“great accomodation, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2009

My partner and i stayed for one week this sept.

upon arrival upgraded to junior delux room, free of charge. We had our own stairs leading to private roof top terrace, that had table chairs and two sunbeds on! 1 large pool, 2 smaller pools to choose from, free towels, plenty of sunbeds. buffet breakfast was fantastic, loads to choose from, all fresh, kept well stocked up. Nice tables, sitting by the pool, never felt hurried by lovely staff. really pleased we chose to pay extra and stay at Kastelli resort.

located 200 metes walk to lovely black beach, with loads sunbeds, parasols etc. lots of supermarkets, gift shops, places to hire cars, internet access, cashpoint avaliable. plenty of places to eat and drink. food reasonable between 30 & 50 Euros for evening meal, drinks bit pricey, 3.50 for beer, 5.00 for cocktail (happy hour)

all in all fab hotel, great location, kamari is a lovely place for a relaxing holiday. really easy to get around island on cheap local bus service (thira 15 mins on bus 1.40 euro one way) then you can get to oia etc from thira.

We stayed here for our honeymoon in August 2009 and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the buildings and gardens were very well maintained. We especially loved the choice of pools and the breakfast was outstanding. We were so full we often didnt eat until teatime again with the amount of variety of food available! It is tastefully decorated and the location is good-just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the beachside restaurants but not out of walking distance. Great place we would definitely come back. One thing though, its probably better suited to couples, there were certainly no groups of young people or even families, but thats more to do with Santorini as a destination than the actual hotel.

The hotel was perfect in every way... location, staff, cleanliness, everything....
The first thing me and my husband noticed was the fact that all staff were friendly and helpful. In particular I must say that Maria (morning receptionist) was extremely nice and she offered lots of tips and advice re places to visit etc. The rest of the staff were very corteous and nice. The location of the hotel is very convenient as it's just 2 mins walk from the beach and loads of restaurants. The room was clean and quite spacious.
All in all I would recommend this hotel as it made our honeymoon perfect !!

Really, really bad - I can't express how truly awful this place was. Staff were sullen and sulky and not all helpful, food was terrible, service was non -existent, room was terrible, we asked to be shown other rooms and they were even worse so we had to stay in our original room, the room and battered bathroom stank of sewage and had a colony of ants that had moved in and where not leaving, at least they didn’t have to pay - everything that you wanted to do was extra, gym - extra, hot tub - extra - I surprised they didn't charge for the sunshine.

For some odd reason the swimming pool water was freezing - ice cold, numbing, head ache inducing cold and the grass around the pool was at least a foot high.

If you want a 5 star hotel DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL because it is million miles away from 5 stars

We stayed at this hotel in Aug 09. The original room was like a dungeon and had no privacy at all-avoid room 102. The new room which was a superior room was better but Greece's 5 star hotels are not really 5 star. We had a cat and 5 gorgeous kittens for company all week outside but I would not go back to santorini until they sort out their animal welfare, who wants to stay in a place where they routinely poison the numerous strays at the end of the season rather than doing something to prevent the strays increasing. The hotel is lovely and the breakfast from 8-12 is fab. The staff are lovely although the manger did not want to move us and gave away our new room until I demanded she at least show me the new room. I would recommend this hotel but only if you do your homework and can pay for the better rooms. There were quite a few other guests who were also very upset at the room they got. kamari itself has 95 restaurants and is lovely. The beach is pebbles but you don't need a beach with all the pools at the hotel and don't do half board or you'll miss the great choice of restaurants. Would recommend seeing Thira and Ioa and excursions are reasonably priced. if you are an animal lover, don't bother or like me, you'll be feeling guilty all week and since returning.

Hotel facilities, room and location cannot be faulted. We booked half board and were however most disappointed with the very limited choice and quality of food on offer, i would strongly recommend bed and breakfast only as there is a huge choice of quality and reasonably priced restaurants in nearby Kamari. Drinks in hotel were very expensive and restaurant only offered Greek wine which was also very expensive.

I would have given the hotel a higher rating had it not been for the terrible restaurant. Given that the hotel is in the luxury category i would have expected alot more.

Interesting location to be a leading hotel. Short walk to beach through back alleys. No private spot on the beach like other hotels had.

No taxi service --- only minibuses.

Many rooms have stairs.

OK buffet for breakfast.

Small private pool by suite needed to be cleaned more often.

Large pool nice, but why sit at an inland pool on a beautiful Greek Island.

Advise: stay at a hotel with a view of the sunset and travel to different beaches rather than stay at beach and travel to sunset.
