early hours by the constant noise of Jacuzzis echoing around our room. Breakfast was nice, however tables where always full of used plates etc.
Nice hotel but certainly not worth all the fuss or the extra cash!!!

My mother and I had a fantastic one week stay with Tamarix del Mar and are hoping to return next year. We had an apartment style room with seperate living area and private balcony (with hot tub and sun loungers). The room was also equipped with a small kitchenette. It's a small, more intimate hotel which made it lovely and peaceful. The hotel itself is beatifully maintained with alot of attention to detail. The pool side food/drinks are well priced and tasty.

The location is PERFECT being on the main street of one of the nicest areas in Santorini (Kamari). On our bus journey to the hotel, we realised the vast number of hotels which are randomly built over the island in remote loctions which made us really appreciate the perfect location of tamarix. There are lots of good (and cheap) restaurants on the same road and the beach only a five minute walk away with lots of shops/bars etc on the promenade. It is also a two minute walk to the local bus station so you can easiley see the rest of the island!

The staff we're all fantastic, especially the breakfast staff which always went the extra mile. On returning home, I realised I had left my hair straighteners there by accident and they even posted them home for me!

My only complaint was they did ask us to move room/hotel at one point, but we said we didn't want to move and they didn't take it any futher/treat us any differently for not moving. This is literally the only bad point and didn't affect our stay as we really enjoyed ourselves the entire stay. Overall, we can't wait to return and want to thank all the staff there for such an enjoyable holiday.

Just got back from a lovely, quiet, very sunny, relaxing week at the Tamarix. Over the years I've stayed in numerous apartments, suites and hotels, both in Europe and farther afield, and I can honestly say that these suites compare with any we have stayed in, at this price level (not cheap but not silly money either). Others have commented about the room size, cleanliness, individuality and spa baths, and I can only endorse their first class views. What really adds to the pleasure of staying at the Tamarix is the friendly and extremely helpful staff, nothing is too much trouble. You can expect a warm welcome from the staff at breakfast, George (behind the bar), Katrina (reception), through to the girls who clean the rooms. We were also lucky with the other guests, in as much that we made some good friends and had a great laugh. I suppose to just balance the view, this is not a hotel for those who want to party, it is very quite and is definitely aimed at couples, not families. There is a fair amount of movement of guests, for a few days at a time, with the sister hotel on the other side of the island. This appears to be by choice, but as all of the Tamarix rooms are always full, I believe, as suggested by others, that there is an element of multiple bookings knowing that some guests will always like a different experience whilst away. We were offered a move for the last night but politely declined. Some nationalities do get up early to put towels on the beds, with shades nearest the pool, which is a bit annoying, but maybe expected. All in all, we could not have asked for a better holiday or location.
