OK, the bad bit first – if you are considering all-inclusive then don’t bother, go somewhere else! Although the internet information claims that “Facilities within the apartment complex include a swimming pool, poolside bar, children’s pool, restaurant and bar” the hotel itself does NOT have restaurant or bar facilities - the restaurant and bar belong only to the Lord Nelson pub on the complex and are not available as part of the all-inclusive package. To get your meals and drinks you have to walk to another complex, the Caleta Garden about 200m away, so you either spend your time at a complex you did not book or want or you miss out on the all-inclusive. Felt cheated.
Now for the good bit – this Puerto Caleta complex is ideal for self-catering. It is located fairly centrally in the resort, i.e. not stuck half way up the hill, and it is close to a selection of bars, restaurants and supermarkets, although not that close that the noise is a disruption. The pool and terrace get the sun almost all day, there are plenty of sunbeds and there was a lifeguard on duty when we were there. Although the bedroom was a bit on the small side the lounge / kitchen area is spacious, plenty of room for both a 3-seater and 2-seater sofa and 2 coffee tables. Maid service is 4 times per week. There is live music at The Lord Nelson every evening.
Would I go back? All-inclusive – never in a month of Sundays, self-catering – definitely.
