“Looks interesting, but some reservations.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

3 of us were walking along the beach early in the afternoon and saw this bar in the distance and thought it would be nice to call and have a drink and a light lunch.

It was a little too breezy to sit outside so we chose a table inside. There were not many people inside, but the waitress walked past us a few times and did not acknowledge we were there. She placed a menu on the table behind us which was unoccupied but still never came to us. We looked at this menu and thought, for what they were providing, the pricing was more expensive than other places we frequented in the area.

The inside of the establishment was a little jaded and the table we picked had a not very clean table cloth on it.

After 10 mins and not being able to attract attention, we up and left.

The above is why I score the bar so low.

However, our full family of 8 decided to give the place a try on an evening, 6 adults & 2 children, for a drink. We sat outside and found the waiter(s) very efficient, friendly and engaged with the children.

Evening drink YES, Lunchtime drink/food NO

“Brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

We went here most days on our week away and found the solitary staff member working absolutely flat out trying to serve the many tables fully occupied. We mostly went for a cool beer but also ate. We had the best burger I have ever eaten, it was just bursting with flavour. Also the Calamaris was beautiful. Portions were huge and it always amused us to see the faces of aghast customers when their feasts were set before them. I have attached some new photos to make my point. The real winner is the location. It is beautiful out there, looking back along the coastline and the breeze is a welcome respite in the heat.

“Our piece of paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

We recently returned from Fuerteventura and Caleta for our 5th time to Fuerte and 4th to Caleta and the La Isla is our favourite place on the island, what could be more relaxing than sitting on the wall listening to the sea and sipping a lovely cocktail...which we did every day.

If your visiting Caleta take a trip to La Isla, walk along the wooden boardwalk see the fish below in the clear sea, sit at the wall and enjoy the view and peace.

La Isla is unique and we will be back very soon!

“An opportunity wasted”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Quite a unique location, which sort of raises expectations, but totally failed to deliver. The walk out over the wooden bridge work is good, especially with the added interest of dodging the odd big wave which can provide a wet surprise. The water is beautifully clear, and the fish appreciate being fed. The restaurant itself feels a bit basic, and finding someone interested enough to offer you a drink and a menu was quite wrong. We sat for ten minutes and thought of just leaving, but resorted to waving and hoping. We ordered sizzling garlic prawns, and some sparkling rose wine, reserving judgement before ordering a fish course to follow. The garlic prawns were bland, we have had worse, once, but these weren't good so we decided to quit while we were behind and move on. Nice location, and care has been taken to provide some wind shelter which was good, needs some attention to front of house to meet and greet, and stop people leaving without ordering through neglect.
