“simple but lovely holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2010

We stayed at Villa Jordi at the beginning of July for 2 weeks. It's in a nice quiet location surrounded by similar type villa's. They are enclosed and private and the pool area is fantastic. The Villa itself was a bit basic but well equipped. The only issue was that it smelt a bit musty but probably hadn't been opened up for a few weeks. We had issues with poor/non existent water pressure to both showers that wasn't resolved despite reporting it to the Agent. The Kettle didn't work but was quickly replaced but one issue that caused a problem was the really poor TV reception ( it was the world cup fortnight). For some reason the main UK Channels lose reception after 6 pm. It didn't spoil things but was a pain. However we had a great time-you do need a car for the Supermarket and trips etc but a few bars and restaurants are nearby although the fact that all Hotels nearby seem to be going All Inclusive is killing business in some places which is a shame. Cala N Bosch is an easy 10-15 min walk but the Villa has its own built in BBQ to make staying in to eat much easier.

All in all a great time and Villa-just don't expect the lap of luxury but at the price you pay for booking direct well worth it.

We also had a fantastic time staying in the Calan Bosch villas. We booked Villas Azucena and Camelia together as we were a large family travelling together.

It was absolutely perfect, and the gardens and pool were very well maintained.

We booked direct with the owner on www.holidayvillasmenorca.co.uk (almost halving the price compared to booking with the agents) .

we also hired cars and were able to get out and about and visit the island and the other resorts - very well worth it. If you have kids I would recommend going to Calan Forcat, everywhere you go caters for children. The restaurants Bianco and Haiti in the center of the resort were very very good.

The waterpark in Calan Forcat is slightly smaller than the Bosch one, but still good for young children. If you go after lunch time, you get in half price.

Plaza Domingo next to Calan Forcat waterpark is also definitely worth a visit. Kids kept entertained and great shows - ALL FREE, why I dont know?? but Im not complaining!

  • Liked — the villa and the price and the friendly service in resort
  • Disliked — having to leave it after the two weeks

I booked Cala n Bosch Villas on the internet and was alarmed at the lack of information and reviews, so having just come back from a week there decided I had to post my own.

We were allocated Villa Magnolia and were pleasantly surprised to discover a three-bedroom, two-bathroom villa complete with washing machine, barbecue, terrace and private pool. There were four of us in the party but the villa could easily have accommodated six, or eight, people. The pool was fantastic and was consantly filtered to keep it clean - we even had an on-site gardener who visited to ask if we wanted our grass cutting!

Villa Magnolia is located within the Cala n Bosch Villas area, about 5-10 mins' walk from a small commercial centre with about 3 bars and 2 restaurants. These are ok, but the choice is pretty limited and we actually weren't that impressed with one of the restaurants, La Oca, so we went to the marina a few times. This is really the hub of the nightlife in Cala n Bosch and is walkable in about 15-20 mins. A taxi cost about 7-8 euros (which is ok for 4 of you). Also, the bus stop for Citadella is 5 mins away and well worth a day out - cost is 1.75 euros and the buses are great.

Cala n Bosch is lovely but the villa is definitely what made the holiday. We particularly loved the size and location of the villa, as well as the fact that the terrace and gardens were completely private - we were blocked from view from the road and next door by hedges all the way round and so felt completely secure. The pool was pretty cold but much bigger than we expected and not too deep - about 5'8" at its deepest point. It was a real effort to drag ourselves out!

A couple of words of warning though - we absolutely loved our villa and would recommend it to anyone, however when you book you don't know which villa you are going to be allocated. Some people staying in Villa Miguel had no fridge door and some villas looked smaller/less private from the outside, so you do have to be aware. There is also no information provided on the villa, the resort or the area and with no reception to report to you need to make sure you take your phone numbers with you.

Watch out for the ants, which seem to take over any part of the villa if you leave food or rubbish out! There is a spray provided which will kill them but they will come back!

Apart from that couldn't fault the villa at all and we would definitely go back.

  • Liked — The private swimming pool
  • Disliked — The towels (not the best and not cleaned very well) and the ants
