I was a bit worried about our choice of hotel after reading some mixed reviews on here, but we didnt have any reason to worry.

The hotel is lovely and clean, very big and spacious and the area of Costa Caleta is very nice also. We had original booked a standard room which should have been in the 1000 block of apartments (there are 2000 blocks and 3000 blocks also which are superior apartments). However the 1000 apartments are currently being refurbished (but are nearly finished) so when we arrived we got a free upgrade to the 3000 block with a sea view!!

The reviews on here about the 1000 apartments were very bad but thats obviously the reason for the major refurb, i think that as they are nearly finished you will get a lovely apartment no matter which block you are booked in.

The hotel is right on the beach & its a very nice beach, there are some lovely resturants in the area but night life isnt very good. Its definately quiet (even in June) and we were surprised of how little there was going on at night but as we wanted a chilled out holiday it wasnt to much of an issue.

We hired a car for 4 days (we paid 75 euros at the hire shop inside the shopping square - shop around as there are quite a few car hire place & they all offer different prices). We explored the whole of Fuerteventura and there are some lovely beachs in Jardia especially in the south of the island

I think without hiring a car we may have been bored as there wasnt that much for couples to do in the resort.

However we still had a great time visiting all the different towns and beachs and relaxing in the sun!

The weather was great and we were self catering so cant really comment on the food served in the hotel. The hotel staff were great though as we called them a few times with minor problems such as the room not being cleaned (we found out the rooms arnet cleaned on Fridays so it wasnt a problem).

A word of warning is how expensive everything is ! loaf of bread is £3, bottles of Sprite are £3. We thought we'd save money going self catering but the shops (even the cheaper Spa out of the resort) are all so pricey! you really are better paying the extra and going all inclusive! eating out wasnt too bad, average price of a meal for two was around 30-40 euros but you do notice how much more expensive things are.

Overall a great holiday & a beautiful place :)

Returned from a weeks holiday all inclusive to the barcelo. Had an absolutely fantastic time. 7 of us travelled. 4 being children from the age of 3 to 10. Kids were spoilt for choice. Loved all 8 of the swimming pools. Beach is great. 10 Year old loved fishing of the rocks there. Kids club was fantastic. My younger children have never ever been interested in the kids clubs on holidays but they done such varied and exicting things they were asking to go. Entertainment in the evenings was very good. Childrens disco was fantastic. We stayed in the bungalows which are beautiful and although we were all inclusive we had full cooking facilites including kettle and toaster which was nice.
Area is absolutely lovely although to be honest we didnt venture of resort as there was just so much to do. Weather very nice although kids needed jacket on during evenings as did get a bit windy.
Air conditioning works perfectly. Always sun loungers free round the pool which was nice.Found reception very very helpful.
If we missed lunch kids were still able to get food from bar (not just chips but sandwiches also).

Breakfast was really good. Had lots to choose from, from pancakes, cereal. fruit pastries, toast or full breakfast.

Lunch was also very nice. Always nice salad each day with then the hot food.

The only down side was the evening meal. Always fresh hot looking food but a lot of fishy stuff which i dont eat. But i did always manage to find something to eat.

Our rooms were cleaned everyother day which was fine. I just cant praise this place enough. My mum came with us on the holiday and she has always managed to find something to moan about but there is just nothing to dislike about this place.
We went for half term and got a really good deal all inclusive for 7 of us for just under £1400 and thats school holidays. This included transfers.
Started looking again now to book another week (hopefully two later on in the year).

The only thing i would mention is that the limit for cigarettes is 200 per adult. Make sure you stick to that as there was a lot of people having cigarettes confiscated on return flight

We stayed at Barcelo Club El Castillo from the 18th to the 19th of May 2009.

The Barcelo Club El Castillo is an aparthotel style set up, at the far end of of the bay at Caleta de Fuste. We arrived early, our fault, but immediately the difference between the places we stayed at in the previous days and this place became apparent. The receptionist was grumpy, no smiles, no response to my friendly hello. We were told our room would be ready at 11:00, it wasn't. Again, yes we were early, but don't tell us a time which was never going to happen.

We got in the apartment at around 12:15, ground floor, very little light. The bathroom was small, as was the bedroom, not a lot of room to move around. The lounge/dining area was OK, best part of the apartment was the terraced area, with a couple of sun loungers and table and chairs. It caught the sun nicely in the afternoon.

Caleta de Fuste caters for a range of visitors, but tilts in the British direction of things. This wasn't good, rubbish on the streets, music from the Irish pubs, and British Bars, for some people this may be great, not for us. I'd characterise it as going to Butlins, but with sunshine. Fish and Chips, burgers, I can get those in Britain, I don't want that on holiday. The beach is artificial, the top by the promenade is soft"ish" and sheltered, but the rest, open to the wind, and felt like the kind of coarse sand you'd get from your local builders merchant.

This place in damn expensive too, the Spar at the Atlantico Shopping Centre was OK, but the local supermarket was charging £1+ for 1.5 litres of water. Also drinks, The Kings Head charged £8 for a Baileys and Budweiser, and £8.70 at The 60's Bar.

There are some positives, the breakfast was excellent, we found some friendly staff there, and the Atlantico Shopping Centre has some really nice shops.

If you want to go somewhere that's just like a British town, but with sun, then maybe this is for you, it's not for me.

We have just returned from the Barcelo Club El Castillo after a fantastic week over half term. Due to a delay at the airport we did nit arrive until after midnight however there was a porter waiting to guide us to our rooms, which was great as the complex is huge. I was very surprised that we had been upgraded to two bungalows adjacent to each other 3091 and 3092 as I had initially booked 1 room for a family of four with the boys being 14 and 15. Inside the rooms were spacious enough and had a kettle, toaster microwave and a double electric heated hob, there is also a hair drier in the bathroom. The flat screen TV recieved several UK stations not that we watched it that much. Just 20 metres away was a large swimming pool surroundounded by modern sun loungers and although the water felt cold initially once in it was great. The complex has three other pools one by the snack bar and two close to reception, during our stay all provided sufficient loungers to be used throughout the day without people needing to leave towels over them.
As we were self catering I cannot comment on the food but can recommend the new slow boat for a good chinese which is opposite mambos steak bar do not confuse with the slow boat two next door to mambos food there is ok however the new slowboat is great whether you go for a banquet or try the buffet freshly cooked each night at 8.00 pm an excellent choice of starters main course( change each night) and sweets all for 8.80 euros. Also tried Metropolis reasonable Mambos ok and Trafalgar good food and good deals local beer 1.25 euros for a pint anda 3 course menu for 10 euros.
If self catering you can shop at the local Nettos scattered around or the Euro Spar in the shopping centre to reach it either walk along the beach side or catch a free bus Which leaves from reception at 9.40 then every hour until 12.40 followed by a three hour break then 12.40 till 20.40 returns at at half past the hour.
The resort is much quieter than expected with obviously fewerr visitors but this leads to competition between bars so is not too bad unless some end up closing.
Back to the complex it is well worth a visit no need to ask for an upgrade as the 1000 bungalows are currently unoccupied as they are being refurbed. Entertainment is outdoors so need a sweater for cool evenings, gardens are well kept, and the positioning next to the bay and rocks is great, also 3 really good crazy golf courses
Overall a fantastic relaxing holiday and we are looking forward to returning next year
