“First trip with a baby : )”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013 via mobile

The resort is quite small, but there are a few good restaurants. Didn't go to any of the bars due to baby. Hotel in the middle of resort, so easy access.

Wonderful promenade directly outside pool gates of hotel - great, long coastal walks in either direction. Fantastic for cycling, jogging, walking, prams - lovely smooth paving for majority of path.

Beach directly outside pool gates - looked fantastic - lovely bay, lovely sand, beautiful calm blue/green sea. Lots of lovely beaches right near the hotel.

Pool area - 2 big pools, 1 children's pool - children's pool was a let down for me as there was no graduated area - it was all same depth and too deep for our baby to sit in. If you need to be in the shade like me, not a good pool area. There are some fixed umbrellas but these are right at the edges, so only provide shade for a small part of the day. There are some pagoda style wooden structures but they let a lot of sun through. Nice and breezy by the pool - one day we were actually cold. The pool is salt water so you feel a bit icky afterwards, tho there is a shower.

Would say hotel isn't really "all" inclusive - if you want clean beach towels you have to pay, AI drinks finish at 11pm I think, pay for safe deposit box in room (!!!!) etc.

The room service menu is rubbish - I would've been happy to pay for food but there wasn't anything on it really.

Only one restaurant - disappointing - all buffet. Food was nice - lots of veal, fish, salads, different theme every night, nice soup, desserts ok, great bread. Disappointing drinks selection in restaurant - could only get wine or beer. Breakfast good, lunch ok. Got bored with the buffet after a few days so did go out a few times.

Pool bar nice, lovely and shaded but open air (with roof). Access to self serve food for most of day, but not v healthy. Nice tho, but not enough dessert - only Madeleine cakes.

Entertainment - we didn't see any as it was too loud to take the baby in. The bar area was nice tho, as was the lounge area by reception.

There were a couple of parks, which looked great for older kids and the kids club also looked great.

We had a superior room in block 3 with a lovely sea view. Went to the spa once - the hydrotherapy bit was interesting - not what I was expecting - lots of different temp pools. I think I was expecting some saunas etc. there was a steam room but it was broken in my visit. Had some treatments which were fantastic. The spa treatment menu is very interesting - lots of unusual treatments. Recommend a visit. The gym is in the spa - gym is fine, except there is no air conditioning and its all glass. The day I went it was absolutely roasting - I was dripping with sweat, and not from exercising. Not very nice. There were no fans either. There was a heat wave whilst we were there which may have made it worse.

It was a strange holiday for us - we're used to boutique hotels or beach huts and doing lots of travelling around, or staying somewhere really luxurious. I've stayed in a 4 star in Malaysia, and this hotel was no where near the same standard. I think we've probably been spoilt. We would have got more value out of the AI if we were childless - didn't feel q right drinking all day : )

Had a nice holiday, but wouldn't go back. It was too awful sharing a room with our baby at nught and the hotel wasn't amazing enough for me to cope with a one room holiday again.

Just returned from our stay at this hotel we enjoyed some of it but it needs another bar area where you can escape the noise of childrens entertainment and the poor quality of entertainment every evening!
Plus points were... nice big rooms clean and comfortable, plenty of hot water with a good powerful shower, plenty of choice of food for every meal, nice friendly staff.

Minus points were...sunbeds far too close for comfort, food not so good in pool bar.
People were not interested in the daytime activities in the pool so perhaps Zumba classes or dance classes might have been better and more fun if offered! Also games were played in afternoon with loud shouting right outside block 2 and 3 so if you want a siesta you are disturbed.
All a bit too holiday camp style !!!

We got rooms we wanted as requested by email..Thank you.

A very good hotel with a great central location the rooms were large and cleaned every day with the added bonus of a 40" tv with a number of English channels.

The staff on the whole were very pleasant and also with having the luck of some great weather we had no problem getting a sunbed during the day although a lot of the beds were taken from early in the morning by being covered in towels and then never used.

We were booked on a half board basis and i am glad we did not go all-inclusive as the food was average at best and under cooked on a number of occasions. Did not take in any the evening shows not really my thing , so could not comment on the standard.

But all in all a very enjoyable 1 week break and would certainly return to both the hotel and the resort. One other comment after being subject to a major mistake on arrival at the airport the Thomson reps at the Barcelo Fuerteventura handled everything in a very professional and again i would use Thomson but only because of the local reps

We travelled here in November 2012 and had such a wonderful time that we've booked to go again this November, with extra friends and family. We had adjoining rooms on the ground floor in block 3 which were lovely. Food choice and quality was excellent, mini golf was fun although quite pricey. Grounds were kept clean and tidy and reception staff were helpful. Entertainment was cheesy to say the least but we spent most evenings sat at the bar talking to the staff which was lovely. Didnt use the spa on that occasion but plan to this time around.

we stayed at barcelo in april this year, the staff from the chambermaids to reception, from restaurant to bar staff,to spa staff and shop staff in hotel could not fault any of them,we had superior room in block 3 beautiful view of beach and harbour, food in both areas was good with plenty of choice every day,but what spoilt it was the seal colony that always seemed to bag the best loungers by the pool every day, they would put there towels down in the morning and would not take up residence till later in the day,i saw this happen every day and think its totally unfair, there are signs to stop people doing this but it needs to be enforced, and ,im sorry to say that the brits are the main people who do this, also they were the most greedy, one morning i saw a man with 12 pieces of toast on he,s plate and a pile of bacon,i thought he had got toast for people in he,s party but no he sat opposite our table and started to feed he,s face i could not believe it yet another brit, this is a great hotel with shops next door and a lovely harbour with the floating shop on it were you can hand fed the fish, and a lovely thing about this hotel is the food and water feeding stations dotted around the hotel to fed and water the stray cats, the beach is ok with a much better beach further up,and it was nice seeing the camels, and treat yourself to the mini facial in the spa totally relaxing and worth the money

Room Tip: block 3 is quiet with room 3226 having amazing view

We holidayed here to help my husband recover from major surgery which left him with walking difficulties having to wear a leg brace. The travel agent emailed the hotel to ask to placed near to the restaurant etc. We arrived and I stood in line 57 minutes to be given a room on the 3rd floor the furthest away, I remonstrated saying my husband had walking difficulties and was told we were near a lift! we had no help with the luggage and it took over 15 minutes to find the room. The rooms were comfortable and clean the staff pleasant the food good but my husband found it all too much taking nearly 10 minutes to go for a meal and I had to serve him after twice being nearly knocked down by thoughtless fellow guests. Will not consider going again.

Great hotel with excellent food (in the restaurant). Great range and quality. Only complaint is the food in the Aloe snack bar for the all inclusive guests - its covered with lids and is steamed and soggy. (the hotel must be aware of this and I would be interested to hear their comments?)
We stayed in a room in block 2 with views over the pool, beach and harbour which was lovely. Theres 2 pools at the hotel, one tends to be more family orientated and the other is quieter and suited us.
Bar service is good, self service wine, softs and lager during the day - not a big fan of this but it was set up very well and professional at this hotel so had no issues, bar service is still available. (smirnoff vodka available on all inclusive)
The location is excellent straight on to the beach walkway
We arrived at 12 noon and did have to wait until 2pm for our room
Staff are very good and helpful and I would stay here again.

Room Tip: 2324 is on a higher floor and has a great view and does not hear any noise from evening entertainmen...
