“Our 1st Christmas at the Costa Caleta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

Arrived on the 22nd December until 5th January, as we have stayed at The Costa Caleta many times before we received our usual warm welcome. We are sorry to see a great receptionist has left the hotel (Chris) he was a mine of information, anything we needed to know we'd ask Chris. Luckily our Drina's still there who too is a mine of information, and would do anything to help. We think Drina should be made Hotel Manager as she knows more than enough to do the job and we're sure she wouldn't let some of the staff treat the customers the way some of them do. The rest of the reception staff are also very efficient and friendly. The Hotel itself is very clean and the rooms are also very clean and comfortable. We were unfortunatley very disappointed with the bar staff this time, it seemed too much trouble for them to smile and found one barman (Omar) to be very rude and unhelpful, it may be because the bar manager is too busy trying to run the restaurant. In our eyes the restaurant staff are more than capable of doing their jobs without the help of the bar manager (Nanny). Obviously Nanny has not tried the soft drinks as 90% of them are undrinkable, totally different to when we came in June 2012. The food in the restaurant is of an ok standard but is too repetitive, onion rings every night for 2 weeks can get a bit too much. For someone staying at the Caleta for the first time would probably think it acceptable but as we've seen what it was a year and a half ago its a poor effort. Overall we love this hotel its like a cumfy pair of slippers, getting a bit worn and in need of some tlc. PLEASE GET A NEW MANAGER AND SORT IT OUT BECAUSE IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE HOLIDAY BROCHURES.....

Room Tip: If you want a double bed ring and ask for one, or you will more than likely get twin beds.

hotel spotless, food very good standard would return again no problem we went on the 2nd jan-9th and my only complaint was that the jaccuzzi was freezing and the pool not heated. also they charge you to watch english channels on the very small tv in the bedroom but if your looking for a good value for money hotel then look no further.

We spent Christmas in this hotel.
It was busy as to be expected for Christmas, however the hotel staff coped very well with Christmas Dinner on the evening with two sittings.
The food was to a very good standard and had a very good choice every meal time.
They served proper sausages for breakfastand that has been the first time I have known that when been abroad.
The staff were very helpful and friendly even with so many guests in the hotel.
The only downside to the holiday was the beer on the all inclusive, it was not nice to drink and very gassy, so we spent most evenings outside to hotel when we went for a drink.
We would consider coming back to this hotel again next year.

Just returned from one week holiday (2nd to 9th Jan) all inclusive. We usually go 4* plus and were pleasantly surprised at the standard of this hotel. As previously stated the rooms were very clean, the service was excellent and the food was ok. Maintenance guys were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble and very prompt. Reception staff were so helpful and the room cleaners were very friendly and helpful too. All 4* plus. The food was the only thing that said 3*. Adequate but not top rate. A change to the soft drinks is needed, the only drink that was palitable was the lemon and lime, and the 'juices' at breakfast tasted like poor squash. We found something nice to eat each meal time, albeit a little repetitive. It only needs a little extra to make this hotel top notch. For what we paid excellent value

Room Tip: We had a family room ( 2 rooms with interconnecting doors) top floor overlooking the pool area, grea...

all the staff were very helpfull and exceptionally friendly, room was very good, allthough we asked for change of room as we wanted one with afternoon sun, came back at 2pm given room with afternoon sun (no problem - no headache), very good selection of food, bar in day and at night very good (plastic glasses) no problem we were on holiday, very nice to have hotel in centre of caleta plenty of shops and a chemist, we did not like the first beach out of hotel, but a very nice easy walk along the front takes you to 3 very nice smaller beaches,we are planning to go back.

Room Tip: keep checking prices of flights and hotel as you can get a reall bargain, ask for room with afternoo...

Our party of 4 in our 40,s got a last minute deal to this hotel from 23.11.12 - 30.11.12.
We didnt know what to expect from reviews, but got to say, what a great stay ,
We had a room overlooking the pool which had plenty of light , large and and very clean, one of the mattresses was quite old , which after reporting it was exchanged very quickly,
The staff worked extremely hard were pleasant, and found them very helpful.
Food was good overall some days better than others, breakfast being the best , don't miss out !
Drinks were quite good especially the beer, all spirits were local brand none of us ever had a headache in the morning! mixers are all a little sweet so we bought our own diet coke,
One down side the main pool was freezing, too cold to swim in well at least in November
The smaller pool was heated we swam in there before dinner,

There was entertainment most nights with bingo and play your cards right!
Although A.I.venture out of the hotel there are plenty of pubs restaurants and entertainment just a short walk away, well worth going to.

Caleta is great if you like to walk which we do, or bike easy and cheap to hire.
The main beach a few mins walk, is large with beds and umbrellas a cost of Euro 6 per day,
The bus service is quite good if you want to visit other parts of the Island on your own and cheap.

The weather was a bit mixed when we were there, overcast and a little rain, locals said it hadn't been like that in years, just our luck, we got 3 days sun out of 7, we thought it was a little chilly at nights until we got back to uk.....
All in all we would definitely go back a lovely place and a good cheap hotel with lovely staff.
