“Nice resort, but ghastly apartment.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

We've just arrived back from a winter break whre the weather was fantastic, especially hearing about the snow, ice and then floods back home. Unfortunately it was our misfortune to choose Villa Florida as our accomodation provider.
The first apartment was like a dirty dungeon, the second an improvementbut (ot much) and the third livable but worn out.
Do they think we live like pigs back home as the general standard of the apartments was very poor.
The best thing they could do with the rented apartments is to strip them out and completely refurbish them all to a better standard that meet modern standards.
The pool area is good and the Red Lion pool bar and restuarant provides excellent food, drink and service.
They also put on some entertainment but the place was full of geriatrics over wintering who are beyond partying in the main.
There was even a free barbecue one night and only about 8 turned up!
Couldn't fault the resort, bit like Blackpool, but the weather was lovely and warm and thats primarily what we went for.
The other downside would be the worry of crime, there plenty of rooms broken into whilst we were there, they even stole the safes, and there was a couple of muggings and several incidents of bag snatching so beware whe you're out and about.

We've just returned from a 4 week holiday over Christmas and new Year staying at Villa Florida.
Lets say some good things about the holiday first, the flight, transfer and weather were fine.
The pool area and the Red Lion Pool Bar were fine and Mabel and Manolo who run the bar are excellent, be sure to go on happy hour for the san miguel between 1.00 & 2.00 pm where 1 pint costs 2.50 and 2 pints cost 2.50, so buy them 2 at a time! As for Villa Florida accomodation I have to say its the worst that I've ever encountered. Our first apartment was dark, dingy and dirty. It was on the front with only 1 window, didn't get any sun, and the noise from the road through the night with Dustbin men, road sweepers, traffic and drunks was tiring and unwelcome. There were too many faults to list here with the apartment but suffice to say Joseph, Mary and their donkey had better digs over Christmas than us. We were moved after a lot of effort reluctantly by the complex staff and felt we'd been upgraded from a disgrace to a semi disgrace. In the main the apartments are delapidated, scruffy, shabby and in dire need of complete refurbishment.
As for the resort, there were several muggings, bag snatching and rooms robbed whilst we were there.
4 rooms raided and robbed in Caleta gardens and 4 in Tahona gardens either side of Villa Florida and the robbers even jemmy the safe's off the walls in the apartments which were later discovered over near the coastal path broken into by bashing with rocks.
As for the police, their attitude was 'you're insured aren't you',' theres a lot of unemployment what do you expect them to do', 'its all the Morrocans coming over doing this', etc, etc.
Its such a shame that all this criminality is occuring so be warned to keep your valuables and money safe at all times.
As for Villa Florida, take my advice forget it and find somewhere better.

Been here four times now. A lovely place. Right in the heart of caleta. A short walk from it all
All the staff esp Miguel on the reception are great, nothing to much trouble, rooms basic but well cleaned, a lockable gate on the complex keeps unwanted people out, A fantastic base to explore the area and sample the hundreds of places to eat.

Room Tip: Top floors better. Pool view great

The Red Lion Bar.
Villa Florida Apartment Complex.
This bar has experienced a major turn around in the last four months due to new management and has to be recommended. we arrived on December 12th for one month and were not disappointed.
The new management of Manolo and Mabel have made this bar a definite place to come to. The food is excellent and tasty and the menu is as varied as one could wish for; sensible snacks and even steaks/chicken dishes etc. You will not be disappointed.
A happy hour between 1pm and 2pm with another between 5pm and 6pm are a way of finding out exactly what is available without stretching your budget.
We have enjoyed many lunchtime and evening light meals here without breaking into a sweat about prices.
Music is available on various evenings; see the sign boards in the bar area or on the notice board at the front; The music is not loud and you can join in if you wish, usually between 8pm ish to around about 11pm.

Room Tip: We had an apartment on the first floor which is preferable getting more light with a sunny balcony.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

I arrived on Saturday the 17th November, put in room 155 by a receptionist that was polish but told everyone he was french what a complete idiot, the room had a bathroom with a handrail that does not look legal the rail is too close to the toilet making it difficult to sit on the toilet. The next day I asked to be moved, this was not possible by the reception that had a 3 hour siesta, I have never encountered reception staff that even have a siesta, also the room is opposite the bin area.
Monday a different reception staff took over, he was French, he was okay until you complained, he did not have a clue what to do, I was moved on Tuesday to a room that was crawling all over the work surfaces and walls with small insects. The next day Wednesday the couple opposite told me the family that were in there before me had the same problem and were given some stuff, I went to reception and told the receptionist, at 12.30pm before his siesta, he said he would send someone round, at 4pm nobody came to the place, my arms started to itch, I was moved into another apartment, that evening I had to go to the hospital as I could not sleep from itching, I had taken some antihistamines the day before, I was given an antihistamine injection by the hospital, which made me feel much better, but I would not go back to Fuerteventura.

Room Tip: Do not stay in 155 Very Noisy No Privacy as the guests use the exit gate when open 152 Is Infested...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

Just returned from a one week holiday in the Villa Florida with my husband, we stayed from 6th to 13th Oct, 2012. The complex is very nice, clean and well maintained. The apartments are very basic and old fashioned but clean and adequate, however, they seriously could do with air conditioning. We requested a fan from reception and this helped a little. The staff in Villa Florida are really helpful both in the pool bar and at reception and the complex is so central that it is the first foreign holiday we have ever had where we didn't get one single taxi! Caleta de Fuste is a very chilled out and well kept resort with a beautiful walk from the harbour right along the beach.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floor appear to have the best views and most light
