“Disappointing Yellowfin Seafood Platter Dinner”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2014

Very disappointing tonight. Had the seafood platter. We used an internet 'Groupon' voucher- so I guess they don't really care. Bug, clam and scallops really overcooked and dry. Asked if they were reheats from lunch and told no - 'BUT' ?? Nothing to put shells etc into and also messy fingers due no finger bowl. Apparently no management on duty at the time we were there ( 5-30 to 6-45pm ) and certainly no wait staff took ownership of our table. Renovations to their sister restaurant 'Sage' adjacent - so noisy circular saws and drills.

“Loved the fish of the day! ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2014

My boyfriend and I grabbed an ocean trout and a classic fish and chips from here. My ocean trout was fresh and cooked perfectly, however the fish in his fish and chips was a little dry and did not taste as fresh as mine. Great food overall, but the quality really depends on what you order. Definitely go for their daily catches. Service was average at best.

“Enjoyable and worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2014

We drove down from Brisbane with another couple with vouchers purchased from Our Deal. All of us were pleasantly surprised and very satisfied with the platters. The two males in our group who thought it was a long way to go for lunch both agreed that it was worth the trip. The service was great considering the restaurant was quite busy and the seafood was very fresh and well presented. We will be returning. Thank you.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Went to yellowfin on a scoopon voucher.....seafood platter to the value of $110....I
The platter that we received was the value of the voucher purchased ...$50. Yellowfin that is not fair....you should be ashamed of yourselves for the scam. As the previous reviewer said we saw platters coming out that were double the size...obviously were not voucher meals

Dear 481Traveller2014,
Thanks for your feedback and sorry that you felt disappointed by the platter we served. I can assure you that all platters are the same size unless customers request and pay for extra items to upgrade to their menu which happens fairly often. Our kitchen doesn't know the difference between a seafood platter going out to someone with a voucher and someone paying full price as our computers are just programed to order "seafood platter". Sorry you felt the platter didn't offer good value but we can't be compared to platters you might find at other restaurants as we only use fresh produce (not frozen) and our platters aren't filled up with deep-fried product and fruit/salad garnish. Suggesting we are scamming customers is a bit harsh, it is definitely not the case.
Kind regards,
Justine Clarke

“Taste great! But what happened to the size??”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

My husband and I went to Yellowfin last year on a scoopon deal which offers Seafood Platter for two with a bottle of wine for $59.
Overall the experience was pleasant. The quality of the seafood was pretty good. We especially liked the prawn skewer which stands out from the fresh seafood. However, The platter size was pretty small in compare with the other seafood platters we’ve had in other restaurants and I was definitely not full at the end of the meal – this was quite unusual to me. We did see a much bigger platter being offered to a couple sitting next to us – guessed they might have paid full price for their meal – rather than come in with a discount coupon. However, I was a bit disappointed that the restaurant offers less food to customers who came using a coupon. Guess I probably won’t visit again.

Dear Joycysu,
Thanks for your review and for your positive comments regarding the taste of the seafood platter. In regards to the size, we do not serve smaller sized platters to guests paying with vouchers. Our kitchen does not know whether a platter is going to a table who has a voucher or not and the only time people are served bigger platters is if they request additional items on their platter and pay for them which is an option at our restaurant.
We would definitely love to see you back at Yellowfin.
Kind regards,
