“Valentin Star first visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

What a wonderful hotel. Everywhere was kept so clean and the bedrooms especially. Wasn't expecting a fridge. The staff were the friendliest we have ever experienced on a holiday and made all the difference. The staff in the restaurant were always so happy and smiling and would always try and seat you where you wanted - especially nice eating outside overlooking the harbour. The food was also the best we have ever experienced and the choice was amazing. We hired a car and spent most days travelling around lazing about on the beautiful beaches which are so safe for children. If there was a downside to mention it would be the towels on the sunbeds first thing in the morning and nobody using them for several hours - why oh why do people do this? Would definitely recommend Menorca and especially Cala en Bosch.

Room Tip: You do have to pay extra for a pool view but the other rooms are just as nice. Harbour view rooms m...

Wanted a nice relaxing holiday and we got it. Right from the start when our cases were delivered to our room by staff we knew we would be looked after. The room was very spacious and always cleaned to a high standard the pool and surrounding areas also kept very clean. The food as far as we are concerned was presented superbly and tasted as good as it looked.
All the staff treated us like royalty and was always up for a laugh to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. The entertainment both during the day and night was very good thanks to Stefan who was a laugh all the time and Kinga who supported him very well.
We are a couple in our early 50's but the good cross section of ages ensured we met people from all backgrounds and this enforced just how relaxed everyone was. As expected the drinks at the bar were a little steep but i am more than happy to pay the extra to ensure the quality of holiday continues.
A big thank you to all the staff of the Valentin Star and we hope to see you all again very soon.

Stayed b/w 15th & 22nd July try and go self catering or B/B as have in the past not rated food in other hotels we have stayed in. The food was very good both at breakfast and evening meal with lots of choices and in our opinion was of a reasonable standard. The staff really made you feel welcome. We noticed many Spanish couples staying at the hotel. Speaking to local people they said many Spanish people took their holidays during July/Aug and came over to Menorca so Spanish tour operators are obviously using hotel which is a good recommendation? We were not really fussed about our room but many people were and wanted a pool view. Our room was 191 which was a g/f room at the back of hotel. It would have looked onto Marina but for the shrub type mesh that blocked the view but gave you total privacy. It was nice coming back to the room late afternoon after a day out or around the pool and being able to sit out in the sun in total privacy. Room safe 3 Euros per day. Pint 4.40 G&T 6.60 Pint Diet Coke 4.40. Entertainment good both in evening and day. Went to welcome meeting with T Cook and Rep Scott. I was shocked how he spoke to some of the guests with a total lack of dignity & respect. They were customers!

The room was quiet, spacious and very clean, large and comfortable bed. Quite new and very practical furniture. Perfect air conditioner without any noise. Spacious and very clean bathroom too with music from 7.30am to 12pm.
Professional and polite staff from the page to the director.
Breakfast and dinner were always delicious, rich and very various. Nice swimming-pool with hydromassage. Volley ball, body balance. Evening entertainment with excellent singers, dance. Perfect location, closed to the most beautiful beaches. We'll definitively return to the Valentin Star (only adults).

Room Tip: Avoid rooms with view to bars and restaurants

The average age at this hotel is prob 50. rooms are clean, staff friendly, food at breakfast good, evening food not so good, pool lovely, not enough beds and even less umbrellas. the hotel tells you not to put towels on pool beds but everyone does, safe is 3 euros per day.short walk to clean beach.

Room Tip: pool view the best, harbour view next first floor better view than ground.

The Valentin Star hotel is in a good location. Not only is it directly on the marina and very close to the beach, it is also in easy reach of Cuidedella, a beautiful town that provides a good shopping, cafe and restaurant experience. We used the very reliable local bus service no. 65 to get to the town. It takes about 15 to 20mins. Buses are air conditioned and very comfortable. It costs 1.95E. Catch the bus directly outside the pharmacy. You will see that it goes in a bit of loop and comes back to the pharmacy - it won't pick you up on the opposite side of the road - you have to do the loop unless you walk through the marina to the beach area bus stop.
The marina is pleasant to walk around. There are a few supermarkets and a couple of other shops selling shoes and sports clothes. If you like to look at stock aimed directly at the tourist market these shops will please. If you want something different go to the town where you will find hand made jewellery, art galleries, good quality clothes and lots of Menorcan shoes.
We didn't use the beach on this particular holiday simply because the pool at the Valentin Star is very hard to move away from. The water is warmed by the huge shallow end that is in the sun all day. Guests "wallow" in the shallow end, reading whilst lying in the water or just lazing. A little further on is the jacuzzi section with lots of bubbles and then a good sized deeper end if you want to swim a bit more seriously. Sunbeds are plentiful and comfortable. Occasionally guests get a little territorial about reserving sunbeds but this is totally unnecessary as staff will always find and move sunbeds when asked. The pool bar has a good menu and portions are big. Just ask for 2 plates if you want to share!
Accommodation is good with spacious rooms, very comfortable beds, very efficient air con plus ceiling fan and a good sized balcony. Pool view rooms are definitely worth paying for. Consider the first floor facing reception. These rooms get the sun in the morning and towels etc dry very easily. By the afternoon the balcony is shaded - lovely to come into and sit and watch the last of the pool activity for the day. Cleaning is excellent so bathrooms and bedroom area are really comfortable. There is plenty of storage both shelves and hanging space.
We had a very pleasant week at this hotel - a second visit for me - and would book again without hesitation.
