“Food not even 2*-lack of service-lack of sun on your terrace!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

Previously stayed AI in March so our room was upgraded to a "much, much better room". The suite was the same but was one of only a few where the sun reached your terrace, so badly is the complex designed. The food was dreadful as well as cold, but this was no wonder when the chef was still putting out the cold trays of previously hot food 20 minutes after lunch began, with guests waiting for fresh food to be cooked by the same chef! Another time the waiter had to be asked to find the chef to cook fresh eggs at breakfast. At times there were more staff eating in the restaurant than guests who preferred to eat a toasted sandwich & chips from the pool bar as this was served fresh & hot. Food was left uncovered on trays at the pool bar with flies all over them. Apart from drinks we might as well have been self-catering as the food was that bad. The suite was cleaned daily but the complex design is unable to cope with rain, resulting in guests having to walk on wet slippery floors and get soaking wet just to escape from their room. The hotel is right by an unmade beach but the only way to get a sun tan is on the sun terraces as the main pool area does not get the sun until late afternoon. Unlikely to return to hotel.

Room Tip: Worth paying extra for a sea front suite

The complex is modern and right on the beach. That's the positive stuff. Food is mainly tinned, old, dragged out at every meal. Room fine at the start although sofa bed dirty and stained, but luckily we didn't need it. Some staf are very helpful - others extrtemely rude. Topped off by the maid stealing our belongins on the last day...when we complained we were told we should have left earlier!!! Checkout was at 12, we were leaving at 10, having missed our transfer as despite repeated requests we were told there was no fax from the tour operator - then 10 mins before the bus arrived, we were passed the fax that arrived the day before (afer asking yet again!!!) We tried to retrieve the stolen bag and other belongings, some were tucked away, others in the cleaners bin bag, yet others on her trolley (toiletries, drinks, food...whatever she had fancied she kept, the rest was binned!) As I complained someone else told me (2nd day in, no electricity in her room) what a bad time they were having...we were also locked out of our room 3 times - twice the day before departure and again on the day of departure, whilst our belongings were stolen from the room!!! We finally got a taxi at 10.15am - still almost 2 hrs before checkout...we made our flight as this 'hotel's close to the airport ...
Really, just don't go there!

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

We have been to Caleta de Fuste once before and decided to come again as it suited us, being a quiet location.
We started off at the Blue Sea Club Coleta Dorada Resort dut due to our dislike of cockroaches (see review on Trip Advisor) we moved to the Geranios Suites.
This is a good quality hotel and upon entering our room we were impressed. Everthing about it was first class. Extemely clean, Comfortable sitting and dining area, small but well appointed kitchen, fantastic bathroom and large bedroom with terrace overlooking one of the pools and views of the sea.
Room was serviced every day and clean towels left.
The food was good and seemed to get better as the week went by.
Staff are friendly and speak fluent English.
Some reviewers found the hotel souless and you can get this impression in the large open spaces on the ground floor but it did'nt bother us.
The hotel was only about a third full so there were no queues at mealtime or for the bars.
The pool was hardly used and we had the choice of sunbeds.
The beach is 5 mins walk along the coast footpath and the Town about 10 mins.
We had a great holiday and would definitely stay here again.
Well worth the 4* rating.

We stayed at the Geranios for one week 27th Oct to 3rd Nov having booked a junior suite and all inclusive.
The positives of our stay were as follows:

Junior Suite absolutely lovely, gorgeous sea view as requested, clean and quiet.
Arrived after 10pm and had available a very acceptable beef salad with fresh bread and any drinks we would prefer.
Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times.
Request for extra pillows was dealt with immediately.
Room was cleaned thoroughly every day.
Food was plentiful, of an acceptable standard and with lots of choice.
Pool area was large with very comfortable sun loungers.
Balcony area was huge and had better than average furniture.

Now for the negatives (sorry)

When we arrived at our suite (approx 10.45pm) despite having a fridge and mini bar there was no bottled water nor the means to purchase any.
Despite the food being perfectly acceptable in quality and quantity it was more often than not tepid (there is a microwave provided however)
Although we are both in our 40's we would have enjoyed some form of entertainment on an evening - there was none and we had to walk into Caleta de Fuste to find any (which rather makes all inclusive a non-sense)
During our stay the hotel was virtually empty, possibly a sign of the times! but as it is huge it did make it feel very soulless and unwelcoming.
There was nothing in the suite to tell us of the surrounding area, things to do, or places to go. Nor what might be going on in the hotel.

So i guess you have to weigh up the positives with the negatives. Personally we would not go again to this hotel as by the end of the week we were ready to come home mainly due to the lack of 'personality', entertainment and the general feel of the place. I hope that helps.

Room Tip: Definately choose a sea-view it's worth the extra! We stayed in 335

Seven women-All inclusive-4 nights. 20th Oct' 12.
We paid a lot of money for this visit. Our flight was delayed by one hour, So we arrived shortly after 9-30 pm. We were told the kitchen had closed and we could not get any food. But The receptionist could direct us to a local cafe where we could buy something " All inclusive eh". Anyway we checked in and headed off to Our rooms, The lift did not work and continually broke down during our stay. So we dragged cases up the stairs. The junior suite was nice enough and clean enough. We were 3 women sharing, a zed bed had been provided for the third....To my way of thinking a supposed 5 star hotel should not use zed beds!!! The actual building was massive ugly and soul-less. There were no tea or coffee trays in rooms, no plug in bath, a broken cork screw, one glass for 3 people in bathroom, never enough towels it just goes on. The food hall...cannot call this place a restaurant. Dull uninspiring. The food was basic and unchanging. We had hoped to each day take a picnic away with us. That was disgusting to say the least. 7 picnics in the bin and we actually bought food out for lunch. No entertainment at all one dark and dull bar serving nasty wines and cheap local stuff. The only thing to save this place is it has a beautiful pool. The staff are friendly. One young lady on the bar Alexander I think her name is, was lovely. Would I stay here again? A big fat no. over rated over priced Ugly Hotel.

We stayed in Villa 151 which was faultless & as expected. Immaculately clean and as described with a beautiful private pool and sun loungers. Laura on reception couldn't be any more helpful and friendly. We loved the place and are going back in December for a long weekend. Take other people's view with a pinch of salt and try the Geranios Suites for yourself and you won't be disappointed. A & C. Any questions please don't hesitate to email for an unbiased reply.

Having just returned from a two week stay at the Geranios we feel standards have slipped. We have stayed here on numerous occasions and been satisfied. This time we have noticed a marked difference in cleanliness, food quality / choice, general maintenance. What we would say is the staff are excellent, but not enough of them. What a shame a big hotel like this has hardly any guests - we don't want to see this hotel close - but if standards don't improve this is what may happen. We paid a lot of money for all inclusive and felt we had to beg for our dinner - at times feeling like we were back at school dinners.
We are writing to the management and tour company to tell them what we thought. In general if you are looking for quiet relaxing holiday then this is what you will get. If you are looking for five star service think again - not available in this hotel. We are sad to say we would only give it two stars.
