“Overall great family holiday - only 2 grumbles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Travelled here with my husband and out 17 month old son. Yes, the rooms are a bit tired but they had everything we needed (with the addition of a sweeping brush which kept our son entertained for hours). Our view was onto other apartments, and it was fairly quiet were we were (block 1, just past the pirate ship pool), although we could hear the evening entertainment, though luckily it didn't disturb us too much.
The pools were lovely and clean, it was fairly quiet so always easy to get a sunbed. Pirate ship pool was excellent for children, with slides etc.
Check in was easy and informative, and yes we did have to pay the 28 euros for the cot, but this was no shock after reading reviews on here.
Food was excellent, lots of choice, lovely seafood, lots of desserts etc.
Our son enjoyed the sandy park, next to the kids club, which was a nice retreat from being in the pool etc. He went to one of the kids club activities which was tshirt painting and they were happy for him to be involved even though he was so young, as long as I helped out, which was no problem. The staff, particularly Natalia, had lots of time for the children.
The evening entertainment - we only stayed for the children's disco a couple of times, due to our son's age and needing to get him off to bed - the children absolutely loved it, though I can imagine it grating on parents who sit through it for a full week.
Only grumbles were firstly that there was no lift and we were on first floor - bit of a pain when you have a pushchair, but we managed. Secondly, the evening meal in the restaurant doesn't start until 7pm, which I felt was a bit late for those with very young children, but we managed to re-set our son's routine to fit in with this.
Good hotel, very family friendly, excellent food. 10 minute walk from marina (which is literally the only thing to see in this very quiet resort, as you will discover if you do the train ride), 15 minute walk from beach, which was very nice.

Room Tip: If you want quiet then go for one as far from the main pool as possible, as that is right next to th...

We had previously stayed at the Casa del Lago Apartments and loved loved loved it, but now with a one year old and a three year old, was lured in by the 'family friendly' Viva Menorca. Rooms were OK - I read that no bowls were provided for self catering, so came prepared! We had an issue with ants, which apparently many rooms did. It was not due to food left out - they were crawling in from rotting sealant in the bedroom. My daughter woke with red bites all over her legs and ants crawling on her face! The reception sort of shrugged and were unapologetic - but the cleaners did a great job of cleaning the room and arranged for the sealant to be fixed. I tried to prepare a pasta meal, only to find out too late that one hot plate didn't work. Again, they remedied quickly. The light in the bedroom didn't work at all. Again, fixed. OK, I have never been all-inclusive - and we thought we'd try the restaurant one night. It's a buffet and if buffets are your thing, great. They aren't mine. I thought it was uninspiring and didn't find anything appealing, so had a very expensive bread roll and side salad! The kids club was good on rainy mornings and the staff there were very good at what they do - and I respect their long hours (12 hour shifts!). The marina is nearby, but we found the food in the restaurants was pretty average for the price. What made the trip worthwhile for us as a family was the beach - it is simply beautiful, albeit very busy. It is only 15 min walk, but is hard when you have a one year old and a three year old, sunshades, towels, pushchair etc. especially when you have to walk over the bridge. I would def recommend a hotel closer if you're going to Cala N Bosch for the beach (not that all do - some children in the hotel stayed in the pool the entire week). It was a very nice break - but I wasn't overwhelmed by the hotel. I was impressed by the hardworking staff, but it seemed that the rooms weren't given the attention they need in between bookings - hence our problems, which was annoying. But I think it's just me - Cala N Bosch felt very much like Britain By Sea, and I was hoping for a bit of Spanish culture. After all, most people love their holiday here!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room - they actually listen to and action emails sent ahead of arrival.

Very pleased with the staff and their organisation. They all worked incredibly hard, always friendly and helpful. There was however lack of athomosphere. We assumed the evening entertainment would be much better and we hoped to get involved with adult activities but they never seemed to arrange anything although, they were scheduled on the timetable in reception?! Maybe during the busy holiday season it was more exciting?! The food was fantastic, the pool side snack bar in particular. It was fresh and served very quickly, hats off to the chefs and waiters! The rooms were very clean albeit a bit tired looking and there was a slight ant problem but you are abroad! The views wern't anything exciting to be honest. My inlaws had the main road! As for location, it was ok; a treck to the beach especially with our two small children. The best route was over the bridge quite unsuitable for pushchairs (very unsuitable for wheelchairs) The harbour was nice, good food however, quite pricey. I wouldn't recommend a SC holiday!

Very friendly greeting at reception set the tone for an enjoyable week. We stayed 20th of sept. Found all the staff cheerful and polite. This is a family hotel but as we were slightly out of season all the kids were pre school age. The comments about the décor of the rooms we found misleading. Rooms are absolutely fine and have everything for a great stay. Daily maid service, towels and bedding regularly changed, the place was spotless. The only mess we saw were parents indulging children and allowing them to throw food on the floor, which the adults happily walked away from leaving staff to clean up. Come on people is that a good example to set? Food at the hotel is magnificent, superb choice and very friendly efficient waiting staff. The snack bar at the pool offered a full menu to choose from, tapas to pasta, starters, dessert all included. This hotel really offers value for money and does not scrimp on the food and drink. Would we go again? 100% well done Viva Menorca your hard work shows

Room Tip: the complex is split by a road, if u want a pretty view ask for a room overlooking the main pool are...

If you have never stayed in a Viva hotel before then I can understand the great reviews, however I have been many times to Viva hotels in Majorca and I can honestly say this one is def a poor relation. The atmosphere in & around the main reception is non existant, the facilities less abundant, adult entertainment such as archery/shooting etc didnt take place, rooms very tired and a lot had very poor views. We were in block 2 with a view of wasteland, not that it would have mattered as you could not sit out on the balcony due to severe gales all day long and it never got the sun at any time of day. It really isnt on a par with its other viva hotels. Having said that it was very clean and the staff very pleasant, more suited for families with primary school aged children as not only Viva but Menorca itself isnt for teenagers .

A relaxing family holiday, stayed all inclusive for the 1st time but would recommend it. Food was great, breakfast, lunch and dinner, lots of choice and the snack bar provided much more than the expected burger and chips.
Kids pool was a hit with our 6 year old and all the staff were very helpful and friendly.

First time in Cala'n Bosch but fourth time in Menorca. Had a great week, returning on 21/09 - however mixed feelings about Viva Menorca. No question that it's a hotel geared up to cater for families with small children and yes, good food and good staff. I have been to better hotels in terms of quality of room ( we booked a 'select' one bedroom apartment ) but really saw no benefit compared to the cheaper price of a standard one bedroom. Couldn't fault the cleaning but as in previous reviews the rooms do look a bit 'weary' and not just because it was the end of season. We also went self catering which proved to be a really expensive option when purchasing drinks on site (approx. 8 euro for a Fanta and a coke at the poolside bar).
Location was really handy for walking to Marina where there's a great selection of bars and restaurants and ofcourse Cituedella is only a short a bus ride away.
Would I return to Viva Menorca - probably not as it didn't tick all of the boxes for us. Would I recommend it - absolutely, I can see how young families on an all inclusive option would have a ball!
