“great holiday again.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

just got back from another great stay at this hotel, this was our 4th time here and and enjoyed every minute. check was great all the reception staff very happy to help and we got sea view room again (2322) well worth paying for sea view. we are elba members but have to say we have never recieved free drinks in our fridge lol. i can honestly say every member of staff from cleaners to bar staff was all happy and helpfull in anyway.hotel kept clean and lots of sunbeds round all pools so no need to get up early and put towels on beds lol.
the bar at night opens at 5 and they do a kids disco and games for a while and the kids love it them they put music, shows entertainment for adults and the kids are all happy.
on our last day we asked to keep room on till 6 has our flight wasnt till 8pm and we paid 30 euro
which was worth it we got to spend another full day in the sun perfect.
i would say this hotel is perfect for all ages and located in the best spot in caleta de fuste all in all we had fantastic weather and great hotel.

Room Tip: try and get at sea view on 3rd floor there the best.

We visited, for the first time, in November 2012. Had such a lovely stay. Booked again for same time this year. Couldn't find any faults, apart from cleaner coming too early in morning! 9 0 clock on holiday??? And bar at pool side, far end, brilliant!! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

This is our second visit to the hotel within 5 months and we loved it even more.

We visited the Island over New Year and enjoyed it so much we wanted to come back when it was a bit hotter so on the 3rd of May 2013 we flew out again, We purchased the holiday through Travel Republic for an absolute bargin! we booked only 5 weeks before hand, and flew via ryan air (purchasing priority boarding as i personally cant stand the rush to grab a seat)

We arrived at the hotel at around 1pm on the day (flight got in at 12:15 - Quick Tip - Get a taxi from the airport - 12 euros and your at the hotel in 10mins instead of waiting for a transfer)
We were checked in straight away by the friendly reception staff although we were early and allocated room 1323, the San Jorge hotel (the one with the pool in the middle of the complex). The room was a 1 bedroom top floor apartment with sea view.

APARTMENT
The kitchen was to the right as you enter and the bathroom to the left. The kitchen was stocked up with basic pots and pans, microwave and hob. We got a elba fidelity card which we showed to the receptionist at arrival, this meant that we had 2 cans of cake, 2 heineken, 2 bottles of water and 2 bottles of sparkling water for free. The bathroom was clean and stocked with towels, toilet roll and little shampoo's and soap.(no hairdryer)
Theres a large lounge area with a comfy sofa (sofa bed tho we didnt pull out the bed) and a tv with sky news on which is handy to laugh at the weather back home :)
The bedroom consisted of 2 larger than normal single beds pushed together but they where comfy enough so we didnt mind this, and as we were top floor we had french doors leading onto our wonderful large balcony. I definatly recommended you upgrade to seaview because it is worth it! The room was cleaned and made up daily, we had our bed sheets changed once and towels changed daily which was perfect for us.

HOTEL
We didnt eat at the hotel as we were self catering and as i mentioned in my previous review there are hotels and bars everywhere so no need to go all inclusive. The pool at the San Jorge was wonderful, im sure not many people knew about it as there was no more than 20 people around it at all times. The pool was cold tho after an hour in the sweltering heat it was much appreciated! There was a pool bar by this pool but the whole time we was there it was never opened so i assume this is opened in high season. There is a pool outside the Castillo Suites by the coastal path that seems to always be busy but that was just as cold.
The Kings Arms pub is located under the hotel right at the end of the complex and we loved it in there, such friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks.
The hotel is on the coastal path into Caleta which is a lovely walk and if you are lucky you will see chipmunks among the rocks! if you get some monkey nuts and hold them in your hands they will happily come right over and eat out of your hand.

CALETA DE FUSTE
Wonderful little town. There are bars and restaurants a plenty! For a drink we recommend El Capitan which usually has live acts on outside in the little courtyard and happy hour twice a day! If you go here check out the sign-age for the male and female toilets :). Restaurants we recommend are Fado Rock Steak House - the chicken volcano is to die for! And La Bodeguita for Italian was spot on, the pizzas are fantastic. The beach is lovely but a bit stony, however there is one spot where its lovely and sandy and you can spot fish swimming by your toes.
The little "supermarkets" are located throughout the town and the closest to the hotel is only a few minutes walk and well stocked.

We went on one excursion whilst we were here and that was the Catlanza, we purchased through the excursions shop in the center of Caleta. It was 40 mins in the coach to Correlajo and you go past the Sand Dunes, which are amazing white sand by a crystal blue sea, beautiful! On a boat to a bay by Lanzarote where you can snorkel, jet ski and drink for free! I definitely recommend.

Overall once again we had a fantastic stay at the San Jorge and in beautiful Caleta De Fuste. We will most definitely be visiting again!

Feel free to ask me any questions, i will be more than happy to help!

Happy Travels!

Room Tip: Top floor is up 4 flights of stairs but worth it if you book sea view!

If I say that although we presented it at check in, our Fidelity Card didn't seem to make any difference. In fact on our final day we realised they had been unaware we had the card. it didn't stop us feeling as though we had received the benefits. We had booked a studio but got a one bedroomed apt. Ok, so no sea view, but I thought that the upgrade was pretty good especially as we had so much room. A dodgy start on night one because I am a big hairy wuss and hate cock roaches! The lovely girls on reception immediately sent housekeeping and maintenance staff to check the apt and zap the little darlings.

The food selection was great, always something for everyone and the restaurant staff were lovely. I will always think of you when i see a certain type of car Mercedes! Thank you all for your smiles and fabulous service. Special thank yous to the lovely lady who cooked my eggs or omelettes, soooooo yummy!

May is a great time to have a holiday. Children are, for the most part, in school, although there seemed a good few who were playing hooky!

The main pool at San Jorge was good, never actually warm but very bearable, refreshing and spotless every day. Lots of loungers available although you do get the pre-booked ones and you don't see the towel owners until about 5pm! Easy access to the bar, coffee machine and snacks.

The entertainment is very much what ever suits your taste. Piped music during the day, not intrusive just relaxing. evening entertainment was varied, not to our taste but then as we had stayed in Elba Sara in january we had seen some acts previously. One evening when it "went a bit too far" in the Ideal Couple, especially as there were still young children about. But then the parents didn't seem to be bothered so I guess its each to their own.

The Animation team are a great bunch, tons of energy, great with the children and always enthusiastic.

In general the staff were great throughout the complex. Always smiling and always helpful.

Within the complex was a supermarket, enough for essentials, a laundrette, games rooms, gift shop ( especially liked this as the pricing was very competitive). The Dog and Duck was only open one day, but provided a good wifi connection. Really that is all this place is missing! There is a courtesy bus service to the other hotels in the group and taxis from the airport are 12€ or into Caleta de Fuste centre for about 3€, or you can walk in about 10 minutes.

The daily visit of Sandra the resort Sun Care Advisor brought giggles aplenty, speaking to people who had bought her products in the hope of the "beautiful dark tan", they turned out to be the same lovely shades of red, tan and brown as the rest of us.

We had not realised until we arrived that part of this complex had been sold off. The hotel is now San Jorge/ Antigua ONLY. The Suites is a separate enterprise now marketed as adults only.

Would we go there again? Most definitely! In fact probably in January 2014!

I stayed here for 2 weeks in July-August 2011. On arrival (late at night) staff were very friendly. Rooms were not the cleanest, a couple of little ants but everything else was good. Loads for the kids to do and plenty of restaurant round about if self catering, animation team are great. Beach not the best but that's expected as it is man made. DO NOT reserve sunbeds as if there is no one on a bed before 8am , all towels are collected together and have to be retrieved.
